I wish the attachments would show the actual percentage that they will affect each stat, so you’d know how much you would be sacrificing/gaining by adding it.
@@Limpchimps I am still trying to figure out what "rechamber accuracy" even does for the marksman atachments lmao. What am I gonna do, miss rechambering a bullet?!
It’s such a weird feeling not using up all the available attachment slots after coming from vanguard, since you basically needed all the attachments to compete well in that game
Biggest thing I hated about vanguard, I never owned the actual game but grinding those guns in warzone was such a chore since you need a lot of attachment to make the gun good in most cases.
I feel that in a game with so many attachment options that it’s a little strange it would harm you so much for using all five slots. Hope they rebalance some of the cons to make maxing your attachments viable
Agreed it makes no sense. It would be like the best cars in a racing game being the best ones. Or the best build in an RPG being no perks, no skills, no traits etc!
I feel a little differently. I think attachments should make things easier with great cost. Having trouble with recoil? Use a muzzle brake at the cost of ads speed, or get better with the gun.
@That Gamer Guy why that's not what most attachments do in real life and whats the poing in a game all about unlocking shit for your guns when those things make the gun worse. What you're describing is how the game currently is.
@@thatgamerguy8441 I agree that there should be balancing but I feel like a lot of attachments are too punishing and not easily cancelled out by other attachments, so you end up with all these attachments that have some pros and a lot of cons towards your gun
To anyone struggling in this game I highly recommend any of the AK family. Kastov or whatever. And iron sights. They fire like lasers and are snappy as hell. These were the first guns I was using where I started noticing more attachments were not ideal
Definitely an amazing addition, and that ability pairs well with using smaller mags on your primary, as those give a ton of speed-related bonuses for being smaller.
@@BleedingUranium Unfortunately you get fast hands like 8 minutes into the damn game so you get caught in the staged reload animation a lot (especially with the fennec for example). I can actually sometimes cancel the reload but other times I can't. I don't get what I'm doing differently the times that it works though.
@@pricklycats Sure, but that's also just something to keep in mind. Saved reload progress is a fantastic addition and is incredibly helpful; it only hurts when you put yourself in that situation yourself. Switching to your pistol is now finally faster than reloading (or reload cancelling).
@@pricklycats in the beta I did some testing : in short, if you didn't swap the mag, you can reload cancel, if the mag is out you must finish It should also change from weapon to weapon, so for some weapon there may be a larger "reload cancel window" than others
I’m glad I’m not the only one that noticed this. It feels impossible to set up a gun without it impacting it so negatively. I agree that they should tone down the negative affects so it doesn’t feel so hindering
You can't have the best of both worlds. That is what their goal is. It promotes more gun variety. Either run it fast, or run it accurate. You don't get both. I would just recommend trying out different setups, even ones you may not have considered before. There is a sweet spot for every gun. trust
this is like in battlefield 4 where some attachment combos made the guns worse which i think a attachment system should have very slight positives and no negatives. seems the same with this game.
The gunsmith in this game should have worked along with the attachment tuning system once you've reached max level for a gun, and you may want to avoid stacked with attachments before that. Said if you are given four benefits for a suppressor, but you only want the increased bullet velocity and the suppressor effect, you should be able to mitigate the effect of other two benefits in favor of better weapon handling even if you are adding more weight on your weapon. There are multiple variants of suppressor that have more emphasis on one specific stat over the others, such as more emphasis on the range or the recoil control, and this is similar on other (supposedly) tunable attachments. Tuning should also provide more diversity in weapon customization. Sadly the attachment tuning is offline and there aren't detailed weapon stats presented in the game right now.
There's a tac laser you get for leveling the signal-50 to 3 that increases ADS a bit with no negative drawback like enemies seeing the laser. I believe it can go on any or most guns.
@@talessin Mainly ARs and SMGs I think. there are some guns it can't go on, but there's another one you can unlock by using the Expedite 12 shotgun that can go on a few more guns.
I think using attachments are more useful for grinding and doing challenges. For example: making a hip-fire only build for the MP7's hip-fire challenge.
I was definitely starting to feel that some of my guns felt worse with lots of attachments. Not crippling but they started being less predictable or reliable. Mp7 really got worse with any barrells. There will be a big balance patch coming I feel
This is what I have learned. Mix and match and test different attachments per weapon. Some weapons have horrible barrels and it’s better to use a suppressor that acts like a barrel. Some suppressors suck and it’s better to use a barrel. Sometimes grips are horrible but stocks are best and sometimes it’s the opposite. There is no meta of “use this grip fro SMG’s or that barrel for AR’s.” Each weapon so far is vastly different from my experience. Except battle rifles…. Only one I can use is the TAQ V. The rest of them just plain suck IMO.
I think the main thing that is messing with the guns being unbalanced is that they turned off the attachment tuning, theoretically you could balance the trade offs a little better.
@@xX-Logic- I noticed that earlier. I hope it comes back soon because I was maxing out ARs and hoping to do some tweaking to guns and find some cool combinations.
I think they learnt their lesson after Vanguard and it's `Frankenguns` where you slap 10 attachments onto a gun and it becomes something otherworldly. I like the way we don't really have to use a particular attachment to get ahead. There are clear pros and cons. I started using guns with 1 or 2 attachments because I saw it primarily affects the ADS speed negatively.
Honestly I liked that you could slap 10 attachments into a gun, I mean, realistically, what's the reason you couldn't fit a grip if you have 5 other mods? but ya, they should have major consequences when doing that though.
