As always thank you for watching! Игры
I also really appreciate the "This game may not be for you if..." thoughts.
This is REALLY helpful so please keep this!!
Whilst it may be hard to hear negative things about our personal favourites, I feel it really makes your opinion a LOT more valuable and trustworthy.
Shane that is great feedback, thank you! I will not stop this as I do feel like it is something important as no matter what anyone says, not every game is for everyone :)
I like your "this game isn't for you if..." segment at the end of each review. It's actually really helpful and something that I do not see in other videos, at least not in such a straightforward way.
Glad you liked it!! Not every game is for every person. Thanks for listening!!
I appreciate how you also included "this game is not for you if..." segments for each game.
Thank you, glad you like that! No game is perfect, so I try and mention what I can so people can weigh the good and the bad and decide if it is worth looking into.

Thanks so much
Nailed it again Colin. You manage to always put games on my radar that other Tubers' don't. Love your channel and your ability to veer away from some of the hype.
Thanks so much for watching Jack!! Glad I can help you spend your money :)
I knew your #1 is"THAT GAME" before I watched this video. According to the playthrough before, your passion to "THAT GAME" is a different level. :)
Hahaha!! You got that right! I can't stop thinking about that game! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great list! Really original compared to other lists (bar the LotR LCG... which is hard to ignore!). Love your "this is for you if" and "this is not for you if" commentary!
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching!!
In good production as always, thank you!
Thank you for watching Dent!
Another great list! I remember following along on some of these play throughs, good times. I really enjoy Friday and Onirim and have just recently picked up Villages of Valeria. Thanks again for your top 10.
I need to look up villages of Valeria! Thanks for watching!
Also check out Valeria: Card Kingdoms and Quest of Valeria. All three games can be played 1-5 players.
Sweet will do thank you!!
nice to see "new" game in your list than most of the top 10 solo on youtube, thanx Colin.
my top 3 Aeon's end/ Apex/ baseball highlights 2045
Thanks for watching Franck! GREAT top 3! The only reason Baseball is not up there as high is I felt like luck plays almost too much into the game for solo. But man it is a fun competitive game for sure!
Nice list! Scary thing is I have all those games...hehe. Couple more to consider is Mistfall, Slaughterville, and maybe Draconis Invasion and Battle for Souls. Keep up the great work!
I was just talking to Shane about Mistfall! I need to get that back to the table with the new rules. Slaughterville and Draconis I have never heard of! Looks like I need to do some digging!! Thank you for the suggestions, the comment and watching!
Very nice list, setup times and lenght very interesting, also your final thoughts about "this would or wouldn't like if..."
Awesome! Glad you find it helpful and appreciate you watching and commenting!
I call LotR a “Custom deck construction” game. Some people get it confused when you say it’s a deck builder.
Ohh I like that! Yeah I generally try and say Deck Construction game, but I always seem to forget to say it while recording! Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Great video and great top 10. Just started watching you stuff and am playing catch up. We seem to have very similar tastes. My top Card games right now are - Unbroken, Gloom of Kilforth, and Aventuria: Adventure Card Game. I am playing a ton of Aventuria right now. I really enjoy this game
Thanks for watching!! Unbroken good one, I didn't put it in here since it has not been fully published yet. GoK is awsome and Aventuria is also good!! Glad you are enjoying the channel and thanks for commenting!
Thank you for a very informative video, adding this game is not for you if is awesome, there are a couple of these I have and there are some I will definitely be investing in thanks again.
Excellent list!
Appreciate you watching!!
Great vid
Great list
Great choices
Great commentary
Great job!
Thank you!!
Really great list and cool videos! To this list, I'd just add Imperial Settlers (specially with Trzewiczek's pnp solo campaign).
Thanks so much for watching! I have that one still have not played it though. . . But now I am getting excited to try it!
Sad to hear you don’t like the Cthulhu mythos more! The Arkham Horror LCG has definitely become my favorite! And it was your playthrough that convinced me to buy it lol. Good list though, I’ll have to check out Lord of the Rings too.
It is climbing up the ranks my friend! I like it enough I now own everything!! Hahaha!
Awesome list, Colin! Really enjoying all your top 10 lists! Any chance of seeing your top 10 solo dice games?
Thanks so much for watching! That is a GREAT idea I will add it to the top 10's I want to do!!
Just got my first game of Renegade in tonight and really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to seeing more of what it has to offer and at this point I think I can reasonably say it will become one of my favorites.
