Stalker and Metro series they are the only non horror fps franchise that is able to make me truly anxious over anything non-human because how unexpected they can show up even in the safest zone.

Bro, in Fallout 4, I installed a footsteps mod. I was just looting and heard running behind me, I thought it was my companion but when I turned around, it was just in time for a feral ghoul to do a full swing at me. It scared the shit out of me. The amount of times feral ghouls have done that to me even without the footsteps mod, I'm more scared of ghouls than deathclaws

Ambush predators actually behave like hunters and quietly pounce, hell even human AI will silently try to get a sneaky point blank kill if you're busy looting a corpse. For some reason, all my biggest scares in gaming come from Bethesda games. in Fallout 3 I was scoped in on a giant radscorpion that was off in the distance hunting something else. When it moved out of render distance, I unscoped, turned around to walk off the little hill I was posted on, and found myself face to face with another Giant radscorpion. That one sucked. Skyrim did it to me next, I, ironically, have a case of Arachnophobia, and I was handling the Frostbite spiders decently well up until this point. I'd gotten the frost form shout and it was my go to strat for most fights, freeze enemies with shout, hit them till the die before they thaw. I froze a frostbite spider just before it did its leap attack and it still somehow launched at me, giving me a face full of frozen spider fangs.