@@The_MEMEphis tbh looking at most of the killcams I end up getting, enemies can see me plenty fine without me being able to see myself on their screen, so the ones that show during ADS don't seem to be that much of a change from the norm.
I was already not filling all the slots so its nice to see someone that knows way more than me doing the same. It seems like the cons of each attachment out weigh the pros a majority of the time. Having the firing range to quickly test gun after each change is super handy.
I feel like the attachments should enhance gun performance, not hinder it. Definitely, there should be tradeoffs, but when you're better off leaving a gun stock, I think something needs to change with the balancing.
If nothing changes, then it'll be interesting to see how players adjust. Maybe it'll encourage players to use their secondary more to compensate for their primary's weaknesses, or maybe hip-firing will become a lot more common since ADSing is riskier.
@@beefr0mi105 please don't speed up the game. Og mw2 wasn't about hipfire and was even slower. Please don't speed up, let sweaty players play warzone or any other serial shit nowadays shooters presents

I've found that the best way for me to build out the guns I've been using is to counter balance and accept that one or two stats are going to drop. Then I minimize the impact to those stats through smart picks. It's getting a lot easier to do this as I unlock the joined trees for each platform. I also love how quick I can jump into the shooting range to give a quick test.
I think this was their intention. You can get some benefits but at the cost of another useful stat. Otherwise everyone would be using the same 5 attachments
Same, I really like that there's some thought involved. Not everyone has the same playstyle, even across gun categories, so modifying your gun to suit how you play feels great to me.
I love the shooting range, but I hope when dmz/warzone drops they just do like Pavlov did and have a room full of guns you've unlocked and attachments you've unlocked so you can just grab and mix and match without leaving the range.
it is a very hard system to balance and I appreciate that they are approaching this with some care. Keep in mind as you said people haven't got everything unlocked yet so its hard to tell what will become meta when more details are known. that being said the fact that there WILL be a meta when "the best" attachments are is important to keep in mind when suggesting changes. I don't want IW to buff a few things now, just for them to take over the early meta and disincentivize creativity game exploration.
I pretty much said this during the beta. What works well if having a ranged weapon that is all about accuracy and having a 2nd weapon that's all about mobility, use one for close up and moving about the map and the other for sniping
Overkill for the win, one assault rifle with good range, good ads sight and good movement speed then smg/shotgun made to be used without ads and high movement speed. That's a majority of my class.
Some feel better with attachments, others definitely feel like a hindrance. Even the early level grinds with some guns feels like torture before getting things that accelerate ADS, other guns it just feels like it's sorta better but starts worsening in other directions. Most in match experiences have told me that they favored marksman and sniper rifles though seeing that everyone has been running quick scope builds or just camping/wall mounting a lot of the time.
I feel like the devs were trying to promote weapon tuning, but since weapon tuning has been removed, we haven’t been able to turn the weapons into mobility builds or recoil control builds
Honestly it’s all a nightmare. I’m about to get gold on the 556 Icarus and it has been horrible. None of the attachments I use that I have do much of anything for sprint to fire or ADS. In no universe is there a time where I can run around with an LMG in this game and expect to do well. Im always going to get outgunned by an SMG or 1-2 shot by a rifle. So this makes me think I have to go the opposite route and just use all recoil control/dmg range attachments so I’m just a heavy gunner that sits back or posts up most of the time while I’m using this LMG. It is so difficult to actually run and gun with certain weapons so in my honest opinion it’s better to just max dmg and range. My favorite play style since I started playing cod so long ago has been to rush with SMG or AR. So the fact that I’m pretty much forced to sit back in a lot of cases sucks. Idk the whole game feels clunky and like it really does punish rushing. Unfortunate but whatever 😂.
@@FuneralK9 Just getting the first LMG to be half decent with reaction time was torture! The funniest I did was out ammo a camper, he may have had a better gun, but I'm here spewing 100 rounds at you and you decided that I was "low" and went to pop out a shot only to take one to the face.
@@EagleTempest lmao that’s exactly the struggle. I just sit there and spray people. Sometimes it’s ok to play that way though especially in bigger objective game modes. Either way I’m actually having a ton of fun. I can’t wait to get these last double kills and move onto the next gun. Also the way they have everything setup actually is cool to me because it forces me to use different guns and have fun. Usually every cod I just do one weapon category at a time in order. ARs then SMGs then battle rifles etc etc until mastery camo completion. Now I’m actually using different weapons within the weapon platform and having a lot of fun unlocking attachments even though I don’t know if I’m using the right ones lmao.

Rawinstinct did this stuff 10 years ago and just stole ALL his information from the RUclipsrs who actually did all the testing. Probably from xclusive ace lol
Wow I just noticed this a couple days ago and thankfully ran across this video! Thank you for the explaination and suggestions! I got the M13B and went in just plain to level it up and was just destroying people. After leveling it up a bit I started to throw on attachments and was struggling. Good stuff.
There are some game modes where I can afford to take a hit on ads speed, movement and sprint to fire speed in exchange for recoil control, damage range, aiming stability benefits such as invasion and ground war. In the large maps, I can experiment more with different attachments whereas in 6v6 I have to prioritize ads and sprint to fire speed
Don't tell anyone but the canted laser attachment adds aim down sights speed, sprint to fire speed, AND aiming stability. Imo its the best attachment in the game and its super fun and cool to use.
