  • Yossi Sheriff, www.akban.org/about/sheriff.php, the AKBAN academy founder, explains, through four techniques, the general tactics of grappling with the kusari fundo, the Japanese short chain.
    Using strikes, levers and the chain we create entrance points for effective and low violence techniques that circumvent the problems of short chain in close range combat.
    The Kusari fundo or Manriki gusari (manrikigusari) is a weapon that suffers a serious drawbacks in close range, and these techniques open a window to the AKBAn way of fughting with the Kusari, short Ninjutsu chain

    This is my favorite video. I find that a rope, or a belt can be even better than a chain (not just for training, but for real use) , since its not perceived as a weapon, and when it hits me (and it will), it doesn't hurt like the chain does.

Do you recommend practicing with a chain first or using a belt/rope then move into using a chain? Any answers would be appreciated. • @AkbanOrg
      @AkbanOrg  8 лет назад +1

      +Geka GK That depends on the time length of the choke. After more than a few seconds, the brain damage is irreversible.

    • @gekagk8408
      @gekagk8408 8 лет назад

      I see. So just for 3 4 seconds like Sensei tells in the video. Will the opponent be okay if we just leave them on the ground ? would some light slaps on the face will make them regain their conciousness again ?

      If there's an accident during practice and someone loses consciousness for a second or two they should wake up quick and be a little confused, if this state persists then get a medical professional.

    • @crazylegs5063
      @crazylegs5063 9 лет назад

      I dont see why just experimentation will get you there. Although it helps to be a martial artist in general so you understand how the body works, in a combat situation. This will help you develop techniques nearly identical to these.

    • @AkbanOrg

    • @ishe728
      @ishe728 4 года назад +1

      I think some may but a nunchaku is a striking weapon first you should use it as it is designed for.
      Now if you messed up and got tackled then, you can use some of these to help you like for breaks around the neck, larger joints

    • @ishe728
      @ishe728 4 года назад +1

      I know it's years later but they are both similar, aikido is softer meant to redirect the threat.
      In ninjutsu you are eliminating the threat, in these techniques breaking joints and arms then finish with deadly strike.

      I don’t like bungee cords because they are too stretchy. I like extension cords, often with the female side cut off and the male side stripped down to expose some wire. The plastic of the extension cord sticks to the skin.
