I don’t recommend the leafs at all. Also why did you remove the fry? I just keep mine in the tank and make sure they have cover. I 3D printed a cage to put over the nest
I recommend oak leaves which I have used extensively. They do not rot nearly as quickly as other native hardwood types. Great set-up, I really like the Green Sunfish.
Unfortunately they all passed. I wasn't home for the first several months of the year and the person there didn't take care of them. I'm going to try again though!
@@jobr641 no, similar build on some of them but very different fish. I could throw some species names at you but I would feel bad giving advice when I'm not 100% sure.
I literally just watched your last video about the green sunfish tank twenty minutes ago and I saw this pop up, great channel I just found it
Thanks for watching!! I'm glad you found it!
I love this channel!
@@outdoorsforachange thanks so much!

Thanks! I'll look for those. This time of year I have a bunch of magnolia leaves and that's about it lol
I spawned bluegill before in an aquarium and unfortunately no babies survived either😮, I setup a native fish mini pond with crappie and sunfish
Dang! Hoping I can have some success! I'm gonna need a mini pond if I succeed though!
@@CGLFishing yeah lol for sure
How many gallons is this tank?
@@UrbanDanceLegends 150 gallons!
@@CGLFishing Thanks it seems like it's very different dimensions from 150 gallon tanks I've had in the past.
@@UrbanDanceLegends it's a 150 tall or extra tall. Definitely a little strange dimensionally compared to most.
What happen to the fish fry you hatched?

What size tank is that? I love it.
150 gallon tall!
@@CGLFishing wow, it's massive and extra heavy. Can you add a brace in the basement or crawl space?
@@outdoorsforachange you can but I put it directly over the concrete piling so I thought that would be enough!
@@CGLFishing ha, that should be good!
@@outdoorsforachange I hope so!!
I have a 40g. Breeder tank. What cichlid can I keep in this tank and how many?
I'm not very familiar with cichlids so not a good person to help with that!
It’s fine. I thought sunfish are in a cichlid family. Thanks.

How big are most of the green sunfish in the tank?
They vary a lot! Smallest is probably 4 inches, largest probably around 8 I would guess!
High protein foods like bloodworms or live stuff like blackworms should get em going
Going to give that a try!
Minnows too