This is literally what I've been thinking all the time while levelling up my guns. I started levelling the AUG today, and it ended up with me using it without any attachments to max level. Anything I put on that thing just made it worse, and it already melts stock.
I felt the same with AK103 (the black 762 AK). I am refusing to add any any attachments to it. I guess i will only run it with a laser that offers 2 pros with zero cons, and, the PP Bison's stock, which seems to be worth it! Nothing else. This is ridiculous, attachments exist to improve weapons, not to make make them worse. Trade offs are needed for balancing purposes, but at the moment this is absolute nonsense!
Excellent comments and you definitely got a point. Maybe the best option concerning MW2 is having two weapons with opposite configurations: extreme stability and extreme response time, and keep swapping between them as you walk around or camp anywhere.
This definitely made me feel better because I was noticing literally every time I added a attachment it was not going good but then when I have no attachments it’s like amazing! like the M4 with no attachments is my favorite!!
Totally different for me on the M4, AUG, MX9 and all snipers so far though, lachmann 762 and sub too. Especially for the AUG, the right setup us worlds beyond the base setup, one just has to sacrifice one stat however important it may be, its aiming stability for me. Works well for offensive TDM
Lol yeah seems like everyone hates the lachmann, it’s tolerable on full auto kinda like a worse AK but definitely not something I plan to use beyond leveling it
@Bob Sucks It isn't supposed to be used full auto but it shreds if you learn how to use semi auto mode. Build a fast ADS loadout and you dominate in the close range. 2 shot kills with 1 shot heads hots is really OP.

I think that will change once the "tune" feature of each attachment is fully explored. I only say this because of videos ive watched that go in depth on how the tuning aspect works. You can almost get the perfect balance each of a gun or you might like a certain style better than another and using the tune option u can get the best out of it especially specificly atratchments that obviously lean towards one style.

you can also alleviate the drawbacks somewhat by changing up your playstyle, switching to a more proactive approach over a reactive approach worked really well. Its also hilarious beaming down bunnyhopping corner peekers by just slowing down a bit and pre-aiming the corner
I think in an ideal situation having one attachment with pro ADS and con recoil control as well as a pro recoil control and con ADS attachments, should net you something like a marginally positive outcome on both, not entirely canceling each other out.
@@notreal1477 If you add a bunch of attachments that make your gun longer and heavier it makes sense that it would make it slower to handle and decrease your ADS and sprint to fire speed. The upside is that the gun likely now has better stability and range. It's just a matter of matching your playstyle with your attachments, and another issue is that people are still trying to play this game super fast and twitchy by sprinting around everywhere and that style of movement is already starting at a disadvantage.
iirc as is, it’s a actually a net negative, they don’t cancel out, the cons outweigh the pros. so you end up with worse recoil and ads than you started with
Thank you, that was very useful info. Although I'm still a noob in this game, I'd already felt intuitively that I was making the guns worse filling up all the slots... I think I'm particularly sensitive to ADS speed as I tend to rush around the map BUT I instinctively ADS even when I should hip fire instead. I hadn't realised quite how dramatic the aim stability thing is - that's the main point I'll bear in mind going forward, because I also found my long range accuracy was feeling worse rather than better - it may well have been that.
Its been temporarily removed due to a crashing bug, but I feel a lot of these issues can be reasonable once weapon tuning returns. When it was still in the game I had alot of issued with ADS speed because of the attachments i wanted however when I tuned some of them to have better ADS speed I was able to benefit from those attachments while also having better ADS speed
I was about to comment with the same thing, haha. I think the MW2 folks intended to implement more cons but would give you the ability to “tune” the weapon to counter those cons if you wished, or simply double down on whatever stat you were trying to boost with your attachments. Hopefully once they fix it we’ll see a difference. At this point we’re working with an incomplete project.
Yea but folks shouldnt have to spend all that time trying to fine tune stuff.. That's their job.. I've played cod since the beginning but I only play casually because of having to run a business full time and I just don't have the time to do all that. Lol
@@nightryder16 it's not like weapon tuning is a grind though? It's not something time consuming, just max out your favorite gun that you're already using alot and then you can tweak settings around. Customization. Player choice.
Looking forward to all your content and testing outcomes for this game. These videos are the reason I’m glad I stayed subbed since MW2019 even tho I didn’t play the last 2 CODs
I feel this might be true. I was using one of the marksman rifles for the camo grind and found it was super strong without having any attachments, but when I added attachments to make it stronger and faster, I found I was getting way more hit markers rather than kills.
Great vid! Are you going to do one on weapon tuning as well? I'm wondering if that's a way that putting 5 attachments on is always beneficial when you can add or subtract specific stats
I feel that this balancing issue comes forth more without the tuning of the attachments and that was compensating for a lot of downsides on it for what i tested with my class when it was available. I feel that once weapon tuning is back it will help the recce builds that most of us do for the game, only time will tell about it
@Jeff Tilley It is back with this update they have released but to what degree it will affect weapons we'll have to see once we can get in and check it out. So get ready for your recce builds time to hunt
Gun guide for what? He just told us attachments are making the guns worse. Normally I’d be excited for gun guides too, but this sucks. I want the game to be great, I just hope they make attachments viable…
I feel like the visible ads lasers are way more viable in this game. It feels like they boost ads a lot and with how good base hipfire is, the visibility isn't too bad.
Interesting, I think they just get people killed. Those lasers may as well be going off in a pitch black room, they’ve given away enemies so many times.