Some others that I really like are(including some crossover):
Race for the Galaxy
Space Hulk: Death Angel
Imperial Settlers
Warhammer Quest ACG
Shadowrun: Crossfire
Shadowrift
Apex
Oh My Goods! (Great for traveling)
Legendary
I'm curious about Gloom of Kilforth, and you owe me a game or two of LotR card game soon :-)
Just wait until you play that blasted Viking SMC. . . I can't beat that guy! :)
Great list yourself! I need to try Race solo, I love it multiplayer. GoK and LoTR are on the list!! :) Thanks for watching and commenting Brent!!
Just discovered your channel recently and my wallet has been so upset since
HAHAHAHAHA Sorry for your wallet! :) But hopefully you have found some good games to play!
Very good video!
Thanks for watching!
Great video Colin and echoes alot of ky fav games. Recently i got a copy of Aventuria and love it, how far outside your top 10 was it?
Thanks so much for watching Mark! I really do like Aventuria, but for some reason it just didn't click with me as much. I think it is because I feel like all you needed to do was survive, becasue the longer you survived the more powerful you became compared to the enemies. Still though a great game, but probably not in my top 20.
discovered your channel lately (Gaia Project) and enjoy it very much!
I was surprised that 7th Continent is not on your list. Have you played it?
Thanks so much for watching!! Gaia, what a fun game. I have a playthrough of 7 Continent on the channel, not really my thing. Too open if you ask me! I like having goals! :)
Have fun in California. A video about WQACG fan made content would be sweet. Alternatively, you can discuss it on the podcast. I have to play Ricky's debut title. Kicking myself for not backing it.
Having a blast so far! Albeit work is involved too hahahaha!
Amazing shirt!
Thanks!!
It still makes me so so so sad that Warhammer ACG is dead. I wish FFG would apply the system to Terenoth or Star Wars or LoTR; anything... I loved the system. Miss it. And prop for the LoTR LCG love; my #1!
I know!!! The system is so good hoping someone can retheme it!! Glad you are with me on LOTR!! Thanks for watching!
Renegade! I'm looking forward to that one!
can't wait to get it to you Eric!! I will ship right when I get back!
Very cool. As a solo do you like it single hand/character or running 2 or 3 at once?
Ricky made the game so one character is perfect, no need to run multi which is awesome!! I have a feeling you are going to like it a lot!!
would love to see solo plays of Dragonfire and possibly Shadowrun crossfire prime runner edition when it comes out!
Both of those are great! I will see, right now I am head over heels on LOTR but these are on my list!
I agree that LOTR LCG is better than Arkham Horror LCG but I do like both. A few games on this list are hard to find or expensive. Marvel Legendary solo is great and largely still available.
Nice! Thanks for watching!!
Would like to see where Marvel Champions and Heroes of Terrinoth fit into this list (if at all) since I think they were released after this list was made. This is such a great list btw for the current pandemic/quarantine we are going through.
Thanks for watching! So Champions was certainly not out in 2018, that did not come out until late 2019. Heroes of Terrinoth came out after this aired as well :) But both are great games thanks for watching!!
Im a little late to this video, but its still relevant today for what i see.
Im all in on LOtR for sure. Most of it is still available luckily!
Thanks for watching!!
As someone who just discovered I like deck building games, this video might hurt my wallet. For whatever reason I thought my wife wouldn't enjoy them so I gave them a pass. Now that we've played a few light ones I've been looking for something more meaty. Specifically eyeing Aeon's End and Shadowrun. Do you think it's work starting with the original AE or just jumping straight to War Eternal? The art looks a lot better in War Eternal but I doubt we'll really care once we're actually playing lol. Anyways, awesome video! I can't wait to research these more.
HAHAHAH Yeah I love me some deck builders!! :) I will say go with War Eternal if you can, it is a great place to start and is the better game in my opinion! Also Shadowrun Crossfire may be hard to find, so Dragonfire is a good substitute! Regardless, you can't go wrong with any of those 3 for a co-op deckbuilder!! Enjoy and thanks so much for watching!
Patrick White Thanks for the suggestions! I do enjoy Mage Knight solo but I don’t think it’s something my wife would enjoy. Maybe though, I haven’t tried. I’ll check out the other recommendations though!
great top 10, got some cross over. I see in the back you have an unopened Alchemical Crystal Quest, any plans on a playthrough? there is nothing good uploaded yet.
Hmmm I still have it but haven't pulled the rules yet. Good idea though!
I really enjoyed Oh My Goods solo mode with the Revolt expansion.
Nice that's a good one!
