I remember the first time I heard this song I was in the middle of reading a famous actor had passed away…Omar from “The Wire.” It was surreal while this song was playing. So otherworldly.
MONOLINK: I do genealogy, and have also had my genes done for Ancestry and Health. I love interesting family trees, and wondered, "What makes your family history interesting for you, that you think others might enjoy or learn from?" My interesting thing is, not knowing I had African ancestors until I tested, proving one ancestor lied, and hid her lineage, because racism was so terrible back then, being able to pass was considered a blessing by some. Passing robbed me of knowing things that happened that changed lives and our family history. My part Native ancestors actively passed as well, though my family kept the memory of their existence alive.