@@angelsaucedo9227 Flash hiders are 100% worth it. They make it easier to see while firing. Stabilize your recoil a bit. Also, they provide a better mental placebo that makes you feel like you're in control of your sprays. Plus, the enemy can't see your muzzle flashes anymore. They're more useful than suppressors this year.
I personally love the fact they have a ton of aiming instability, heavy recoil and long ADS. I love realism in games, and this is getting closer to what real-life is like at times. I am VERY good with guns in real life, but even with years of experience and training, my sights never perfectly rest on target. For instance, I have a very highly modded AR15 with a good $2000 into it. It's lightweight, and easy to aim and maneuver, but you actually do feel recoil when you fire, a lot more than other heavier guns in the same platform (even though 556 has very light recoil as is). By contrast, I also have a much heavier AR with a tuned barrel and bi-pod that's for distance competition. It's so heavy you hardly feel any recoil )not that 556 has much anyway), but you also can't quickly acquire targets like you can with my lighter one. This system in MW2(2) means there are trade-offs just like reality. It's a system of balance. What are you willing to sacrifice VS what you gain?
Have you done any testing with the Focus perk? Interested to know if there is a significant improvement in flinching less when the perk becomes active or if it’s better to run an attachment that reduces flinch instead.
To me it seems like flinch is almost non existent in this game so I don’t see a reason to run this or any of the “flinch resistance” attachments. People can ads an one shot you with a marksman rifle after you’ve shot them 2-3 maybe even 4 times. There needs to be more flinch.
I agree with most of this. I was definitely starting to notice the drawbacks of most of the attachments and how many you use. One of my biggest peeves is a long time problem in most shooters in that they always have all optics reduce ADS. In reality, the weight of most modern low-to-no magnification red dots and holographic sites is negligible and vastly increase your ability to aquire your target quickly. I get that a thermal hybrid or a full size sniper scope would slow you down; but there's no excuse for a Holosun, a monocle, or even an EOTech style sight to be increasing your ADS. CoD has the same problem with grips and stocks too; they are given stats and effects that have no connection or understanding to how they actually work.
The problem for the developers is that the downside in real life of most of these attachments is just that they are more expensive or hard to get ahold of. That’s kind of hard to translate into the game, especially where balance has to be factored in, so they end up with stats that really dont relate to what the attachment actually is.
And they are pairing this with "realistic" visual recoil and a lot of visual screen clutter, which is just contradictory. Do you want to make it realistic or not?
@@GoogleAccount-tg9lp meh, they overthink the balancing so much that it escapes logic though. Most of the attachments, especially when you factor in the debuffs that don't make sense, are net negative on your gun which negates the whole point of having them. Most of these attachments should have little to no drawback; that's why they exist in the first place. And they could make the better ones with less negative traits or "more expensive" or high tech ones be unlocked later or through challenges. Got 100 camos that I won't use under challenges, we can do the same for attachments. That's how they used to do it anyway.
That's why I hate people who either complain/praise the state of realism in call of duty. If realism was such a factor in development of this game, then these little things should not affect the game in such a way it does.
So crazy I came across this I was just thinking about how the attachments sometimes don’t make sense to put on at times like the first 2ks and honestly Little m4 too
As long as the sliding bars that show performance are accurate, then none of this should be a problem, really, because you can see what improves and diminishes when an attachment is selected. I used a battle rifle that seemed pretty effective at close range as well as medium range. Once I installed an optic (the only attachment I installed) the short range effectiveness seemed to suffer, although not much changed at all on those sliding scales when I attached it. It may have been just me but I did question the accuracy of those sliding bars when an attachment is installed.
Pretty sure IW intention might be to make people not just focus one one singular meta build, and wanted people to build the gun how they prefer and encourage them to try some stuff up and go to the gun range to test it. Hence why there are negatives on the gun, but they do need to tweak stuff a bit especially guns that have too much downside for no reason.
It would be a great idea as it is in Battlefield games. CoD is too reliant on ADS time since it's a very fast paced shooter with "instant" TTK you usually have no chance to make it up with accuracy if you get hit first.
The battle rifles are the biggest offenders of this problem. So fucking slow to ADS when you build it out yet no amount of recoil attachments ever help them, meanwhile their smaller calibre parts in the platform just flatout outperform them with minimal investment. Seriously this balance is such an inexcusable joke. They have 20 years of game development experience and they still somehow struggle to get this stuff right on day one when they've gotten it right in their past games. It's just pathetic.
@@GinsengStrip-wt8bl i wouldn't say ttk is instant but this games vanilla does feel a bit better than other titles. I'm always a hardcore player, i dont enjoy having someone eat a headshots. So i never notice these issues. mw2019 the ak was a 2 tap max at long range. Usually one tapped. Their decision to not have hardcore at launch was stupid tho
@@lungcanc3r666 there's nothing wrong with ttk for me either. I just mentioned it in terms of balance. With such fast TTK a lot of attachments become useless when they reduce ADS too much and encounters in CoD are usually close range.
That’s crazy that they setup the attachments that way. After making such a big deal about this new receiver unlock and attachment system. Thanks for the info Ace; great video as always!
I noticed this and i thought I was just crazy. Allot of the positives on attatchments dont outway the negatives and so i found as i would level up a gun and add more things the gun would become worse no matter what combination i used. I noticed this specificly on the lachman 556 which shredded with nothing but with attatchments it felt terrible.