Love your solo lists Colin! ☺
My Top 10(+1) Card games to Solo:
11. Rune Age
10. Friday
9. Splendor (Solo variant)
8. Quests of Valeria
7. Samurai Spirit
6. Pathfinder ACG (Rise of the Runelords)
5. Valeria: Card Kingdoms
4. Hero Realms Ruin of Thandar
3. Mistfall: Heart of the Mists
2. WarhammerQuest ACG
1. Aeon's End
NB I'm almost certain Gloom of Kilforth will be Number 1 when I get my copy! 😊
Nice list!! MISTFALL, I totally forgot about that one! I need to pull that out to remind myself of that one as I think it is a solid game for sure. Splendor has a solo variant? Is that on BGG? Thanks Shane so much for watching and commenting!
One Stop Co-op Shop
Yeah the new and improved rules of Heart of the Mists really boosted my opinion of Mistfall. I just wish it had more varied art on the cards.
Here's a link to the Splendor Variant :)
m.ruclips.net/video/fPLYpfBHfBw/видео.html
I just watched the splendor solo variant, and going to try that when I get back from Cali! :) Thanks for that, and I love Hans vids! I learned the base game of Mistfall, and have the expansion, so I need to learn the new rules and see if I like the game better. Thank you for reminding me!!
One Stop Co-op Shop No worries!
Have a safe trip :)
Why are the Heart of Mist rules better? Easier to understand? Improved game play? The first rulebook was a disaster. Such a shame because there was a very good game hidden in there. Also agree about the repetitive art. Understandable because good art is expensive. Prefer fewer pieces of good art to Legendary Firefly. Although, LF while playing the show and drinking some cocktails sounds like some weekend fun.
a lot new ones to try and get, that apex was so much fun playtrough still cant get it on amazon
Thanks!! Yeah I know apex is so hard to find. . . :( But it is such a good one!! Thanks so much for watching and I will wish you luck that you find a copy at some point!
Great job! Regarding Gloom of Kilforth, do you find the dice rolls are too random? This game caught my eye on their last KS but I was worried about that as an issue.
Jerrod, thank you for watching!! That is a hard one, the thing is I REALLY REALLY like the adventure, art, and gameplay of GoK but the system for skill checks just feels old to me. Rolling D6's and trying to get a 5 or 6. You do have ways to mitigate it such as fate tokens so that helps, but everything else in the game is so innovative I was hoping for something different. Of curse I say this, but I still pull out the game to play as it is just so much fun! So a short answer is no! A long answer is no, but it is one of the things that I do not like as much in the game! Hope that helps!
One Stop Co-op Shop Okay thanks, that is helpful. Btw, have you played any of the Pathfinder:ACG games? I feel like you’d enjoy those! Just be sure to read the extra fan-made story on BGG. You might also like 7th Continent for solo card games.
I have played Pathfinder, and I really liked it! I did get burned out after playing it for awhile, but I think now that I have taken a break from it I would enjoy it again! Do you think rise of the runelords is the best one to start out on or are some of the other ones better?
One Stop Co-op Shop I’d probably say Mummy’s Mask. And avoid Apocrypha- I was super excited for it but ended up disappointed.
Awesome thanks! I will check out Mummy Mask!! :)
I have avoided Aeon's End up 'til now because of the lack of a physical link to the table. E.g., I love the town in Shadowrift, the boards in the Legendary series. the locations and quests in LOTR:LCG. It's one of the things that put me off Shadowrun; my mind wanted something more to bring out the theme. Is there any connection in AE between your hands and what's on the board, or is more playing cards and adjusting dials?
Oh, and forgot to say, great video as always. One thing you avoid that others don't is repeating yourself endlessly. You trust your viewers to get what you say the first time.
Paul, first off thank you for the kind words about the top 10 list! You don't want to know how much time it takes to make sure I DON'T repeat myself tons of times! The joy of editing ha! Glad that you find that useful, and it really shortens the videos to a more manageable length. Now for Aeon's End I will say does suffer from the fact that you are just playing cards and moving dials. There is no board in Aeon's End, no locations to travel too, and no townsfolk to save. . . BUT the deck building mechanics is what makes me keep coming back to it. I would say I play Alien for the theme, but Aeon's End for the mechanics. Of course you can get BOTH of those in Ricky's Renegade! As long as you like the theme! Hope that helps!!
Thanks. Renegade is next on the table. I may pass on AE for now. Too many games still sit unplayed. And, I still have the beat that darned Journey down the Anduin quest!!!!!! Not easy using the recommended mono-sphere decks.
