I guess tony danza had like 9 or 10 wins and they were all ko i think..and most were in the first round...he was a bruiser..like a small tyson..but he did have 2 or 3 losses though...
Danza was pretty fricken good bro. His total career record was 9-3 all fights resulting in a knockout. You can tell he was a powerfull SOB, but highly skilled guys exposed his straight forward style. You can tell he probably blocked with his head more than his gloves. Lol!! Either way still proving to be pretty darn succesfull even at the pro level. If I had a pro career and my record was 9-3 with 9 KOs I'd hold my head high. Talk about a multi-talented individual. He scored almost perfect on
Danza was asked once in an interview, "isn't it true you sparred with Stallone and floored him once"? - he didn't want to answer it, he just looked down and grinned, )
"So the foist thing that they try to find out... the first round is usually the feel-out round, where they try to... nevermind match over already, shit"
I remember seeing this on an Ali tribute back in the early 90s. Right around the time Danza started doing TAXI. According to the boxrec page, he was a KO artist. Who knows how far he could have gone. Thing was that the middleweight division was a really TOUGH place to fight in the 70s and early 80s becaus of Hagler and all the guys from Philly.
Roy Jones Junior had his first L on his record for doing the same thing; hitting his opponent when he's down. But this was the 70s! He knocked his ass cold out of the ring lol! Love Tony
Old school Italian fighters. Back in day when neighborhoods fought for pride. Irish vs Italians. I grew up like that. Danza was a beast. And im irish lol
Then you get into the 'Irish mob vs the Italian mob'. I once had a guy who was half-Italian and half-Irish tell me that while the Italian mafia was violent, they could not match the Irish mob for sheer brutality.
I was visiting family in New York and went to a coffee shop on the Upper West Side. Tony was there enjoying his coffee and chatting with the people working there. Obviously he was a regular. I think his private persona and public persona are the same.
I'll never know. My Dad never told me about this fight & he passed away in 1981. He knew many great fighters & retired fighters. He took me to meet many of them though and I treasure those memories! :)
@@deesee3622 This fight took place before Tony did Taxi. My Dad would've known if Tony acted, because he also was involved with show biz folks. Tony might not have done any acting yet, in fact maybe his boxing got him his acting rolls. When Tony was paid more for acting and not get hit for it, I think he made the right decision.
@@deesee3622 Thank you Susan! I'll never know. My Dad passed away in 1981 and I never knew that he assisted in the commentary because I was living in Chicago at the time. I had a Cousin who thought he heard his Uncle Harold's voice on an ESPN boxing show many years ago. They probably featured the bout because Tony was in it. It wasn't until RUclips that this came to my attention 13+ years ago.
There are many oldtime boxers, but we met Jake LaMotta & De Niro when they were filming Raging Bull in the late '70s. He was good friends with Gerry Cooney who lost to Larry Holmes for the Heavyweight Championship. He knew many oldtimers like Joe Louis, Willie Pep, Ben Jeby, Ruby Goldstein. We'd be at many Veteran Boxer's Banquets "Ring 8" in NYC. I was real young and was shaking hands with guys who were sweet, but very punch drunk. :)
I wish Tony Danza would have stayed more in the boxing world more than he did just acting. He even sparred with Sylvester Stallone and Sly COULDN'T HANG with him. This guy is SERIOUSLY UNDERESTIMATED
From 1976 to 1979, Danza was a professional boxer with a 9-3 record.[citation needed] All his wins and losses were by knockout.[citation needed] He quit fighting when he landed a role on the TV situation comedy Taxi.
Well..first off, he wasn't a good boxer in real life. He was simply fighting an even worse one. And second...while you could understand a decent boxer (which Tony still wasn't) giving it up for a lucrative acting career, you would NOT believe that a boxer with any sort of shot at even low level titles would give it up to drive a taxi overnight.
Hey, you never know, he might have gone on to be a great boxer. But he got his big break in acting, not boxing. Had it not worked out that way, who knows what might have happened with his boxing career. He's definitely a very talented person and a good guy too. Who's the Boss is one of the greatest shows in the history of television.
Danza would have been a journeyman ,like a Mickey Ward or a Freddie Roach to name guys people are familiar. Danza got the lucky break of a lifetime and never looked back ..Good for him great guy class act
Its an italian thing man, I have that hair too. Lol! I usually only grow it out and sport it in the winter though. Its a great due, no gel or artificial products just let it fly. People forget how cool the feather look is until someone has balls enough to wear it in this day and age. Lol!
If you are going to do it, remember it right. The way he said those names was as far from adding an R to their names as you could possibly get. It was Angeluhhhh. It was Tony Danza..not Mayor Quimby.
Tony Danza is the only other actor who could have played the character of Rocky Balboa and pulled it off successfully.
Thanks for posting this fight! That is my deceased Dad Harold commentating! This is a treasure!!!
Really
@Juiced Out Thanks! It's just nice to hear my Dad's voice. He passed away in 1981.
Your dad is a good commentator
@@kevinduane4744 Thank you very much Kevin!!! I really appreciate it!!!

Guess that guy shouldn't have made a pass at Samantha...
He showed him who's the Boss!
Did he cry out, "ANGELAAA!" after winning.
Maybe, but this time HE is the boss. LoL!
Great ! Thanks for uploading, never ever saw a Tony Danza fight !

LOL
Didn't know that total bad ass! Much respect. Awesome, he was smart enough to choose acting.

To bad he's not in film and TV so much anymore but he was in a pretty good Christmas film a few years ago, i think called steeling christmas.

Real talk
Dude, how did I not know about this!!??
Truthfully, that was a DQ. Tony hit him twice while he was on the ground.
Damn, he's a beast! He beat the hell out of that dude.
anyone know where i can find more of Tony’s matches? can’t seem to find them myself.
Thank you Adam Carolla show for the plug on this great video!
Tony Danza rules!
Danza is the man!
Before he turned professional Danza was a schoolteacher. He schooled this guy!
in fareness.... Danza was 9-3 and fought complete nobodies..... but damn he is a great actor!
amazing :)
would be hilarious to see a smaller guy like danza beat someone much bigger with his superior fighting skills.
Cool video. Is Harold Harold Lederman who was on hbo for a long time?
So, Tony went through twelve matches, and the results were 9 wins to only 3 losses. Those are good enough stats
Another interesting fact is that ALL of his fights ended in KO. If I ever met him I would like to ask him what was his mentality going into a fight.
From 1976 to 1979, Danza was a professional boxer with a 9-3 record.[citation needed] All his wins and losses were by knockout.[citation needed] He quit fighting when he landed a role on the TV situation comedy Taxi.
You don't need the citation anymore. It's documented on Boxrec.

Had Tony Danza not been immediately given the part in Taxi right after this fight I wonder how his boxing career might have gone.