I was thinking the same as I was playing. But I was so used to feeling the need to fill all slots that I thought I must be crazy. Thanks for the video. It is actually nice to play more tactically sound and not being able to hop and slide all over the place. Anyone who has worn a kit and been in real combat knows all that is bull anyway.
It’s a video game, we’re already sitting on our ass playing the game u think I’m trying to sit my ass waiting around a corner for someone to pop up in a game and act like it’s real life?
I hate both styles. This style makes it so no attachments are really all that good and you use next to nothing. The old style made meta builds even worse and everyone always ran around with the same shit.
Very helpful Ace! I think on larger maps like in Ground War I’ll use more attachments for recoil and range/velocity even if it’s slower but on 6v6 maps or for my close quarter weapon less attachments may be the move
Awesome vid Ace as always. Have you tried Tune weapon after attachments? Makes a difference.. try all slots then tune weapon. ;) keep up the awesome work!
this is a great video. i did not know about the major draw backs of putting attatchments. like a noob i was putting 5 attatchments and getting out gunned at close range. i was playing alot better w/ guns that did not have attatchements. i found it odd that my k/d was down when i put attatchments on guns. thanks for the clerification
There is always going to be some kind of draw back to "upgrades". Do keep in mind that the tuning feature for the mods has been disabled which may make the difference. I do find it extremely odd that add any kind of sight causes zoom speed to lower when a red dot never slows down your transition IRL but whatever lol
@@twanheijkoop6753 I think the devs probably never shoot lol. When I bought my legion it was my first handgun with a red dot and man, that felt like a serious adjustment at first. Looking for the dot and dot placement if you aren't used to it does slow you down compared to irons. However once you train it becomes way quicker. Considering in CoD everyone is an operator, it should speed up, but since the devs more than likely have little to no experience, that could be a driving force lol
I personally do like the idea that not using attachment always is also an option compared to the META spam in vanguard and warzone lately However, they can perhaps reduce the tradeoffs slightly like instead of hurting the aiming stability by 5%, it now hurts by 3% and so on
Completely agree with this. And ultimately leads to more diverse builds and capabilities. We should have to think about trade offs. In the past the pros have largely been way better than the cons. Currently just needs a better balance. Hopefully they don’t over rotate on it. And we meet in the middle somewhere
If for some random reason you have only 3 slots filled with attachments and just can’t figure out what you want. Throw on the under barrel attachment for your gun that only has the pro of increased aim stability. Another great one to do is throwing a laser on your weapon. If you dislike the fact the laser is shown to the enemy then you can use the laser that is usually afforded to every gun that doesn’t show when ads. Personally I use the lasers that do show do to the fact that I play at a faster pace and are usually only aimed down sights for a second at most. But that is two attachments that have zero downsides. Since it suits my play style I hardly ever need to have free attachment slots cause I usually use them all on ads speed and sprint to fire. If those attachments take to big of a toll on my weapons recoil and cause to much sway, I usually go and try to find an under barrel attachment the provides the decrease in recoil and sway while not tanking my ads and/or sprint to fire.
I'm really liking the laser attachment that helps with ads speed and aiming stability only downside is you can see the laser it's pretty much a tac laser from mw19
I think you should be able to fill all the attachments slots instead of just 5 and keep the pros and cons. Therefore you could balance your weapon at that point. Finally if that's to OP for 6v6 maps then do it for the tier 1 players. In my opinion I feel it would add to the realism of tier 1 sine I can do it in real life.
Did you do any testing on the downsized magazines for the guns? I tried out the 20-round magazine on the AK-47 as a joke, but it actually turned out really well (especially with fast hands- the reload time is extremely fast).
Been feeling the same way with attachments, i hope they buff some of them because most of them are pretty much useless now. The only ones i've been using were all types of Damage ranges ones while trying to keep a decent ADS time, but i might remove them because i haven't really noticed any TTK differences with them on.
A lot of the damage ranges seem super short in this game so if you get 10% increase to an already small number it wouldn't make much difference probably
Definitely have to agree that one or 2 attachments is often the right move. Was able to get to level 55 pretty early so I've been grinding cammos and found that I really only use optics, mag attachments, and suppressors. The rest kill your movement so if you have even decent recoil control you should dominate most lobbies...
I agree with this exactly. Mags, sights, and suppressors. Maybe one of the really weak grips that only has a single positive like +Recoil something, but those barely affect it.
my muzzle attachment is the FTAC Castle Comp for basically all weapons that allow it to be put on. IDK why but the gun feels a lot better with that attachment. There's also a variant of it with the exact same stats but i forgot the name.
I definitely felt this levelling lmgs. Doing anything to the recoil/accuracy painfully tanked handling/mobility, and doing anything with the handling tanked recoil. I often had only 3 or 4 attachments in use on my lmgs.
Yeah i agree, its cuz theyre building for warzone so its all about the long range, battle rifles will be OP for a few weeks then get nerfed into the ground like the dmr.
@@nathjones2011 Battlerifles and Marksman rifles already feel bad at long range imo, you need to hit 3 or 4 shots to get a kill but you have only 10 or 20 rounds and a lot of recoil, it is easier to just hit 6 shots with an M4. Ironically I actually think they feel better at close(ish) range where the recoil doesn't take you right off target and you can get a 2 shot kill or a single headshot kill.
tbf with overkill being a very eats perk to run, it might be a good idea to run a very stable long-distance rifle with no recoil and a run-and-gun SMG that'll help you push to the positions you want to set up in.
Ace I just wanna say I love your videos and thanks to you it’s made me a better cod player. I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me and the community. More than you know.