YES! You won't be disappointed with Renegade I think. Just remember if you ply the first time with the Alpha-Moby the game may feel easy, but as you move up on the SMC's that is where the fun and challenge lies. Also the Journey down the Anduin is HARD so don't feel bad! Hope you can beat it soon! Are you playing with progressive decks? Oh and I get it on Aeon's End, I feel you like thee in your games and this one the theme is there but it is WAY more about the mechanics.
I've been really enjoying Rune Age solo lately. I picked up a used copy (with the expansion) and it has been a blast. While it doesn't create an adventure feel, it great as a quick, unique deckbuilder. With six factions and two solo-able scenarios, it has some good replayability. Each faction feels unique. Where it really shines is in the variety of scenarios: co-op, semi co-op, competative (with or without player elimination), and one vs many.
I used to play a lot of Lord of the Rings. I need to get back in to it... But in a couple more years (I think), I should be able to have my son join me.
You are the second person to mention Rune Age! I need to look that one up for sure. I heard the replayability was minimal, but being able to play co-op solo or competitive is appealing. As for LOTR, get back to it!! hahahaha! IT is totally worth it, the game is amazing with a wonderful thematic experience. I too hope to have my son join me in 3 or so years. He is currently 4!
Rune Age isn't deep or complex, but if you are looking for a quick game, it works.
My son is 11. Arcadia Quest is more his speed, but he has just got into building decks for VS and fighting me. When he gets better at deck construction, then he'll be ready for LOTR... Maybe I'll show him one of your videos and see if that moves up the timeline.
If I can brag, my best two decks was one that made it through the whole mirkwood cycle, and one that made it through the whole kaza-Dûm... The next series was kicking my ass so I've been waiting for a second player.
Got you on Runebound. Arcadia Quest nice!! Hopefully you can show him the art of deckbuilding co-op as it is a very different experience than building for competitive play. I hope he likes the video's and wants to play!! Oh an your two decks sound awesome!!! Care to share just what type? Noldor? Gandalf? Dwarf? I love hearing other people strategies for building!!
I tried the kids on Runebound when the new version came out, but they didn't bite. I might be getting unbreakable bonds for Father's Day and will try again. We've been getting a lot of mileage out of pathfinder - rise of the rune lords.
It's been too long to remember the specific strategies, but I have the deck list. Khazâd-Dûm used dwarves, of course, but for mirkwood, it was mostly about Legolas and the Eagles for combat, Glorfinal and his horse for exploring and Bilbo for the card draw and some key lore cards.
Here's the list for that one. It was my favourite, but it didn't make thematic sense to take the Eagles into Moria.
Mirkwood Cycle Deck
Heroes:
- Glorfindel (Spirit)
- Legolas (Tactics)
- Bilbo (Lore)
Allies:
- Gandalf x2
- Radagast x2

- Lorien Guide x2
- Westfold Horse-breeder x3
- Eagles of the Misty Mountains x1
- Winged Guardian x2
- Vassal of the Winglord x2
- Gildor Inglorion x1
- Dori x1
- Daughter of the Nimrodel x1
- Master of the Forge x1
- Warden of Healing x1
- Henamarth Riversong x2
Attachments:
- Light of Valinor x2
- Map of Earnil x1
- Support of the Eagles x1
- Ring Mail x2
- Blade of Gondolin x2
- Asfaloth x1
- A Burning Brand x2
- Fast Hitch x2
- Protector of Lorien x1

- Will of the West x1
- Strength of Will x2
- Feint x2
- Hands Upon the Bow x2
- Lore of Imladris x1
AWESOME!!!! I am going to try and make this deck and play it if that is OK! I love trying out different ideas. Did you play this deck solo? Looks solid!
Hi, nice list. I didn't play 6 of them. I will play Lord of the Rings tomorrow, so one less to try out.
I only tried to play Dragonfire solo, but it was too much with 4 characters. With how many characters do you play it solo?
I will check out your Playthrough of Renegade. I saw the Kickstarter, but didn't back it and cannot remember why.
Currently, my favourite of these is Aeon's End.
Didn't play so far:
11. Warhammer Adventure Card Game
07: Arkham Horror
05: Apex Thoropod Deck-Building Game
03: Renegade
04: Gloom of Kilforth ( waiting for 2nd Printing to arrive)
01: Lord of the Rings the Card Game
Played
09. Legendary Encounters: An Alien Deck Building Game
Own
10. Fantasy Defense
08: Shadowrift
06: Dragonfire
02: Aeon’s End
Nice, you have played 5 out of 11 not bad! Let me know what you think of LOTR after you play it! I will say when I play Drgonfire solo I play 2 characters, 3 max. 4 is just too much upkeep. Renegade I have a feeling you will like a lot if you like Aeon's End. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! And good luck on your LOTR adventure!
