  • Mt Skene 4x4 Winter action - Mt Sunday Road
    We spent 3 days exploring the Mt Skene region, in the Victorian High Country. Part 3 covers the Mt Sunday Road. Awesome track for middle of winter! Plenty of challenging hillclimbs and tight obstacles. We had almost finished it by 2pm, when we hit the last 300 metre hillclimb. This proved too much for the Prado to drive under its own power, and so out came the tow rope and winch cable!

    This is one of the riskiest Hill climbs I've seen for a while. Good job. I can tell you guys have done a bit of this. Need more aggressive tyres to do the top bit

    There is a reason why bushwalking can be quicker and less hazardous in such terrain. The same goes for XC ski touring.

    Great vid guys. Can't help but think if you let some air out you could have crawled up that tough one. You could have gone as low as 12-14PSI. You look like you were running in the 20's.

    • @TorrentialReign
      @TorrentialReign  7 лет назад

      Thanks for the feedback. As usual the video doesn't show how steep and slick that climb is. We were both running 18psi. Yes, easily could gone lower, but decided we didn't want to mess around with doing a bead on a tyre.

    • @TorrentialReign
      @TorrentialReign  8 лет назад

    But at least he had a go?
    Perhaps a Patrol will be his next car.

    • @TorrentialReign
      @TorrentialReign  7 лет назад +3

      Yeah it's all about having a crack regardless of what your driving. And if u watch the video for part 1 of this trip you will see that this Prado can actually go further then the average patrol!😆

    • @Aishiteimusu
      @Aishiteimusu 7 лет назад

      Then what? You did not finish??

    • @TorrentialReign
      @TorrentialReign  7 лет назад

      If your referring to the track in the part 1 video, well, after both the patrol and Prado (which got twice as far as the patrol ;) failed to get more then half way up, I turned around, drove back down and we hit another track instead. I couldn't be bothered dragging both of them up behind me lol. The patrol called it quits and headed home shortly after.

    • @Aishiteimusu
      @Aishiteimusu 7 лет назад

      In a sedan chassis vehicle with AWD like a Subaru you will crack the chassis . You won't have the clearance, traction or power. It will be safer to Just walk !.

      We were both in low range the whole time, running 18psi. Could have gone lower pressure but didn't want to roll a bead. I often had both diff locks engaged. I think you have to wrap your head around the fact that footage of 4wding can be very deceptive.

    A breath of fresh air to watch some quality 4x4 skills. Just been watching some half wits on Bribie Island getting bogged and abusing the shit out of their vehicles. They didn't even know how to use a snatch strap. You guys knew what to do and knew what your trucks could do. Well done. P.S. Have a look at some of the bogged vids on Bribie. Sure you will get a laugh.