The suppressor that helps with recoil smoothness is my favorite. Doesn't seem to drastically improve the recoil but it's better than the other suppressors because it only hurts damage range slightly. But again not noticeable.
@@voltdripz2938 No, it does. It just “smooths out” the big jumps in recoil and makes them more uniform. However, it does not affect the overall recoil.
I actually like filling out the attachments on the shotguns in this game. I focused heavy on movement speed and ADS speed for quick sprinting one pumps, and then grabbed one attachement to reduce pellet spread so I could still have some sort of hip fire accuracy. It feels really strong
@@BrockHarrington Bryson 800. I barely use the hipfire, but having a smaller spread makes it so only partly ADS-ing is more accurate still. So like a half hipfire
I often overload to one side. I like recoil control semi auto weapon which we finally have in abundance this game. What I have been doing for movement speed and close quarters combat is leveling the pistols. The quick draw handles with either the full auto pistol x13 I think, or snake shot on the revolver doesn't seem bad. Plus, if I lose the engagement, at least i looked cool doing it.
Absolutely what I've been feeling, better to only take 1-2 attachments rather then take the huge penalties. The only exception I've found are smgs, where maximizing hip fire and movement speed at the cost of anything else turned out way better.
It’s weird that they would make it so severe. They were boasting about their new gunsmith system yet it really isn’t worth using. They’ve essentially gutted build crafting and the incentive to want to grind for anything really. When all of the guns have such high ttk why would I want to level a weapon that needs another weapon leveled, to get an attachment that requires a different gun to level when I can just rock pretty much any weapon? They already made getting camos extremely easy so it feels like an empty grind.
@@arcticowl1091 I’ve seen the attachments make more of difference on the TAC automatic rifles. The recoil can be reduced dramatically to the point the spread is similar to a smg ar close range. Ads isn’t honestly even that bad you just can’t sprint every where
Also with the inclusion of pro tuning once you’ve maxed the gun out you can somewhat decrease the drawbacks of certain attachments and make them more viable than they would be if you couldn’t tune. So just because you unlocked something now that seems useless compared to another attachment, doesn’t mean it won’t become useful after we figure out how to tune it properly.
little late to the party, but i kinda like how they did it, it all depends on your playstyle and gun, for me i try to stay at range with the enemy and i managed to balance my attachments for certain guns in a way where they become high dps laser rifles, it works for me honestly since at medium to far range, ads time does not really matter all that much
I was just thinking about this with the Lockwood mk2 rifle, besides adding an optic (which the iron sights aren't even that bad anyway), it felt like I could perform just fine with zero attachments. Almost all of the attachments look really heavy on the cons and the pros are rarely something that I even want
I think this is why it's super essential to understand the gunsmith. I love that the time I spend constantly messing with my class actually has more stakes. Now all we need is for Ace to drop the numbers.
It’s unfortunate that understanding the gunsmith just means knowing that most of the attachments aren’t worth using. I can’t help but feel that this system is this way because of warzone. It seems like they’re really struggling in finding a balance between a 6v6 multiplayer game mode and Warzone.
It is weird how red dots and generally lower zoom sights hurts your ads time when it should authentically make obtaining sight picture much better and snappier just like irl. Maybe they should have also went with it differently in how sights affect a gun? It would be a cool spin for sight attachments to like, make a gun ads quicker or slower depending on the type of gun you are using. Maybe ARs and sort of intermediate to full rifle caliber weapons get quicker ADS time when they use a red dot while something like pistols or smgs either don't get the same effect or maybe even have sightly worse ads time. And maybe depending on the gun a red dot may also affect weapon spread and accuracy or something idk. Like you trade off accuracy over range when using RDS on an AR while you get slightly slower ads time for an SMG but a very tight and consistent spread
I've just focused on aiming stability and some recoil control attachments. Sure ads speed and sprint to fire will suffer but if you get caught with your pants down sprinting into a gunfight, the odds are already not in your favor. Just have to know going into buildings will mean you need to play a bit slower and methodical to get better results.
That’s some good testing. I personally like that fact that guns are viable with minimal attachments. I definitely think they could adjust some of these tradeoffs values so you can at least use different attachments.
You can already use as many as you want. Now this is a personal choice instead of a direct lose scenario in the past COD games. In Warzone or Vanguard etc. if you do not play the meta build you are always at a disadvantage. Now bare guns are the most well rounded versions so attachments provide tradeoffs for personal playstyles.
I wish the attachments would show the actual percentage that they will affect each stat, so you’d know how much you would be sacrificing/gaining by adding it.
I feel like the game does an awful job explaining what exactly the attachments do.
Or like even numbers lol I don’t know how bad it affects the gun so I have to look up builds even tho I wanna play it my way

I like the tradeoff of it. Gives newbs a chance against the LVL 200+ chads
To anyone struggling in this game I highly recommend any of the AK family. Kastov or whatever. And iron sights. They fire like lasers and are snappy as hell. These were the first guns I was using where I started noticing more attachments were not ideal
Naked AK has been solid since Cod4
AK74u is a ripping machine..
Yeah ak with nothing and aim down sight is instant headshot city
I think the entire Kastov family in this game are solid picks. Can't go wrong
The lacht 556 is pretty good and is even better with attachments.
The pistol grips with the "pistol fast draw" bonus gives the quick pistol swap thing, so they are cool attachments if using a pistol as a secondary
Definitely an amazing addition, and that ability pairs well with using smaller mags on your primary, as those give a ton of speed-related bonuses for being smaller.