Played LOTR 2 days in a row and about 4 rounds. I normally like deck building games, but I don't like to build a deck outside the actual game. The difficulty of the game also feels a bit odd. We tried an adventure with a difficulty of 7 (the one where you have to protect Gollum) and we drew 2 enemies right from the start which would not engage a player directly but would deal 8 damage each round. We could not kill them, because they would not be assigned to a player and would have lost 2 characters each round. We end the game at that point and talked about, how we theoretically handle with this one. This was the point, where I decided for my self, the game mechanics are good, but I am not interested in building and adjusting my deck for each adventure.
I really don't want to be one of those people, but...OMG that game has a dog ninja! How can I not look into that?
Haha that is the designer's nick name apparently!
Bonjour et merci pour cette excellente video.
(Please excuse my poor english) I am a bit surprise that your no. 7 so far away for your no. 1. Isn't 7 the 2.0 version of the other ?
Thank you for watching! Many people would say that no.7 is 2.0 of no. 1 but for me they are completely different games. The theme is one of the biggest reasons they are so far apart, but also how the game is played. No. 7 is much more about a single person, vs. no. 1 is all about the allies you bring etc. But that is just for me, and thank you again for watching and commenting!
Merci pour votre réponse rapide !
Other games to considerate : Sentinels of the Multiverse (one of the best!) , Dresden Files and the solo variant of Castle of Burgundy CG.
No problem, and great additions! I never could get into Sentinels. . . too many +1, -1's for my brain. I LOVE Dresden it is one of my favorites just missed the top 10. I haven't tried Castles yet!
Lord of the Rings over Arkham Horror??? Really? I own both. LOTR just the base game, AH core + all Dunwich...it's just so much better and quicker. Btw you have really great content on your channel and you are a nice person to watch playing games. Cheers from Italy :)
AH card game is great.
It is quite amazing!
HOW did you miss the Aventuria Adventure Card Game set in the world of The Dark Eye? The game scales it's difficulty based on the number of players
Hmmm I played it and it was good, but not in my top 10. I have a playthrough on the channel. For some reason it just didn't click as much for me!
One Stop Co-op Shop The expansions add a lot to the game
Good to know thank you!!
Where is Sentinels of the Multiverse? But good games there..
Not my jam I sold it 😁
How to get the lotr playmat in the eu?
Oh man, I wish I knew. . . . Trying Amazon or eBay? That would be my two guesses. My guess is Fantasy Flight does ship them out worldwide too if you check their website!
#foreveralone
HAHAHAHA! That is what Covid gets ya!
@@OneStopCoopShop lmao
It is a pity Warhammer Quest TACG had a brief life. So much potential gone to waste.
Renegade really seems to be a game that would be perfect to be implemented as a IOS app.
They already have it on Tabletopia! So who knows! BTW I am already setting up a Top 10 competitive games just for you :) Maybe not come out for a couple weeks, but know it is coming! Thanks for watching and the suggestions!
haha... Thanks!
Top 10 solo games. First game - oh, can’t play solo...
This is Mike, not Colin, but did you mean Warhammer Adventure Card Game? Why can't that be played solo?
I love your videos very much, but it's so confusing to look at pictures that don't match with what your' saying.
Hmm not usre what you mean. The game pictured is the game I am talking about?
One Stop Co-op Shop yes, but if you mention a "hero card" I expect to be shown a hero card, if you mention "1 or 2 investigators" (13:48) I expect to see investigators card, and so on. That would make me familiar with games I don't know :) But then again, the analysis and the content is great, I love it.
Got ya! I won't be able to do that, too much gosh darn work to re-video 10+ different games hahaha. I just use the video I already recorded from plays. Sorry! Thank you though for watching and the feedback!
@@OneStopCoopShop that's what I thought! :) but don't worry about my nitpicking, your videos are always cool
Thanks man!!! 😁
Arkham LCG is overrated, Warhammer one is dead, shame as the system was my favourite by far.
LOTR LCG still awesome, Gloom of Kilforth is very good too.
Too much killing and Fantasy themed. Not my cup of tea
veerchasm1 I fear that when I do my own top lists eventually the same may be true. Sorry! The co-op world is just too full of fantasy I guess!
Renegade has to be the most plain and ugly games ive seen lol
Ha! I don't seem to mind while playing
