it's precious how you could remix the original soundtrack and not fuck up. this ost, this mod is underrated. it's not so touching as the dlc but it fits the main story very well. just finished the mod and didn't expect it to be this deep. especially two security measures when you can barely find out at the beginning, become stuck in the middle with needed knowledge and rewind all that attempts in the head when you're just entered the observatory... i write that supposing that you're both the dev and compositor. if not, as i said, music is great. straight to the soul when you miss good old days exploring this vast world and its music and hear its refreshed versions in new content
Downloaded the mod on a whim and I'm so glad that I did. The moment River's Groove kicked in was so damn cool, and going through the observatory brought me to tears. Never expected this level of quality from a mod, great work!
I was in tears going through the observatory. Just seeing that he knew, and tried to get back to be with his family. But couldn't. So he had to spend his final moments alone. Then turning the corner just to see a corpse.. I had a friend with me and I couldn't read aloud. I had to read it all internally
I have huge respect for this, because you were able to remix Andrew's soundtracks into something that was quite interesting and unique. The whole soundtrack breeds a feeling of isolation...outsiders. (save a few of them that show happier times). It emphasises Datura distancing himself from his kin...
Although I think that there were some contradictions to the lore and logic of the universe in this mod, i really enjoyed the puzzles and the soundtrack. It was a great quality mod that did not felt out of place at all with the base game in terms of integration (locations wise). Congrats!
When I was reading the final message in the observatory and the Strangers’ instrument started playing, I genuinely broke down into tears. The emotions I felt were indescribable, and the quality and execution of that whole sequence is on par with the actual game. Fantastic job on both the music and the mod. ❤
(I'm from France, sorry by advance for my potentialy mistakes) I discovered this soundtrack a few weeks ago (like 3 or 4). I never played OuterWilds (hum, to be honest, I played one time for a test after I saw a lot of gameplay, but I just blocked on the piloting of the spaceship, I'm a noob 😢). But, I think I have heard like a million times all of the originals musics of the game. I recently found a lot of mods soundtrack on spotify and youtube and I fell in love a second time for this game. They bring something I cannot explain, it's something like you know all the scenario of the original story, and music after music, you forgot all of this, and you wanna play and watch an other time to know this story. You really honor the original sounds of Andrew. I hope I could, one day, play this mod when I will have the time.
@@laird3789 I never play this mod yet lmao, I don't have time to do it (and tbh, I'm not very good at this game, I suck at finishing the dlc) but the musics continue to make me travel in a wonderful place.
@@Meeeerlin Mod is pretty good at music and story, but textures might look strange compare to the main game. Dlc is wonderful, so don't give up and be curious in your journey
@@laird3789 Yes, I I watched some letsplays, but you could tell I'm strange but I really love the textures of the mod. Yes, I think I need to be more focus, even if I know probably 99% of what's outer wilds🤣
Having just finished the mod last night, I have to say I was really surprised! While my main issue with the mod just came down to how the structures looked, the story there was for it to tell definitely kept me interested until the end! Great stuff, especially the music (Approaching The End's appearance still got me and a friend super excited for some reason)
I discovered, started and finished the mod in a span of about four hours earlier today. I was so excited the entire time and given that I'd never heard of it before, I did NOT expect it be as fantastic as it is.
I really enjoyed your mod, congratulations ! It was just like a new DLC and you really respected everything that make us love Outer Wilds ! If you ever wish to release different translations, I'm up for the French one ! I'd love to make your wonderful work enjoyable to many !
Funny enough, I would argue that this mod exemplified Mod Jam 3’s theme of *Community* just as well as any of the other participants. Obviously not a 1:1 given the scope and timeframe, but I genuinely took it to heart
Any thoughts on reaching out to the Outer Wilds devs and asking to bring this onto streaming services such as Spotify and co? Would be awesome to be able to listen to those on the fly. Great work for both the mod and the work on the soundtracks. This is able to stand up there with the vanilla game and it's official DLC. I've cried several times, even on my 2nd+ playthrough of the mod. Hat's off.
Played this as my first venture into Outer Wilds mods. I was a little conflicted on the tone of some of the writing, but the soundtrack was a joy the whole way through. River's Groove was a real unexpected and pleasant surprise. Despite imitating the base game it hit all the right notes.
mod spoilers after this: I loved the mod and the music so much. I feel Its a tragic story about regret and love. To be careful not forgetting the ones you love in the intense persuit of goals. And i can relate. At least thats my take on it ^^
Spoilers: I wrote this in another reply. The entire Observeatory section, reading through every piece of dialogue. Realising that Datura knew... He knew what was going to happen and so he rushed to be back with his family, but wasn't able to return to be with Filix. Them knowing that in those final moments he was going to be alone. Then I turned the corner and saw a skeleton. That is the part that broke me to tears. I have never cried for a game before but turning around and seeing a skeleton. Solitary. Killed me. I had a friend with me and had been reading everything aloud, I was unable to do it any, ore. I had to read it internally as I was a mess.
@chickenhunt5163 I found the base game profound and I was upset. There were some tears both for base and the end of the DLC after seeing you know who's footprints. But this mod was the first time I WEEPED. Openly at a game. If that makes sense?
I'm actually a little conflicted on this soundtrack. On the one hand, it's mostly mixing or reusing songs from the original game, but on the other, it's paying homage to them. It seems low effort, but it also just works. Can't wait to play the mod.
I think that, if you do it right, you can reuse the original themes without much consequence since in most games, those themes represent something. End Times for example, it plays when the loop is about to end, and you can hear the same song play when... you know, labelled "Final Voyage" or "Final End Times" when the game is about to end. Or another well known example, the "Once Upon a Time" theme from Undertale reappears in many locations throughout the game, and I think it represents the game itself in a way, since it usually appears at major moments you'd probably only get from a game like that, such as the intro scene, title screen, during the jetpack scene (You know the one), and so on. So of course mods for the game are going to use a remixed version of that theme, it's the same story, but told from another perspective. Similar to "Echoes of the Eye" where the Nomai's song (Story) is played on a Hearthian instrument (Perspective)
River Groove is just so cool, suits the tension of the situation so much. This mod is what the DLC should've been. Enjoyed it a lot more than banging my head against the simulation.