Saved me a couple times
@@BleedingUranium Unfortunately you get fast hands like 8 minutes into the damn game so you get caught in the staged reload animation a lot (especially with the fennec for example). I can actually sometimes cancel the reload but other times I can't. I don't get what I'm doing differently the times that it works though.
@@pricklycats Sure, but that's also just something to keep in mind. Saved reload progress is a fantastic addition and is incredibly helpful; it only hurts when you put yourself in that situation yourself. Switching to your pistol is now finally faster than reloading (or reload cancelling).
@@pricklycats in the beta I did some testing : in short, if you didn't swap the mag, you can reload cancel, if the mag is out you must finish
It should also change from weapon to weapon, so for some weapon there may be a larger "reload cancel window" than others
There is a sweet spot for every gun. trust
@@Jayson_Tatum not the point of the video lol. When you try to go for accuracy, you sacrifice a different part of accuracy.
I like it the way it is. Good to finally have negatives to attachments
this is like in battlefield 4 where some attachment combos made the guns worse which i think a attachment system should have very slight positives and no negatives. seems the same with this game.

You think there will there be a patch coming where it actually shows the weapon stat numbers change when you add an attachment?
@@directorbeau not in an IW game sadly
This is what I have learned. Mix and match and test different attachments per weapon. Some weapons have horrible barrels and it’s better to use a suppressor that acts like a barrel. Some suppressors suck and it’s better to use a barrel. Sometimes grips are horrible but stocks are best and sometimes it’s the opposite. There is no meta of “use this grip fro SMG’s or that barrel for AR’s.”
Each weapon so far is vastly different from my experience. Except battle rifles…. Only one I can use is the TAQ V. The rest of them just plain suck IMO.

I started using guns with 1 or 2 attachments because I saw it primarily affects the ADS speed negatively.
The frankenguns will be back once Sledgehammer releases their COD installment, as always.

@iEternalSyn This entire comment assumes a lot.
it is a very hard system to balance and I appreciate that they are approaching this with some care.
What works well if having a ranged weapon that is all about accuracy and having a 2nd weapon that's all about mobility, use one for close up and moving about the map and the other for sniping
agreed
@@uranium-2382 I'm very curious to see what the S1 patch notes are going to be with buffs and nerfs
It's just a matter of matching your playstyle with your attachments, and another issue is that people are still trying to play this game super fast and twitchy by sprinting around everywhere and that style of movement is already starting at a disadvantage.
iirc as is, it’s a actually a net negative, they don’t cancel out, the cons outweigh the pros. so you end up with worse recoil and ads than you started with
@@Aikano9 Even worse!

Aiming idle stability is important too. The 5.5 zoom scope is actually decent too.
Last night when I maxed out my m4, it let me do tuning to it when I "unlocked" it but after that it's missing from the upgrading screen. So weird
@@chaserevstuning9271 It is because it is disable actually it will return when they will have fix an issue with it :)
I am finding the SPR 208 very hard to use (i had it platinum in mw19) as one shot with the base weapon does nothing :(
I feel that once weapon tuning is back it will help the recce builds that most of us do for the game, only time will tell about it
i really miss weapon tuning, had my perfect m4 build then watched in horror as it got snapped away. would've loved to try it on some other guns
Just made the intervention into a uhh
Idk even know how to describe it but
Let’s say mw2 quickscope compilations could return LOL
@Jeff Tilley It is back with this update they have released but to what degree it will affect weapons we'll have to see once we can get in and check it out. So get ready for your recce builds time to hunt
Can't wait for the gun guide videos to release! I'm about as excited for those as for the launch of MW2 itself.
Gun guide for what? He just told us attachments are making the guns worse.
Normally I’d be excited for gun guides too, but this sucks. I want the game to be great,
I just hope they make attachments viable…
Thanks for this video I've noticed my ads slooooow was wondering why
You've definitely earned a new subscriber here! GREAT VIDEO AND CONTENT 🫡
Yup and less muzzle flash that is the broken attachment rn for sire
@@angelsaucedo9227
Flash hiders are 100% worth it.
It's especially odd with dot / holo sights where sight alignment isn't a thing... they literally exist to make aiming quicker and easier.
Can you make a video about the hybrid 4xscopes and the different types of scope glint?
Eventually, yes but it's lower on the priority list at the moment.

Hey ace, great video, I have a question. What optic is on your Scar towards the end?
That’s crazy that they setup the attachments that way. After making such a big deal about this new receiver unlock and attachment system. Thanks for the info Ace; great video as always!
I noticed this and i thought I was just crazy. Allot of the positives on attatchments dont outway the negatives and so i found as i would level up a gun and add more things the gun would become worse no matter what combination i used. I noticed this specificly on the lachman 556 which shredded with nothing but with attatchments it felt terrible.
Only attachments I use are front & rear grips with a laser, makes it snappy and doesn’t seem to much of a bad trade off
I was thinking the same as I was playing. But I was so used to feeling the need to fill all slots that I thought I must be crazy. Thanks for the video. There is always going to be some kind of draw back to "upgrades". Do keep in mind that the tuning feature for the mods has been disabled which may make the difference. I do find it extremely odd that add any kind of sight causes zoom speed to lower when a red dot never slows down your transition IRL but whatever lol

Most of the times it's actually faster IRL, cleaner sight pictures makes target acquisition faster.
