- Ishara Aryal had always been depressed her entire life. At 17, she knew that she was clinically depressed. She had just graduated high school and she did not know what to do next. She felt like a completely different person. She finally went up to her mother and said, ‘Mom, I’m depressed. I need help’. Her mother assured her that they would do everything. Eventually, one fine day, she decided to take an overdose of sleeping pills and end her life.
Currently Ishara Aryal is a student of English Literature at SUNY Oswego

Dear Ishara.. I was so moved by your speech. I am a mental health counselor here in USA and I am so glad that you spoke your heart out. I am so happy that you are recovering and I wish you all the positive hopes and happiness in the world. I am glad that you are back at your hometown because when you said it feels lonely here in US I can totally relate to it. Depression can just happen to people even when they are unaware of it or may be living the most happening life. You are brave that you are dealing with it. Please keep spreading your words around and I am sure you are going to save many more lives just like you saved yours. Lots of love..

The audience for Story Yellers is mostly youths. So, I dn't know why people are worrying so much about the language. Enjoy the story. Also then, if you are not okay with any language, you can go hire your own translators.

Not to forget she had trouble with herself and not to mention she had panic attack and anxiety attack, it take so much courage to speak up about your troubled past and yet people be commenting on her language and all.. but i found it understandable, there's nothing wrong about it... Good job Ishara don't mind ppl that be hating, you are very brave girl !!

Ahh Ishara didi , I am so proud of you for telling the story of such an obnoxious part of your life in front of so many people. I cannot wholly relate to the pain you went through or maybe still going through but , I somewhat can relate with the experience you shared . While you went on and on about your story , I could see how much you were trying to endure those priceless tears . I also have anxiety issues , there requires no reason for it to occur . It just happens out of nowhere . Nevertheless I hope you know that , *You are eventually healing* . I hope that some part of that heavy weight has been lifted soon after you finished sharing your story . Take care of yourself please . And please stay around people who adore you for who you actually are . You are a miracle . I am totally thankful to you . Stay happy because you deserve more . ❤^_^
Rather disconcerting to see her medium of delivery being “scrutinised” to such an extent rather than actually receiving the depth and importance of the topic being addressed here.
To a greater or lesser degree, mental health issues struggle to be understood across societies around the world. Standing in front of a crowd and vocalising past experiences of grappling with such issues and facing one’s demons is no easy feat and takes immense guts and acceptance. Thank you for sharing your story, and keep winning Ms Aryal! 👊🏽

If anyone is thinking what this girl is trying to say or how is this making sense. Just remember how she mentioned being diagnosed of bipolar disorder. Her mind being in state of euphoria , mania and then sunddenly in depression. What you are listening to is a brave person who has an actual condition where she cannot control her state of mind but yet here she is trying to give us an idea how its like being her, how its like being sumone whom people dont always understand. What you are listening to is a soul, fighting with her own mind who wouldnt let her be in peace, not only fighting against it but also winning.

I'm happy that you were able to get the help you needed but I'm also so bitter that there are so many out there who have no idea they could seek help or that they could even be helped or they do know they need help but it's so inaccessible; death is the cheaper option.

I really like the story and I am really happy for you and that you had that one turning point and you want to live now. I wouldn't comment anything about your language but you know what you could have said. You could have actually mentioned what were the reasons behind of your depression. Nobody can just decide to die since they are teenagers or at least there should be some reasons which you just didn't mention it at all throughout your story and it literally distracted me so much. You even mentioned at some point that you have always been wanted to die because you are depressed but what was the reason, society puts on pressure? Noo, too vague.All in all, I am happy that you are happy now living your life. Maybe it's upto Storytellers production who needs to decide what kind of story should be chosen.
I get what you’re saying but like I said in the video, I have bipolar disorder which causes mood fluctuations that I can’t control. There is no particular reason behind my depression. It is just a disorder that I need to live with. If you want more information on that, you can always do some research on it :) thank you for you support

Shraddha maharjan Well , depression is something that grows with time. We get involved in it unintentionally. We start having doubts about ourselves and disappointments are all that last. I think , since a kid she always thought she wasn't good enough and as the time went by , that very guilt turned into depression.

Depression is a clinical condition that affects your thinking, feelings and mood. It does not necessarily have to have a cause. The causes can be both environmental as well as biological/genetics. Go google it up. Ignorance is definitely not bliss :)