I personally do like the idea that not using attachment always is also an option compared to the META spam in vanguard and warzone lately
However, they can perhaps reduce the tradeoffs slightly like instead of hurting the aiming stability by 5%, it now hurts by 3% and so on
Completely agree with this. And ultimately leads to more diverse builds and capabilities. We should have to think about trade offs. In the past the pros have largely been way better than the cons. Currently just needs a better balance. Hopefully they don’t over rotate on it. And we meet in the middle somewhere
If they do that you'll be back to the cookie cutter builds >

If those attachments take to big of a toll on my weapons recoil and cause to much sway, I usually go and try to find an under barrel attachment the provides the decrease in recoil and sway while not tanking my ads and/or sprint to fire.
you can use weapon tuning to revert some of the negative ads speed or other negative effect that you can't deal with too.
I'm really liking the laser attachment that helps with ads speed and aiming stability only downside is you can see the laser it's pretty much a tac laser from mw19
Every time I add one thing
-ADS sprint time
-Aim down sight time.
Always Something to do with aim. Shit is annoying
The only ones i've been using were all types of Damage ranges ones while trying to keep a decent ADS time, but i might remove them because i haven't really noticed any TTK differences with them on.
just get better
A lot of the damage ranges seem super short in this game so if you get 10% increase to an already small number it wouldn't make much difference probably

Definitely have to agree that one or 2 attachments is often the right move. Was able to get to level 55 pretty early so I've been grinding cammos and found that I really only use optics, mag attachments, and suppressors. The rest kill your movement so if you have even decent recoil control you should dominate most lobbies...
I agree with this exactly. Mags, sights, and suppressors. Maybe one of the really weak grips that only has a single positive like +Recoil something, but those barely affect it.
i’ve been just using the first laser that helps ADS and isn’t negative at all a sight and sometimes a grip for recoil for certain guns
my muzzle attachment is the FTAC Castle Comp for basically all weapons that allow it to be put on. IDK why but the gun feels a lot better with that attachment. There's also a variant of it with the exact same stats but i forgot the name.
I think in beta, most of the attachments did make more difference to the gun feel and were worth putting them on.
Yeah I did not feel like they were hurting in the beta but I am definitely feeling too many negatives now...
It was the same in beta......
Adding the barrel grip to the LMG slowed down ADS sooo much. I don't get it though, IRL that wouldn't be the case.. if anything it'd be the opposite.
@@nathjones2011 Battlerifles and Marksman rifles already feel bad at long range imo, you need to hit 3 or 4 shots to get a kill but you have only 10 or 20 rounds and a lot of recoil, it is easier to just hit 6 shots with an M4. Ironically I actually think they feel better at close(ish) range where the recoil doesn't take you right off target and you can get a 2 shot kill or a single headshot kill.
this was very informative thank you, probably promotes strategy by making you know which way your gun is stacked.
tbf with overkill being a very eats perk to run, it might be a good idea to run a very stable long-distance rifle with no recoil and a run-and-gun SMG that'll help you push to the positions you want to set up in.
Ace I just wanna say I love your videos and thanks to you it’s made me a better cod player. I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me and the community. More than you know.
Tuning and learning how to optimize a lot of the "have big drawback" attachments fixes that whole "attachments with any cons feel awful"
The suppressor that helps with recoil smoothness is my favorite. Doesn't seem to drastically improve the recoil but it's better than the other suppressors because it only hurts damage range slightly. But again not noticeable.
Recoil smoothness is a fake stat and does nothing. Watch aces last video.
@@voltdripz2938 No, it does. It just “smooths out” the big jumps in recoil and makes them more uniform. However, it does not affect the overall recoil.
Recoil smoothness doesn't do anything but that suppressor (from the ak) has a bonus to recoil control which is helpful.
I actually like filling out the attachments on the shotguns in this game. I focused heavy on movement speed and ADS speed for quick sprinting one pumps, and then grabbed one attachement to reduce pellet spread so I could still have some sort of hip fire accuracy. It feels really strong
Which shotgun(s) do you use? I always find hip fire to be useless on the shotguns past a few meters

I have a feeling between the lack of attachment overall positives and weapon tuning they're trying to fight off super meta builds.
It's just going to result in every attachement being useless and just drives the meta to what gun is the best instead of attachments
Always put attachments on guns like that you don’t need recoil control with 1 shot gun max ads and sprint out???
@@THEKING-ix6rw yeah but that kills idle sway and I still need to shoot people at range
I think this is why it's super essential to understand the gunsmith. I love that the time I spend constantly messing with my class actually has more stakes. Now all we need is for Ace to drop the numbers.
Agreed, and yeah we def need numbers asap 👌🏽
Flash hiders and suppressors are so nice to hide the muzzle flash. Super underrated benefit.
That’s some good testing. I personally like that fact that guns are viable with minimal attachments. I definitely think they could adjust some of these tradeoffs values so you can at least use different attachments.
Wouldnt that defeat the purpose of having 100+ attachments?
You can already use as many as you want. Now this is a personal choice instead of a direct lose scenario in the past COD games. In Warzone or Vanguard etc. if you do not play the meta build you are always at a disadvantage. Now bare guns are the most well rounded versions so attachments provide tradeoffs for personal playstyles.
But then it’s like why bother caring about weapon levels if I only want 2 attachments out of the 300 they have lol
All I use is the laser that takes up the optical slot, different ammo, and rear grip. Depending on the weapon a different stock can help
1:53 we’ve all done it lmao
