    Had this similar engine as type ra in my subaru for 5 years and 90K miles at 27 psi of boost on fp green turbro drinking e85 all the time. That engine lived the best days during those years, autocross events, regular weekly Dragon runs. Zero issues. 30 launches. Endless flat foot shifts. Still sold the car with good oil pressure. Not sure how other owners blow up their EJs while daily driving or during first track event. Had extremely happy ownership of Subaru STI in the past.

      Same, I've done multiple events for 2 years straight now, just recently did a track day and autocross event for the start of year 3, and still drive it every now and then as a family car. It's been super reliable so far.

    I’m going to buy this car in the next couple of year, just to drive it to keep the motor lubed 😂😂😂. Sold my 2018 sti a few years ago, man I miss it. So s209 is what I’ll be looking to get back. And having another daily so I don’t rack to much on the s209. In your handbook. It’ll tell you every 5k miles to do oil change. With the turbo and how much power this car produces. Your oil will be gone by 3k miles. Change your oil at 3k, you won’t have any issues.

    Good to know about the oil filters.

      It's definitely an overlooked component that can help with oil pressure or oil flow depending on if you're driving on track or street

    Great video & I had a '19 & 21' STI. Never had a issue with them always changed oil every 3k miles. Now I got a Lexus IS500 the V8 is smooth as silk.

    Those mirror covers look amazing! I think you should look into getting on the Cobb nexgen flex fuel setup. I love the s209 & i really feel you’re right about the power and balance that STi put into making this. The extra bump in power & reliability when you switch over to ethanol really makes a difference! Can’t wait to see what’s next with this

    A great video. I own a 2020 stock STI and I'm going to keep it stock. 55K right now. I have no desire to go to the track with my Bluebaru. The STI is a great car. In my opinion it needs no power mods.

      Lol me too. 2020 with 45k KMS on the clock. Only stock, with some aesthetic (all OEM) mods. I also service it every 5k KMS even though the dealer/ manufacturer recommended service is every 10K kms.

    to determine the need for an AOS is to peek into your intercooler after a track day.

    DONT DO CASTROL SRF. I just wished out of that fluid because I was getting boil over and brakes were inconsistent on the track after years of using it and doing research I heard they changed our compound and the Lamborghini super tropho team stopped using it.. I switched to Endless 650 fluid in my race car..going to try that out as I’ve heard nothing but great things

    Just saw this vid. Thanks for the update (asked a question in your earlier “tune” vlog. Im planning a stage 1+ redline, cobb aos, cyl 4 cooling and cobb ebcs. Not looking for 400whp, just a tune dialed into my specific mods for reliability and environmental factors. Id like to pull it out in 20 yrs running smooth!
    Things of note:
    - You mentioned not going AOS for your set up. I spoke to a great tuner and he said while he never tells anyone not to go AOS, or cylinder 4 since they provide value AOS is hands down one of the best mods to do if you had to pick 👍🏾
    Nice ride man!

      I highly suggest you watch all of flatironstuning videos on aos. Then you can make a more educated choice as to whether it's something you need. From watching those videos, my perspective on AOS has changed- it should only be purchased by a select few who just need a bandaid for their blowby issues that they're experiencing. But if you have no blowby, or minimal oil making it's way into the intake tract to begin with, then you don't need an aos.

    S209 it’s a BEST ! I own #47/209
    My wife calls it a dust collector, it’s only have 16K miles , don’t drive it at all . If you think about it, it’s a collectors item, STI will NO longer be made, the S209its it.

    Question. Should I get an AOS fitted or no need? My car is pure stock (2020), regularly maintained and well taken care of in general. But every STI owner is suggesting I get one.

    My thoughts on reliability of a subie, invest in dry sump system!! Porsche had same issues with 911 , thats y they are dry sump

    • @TheLastS209
      @TheLastS209  11 месяцев назад +1

      Dry sump systems are very complex, but it is definitely the best way to solve the oil starvation issues that one can experience on track

    We all know these engines consume oil. Have you always run the same weight oil or brand? If you have, have you noticed any difference in the amount of oil consumed between OCIs when using different oils?

    • @TheLastS209
      @TheLastS209  11 месяцев назад

      I've always run motul 5w40 xcess on street so I can't compare with other brands. I also can't compare it to motul 300V because the interval change is not comparable between the two. Personally, I think these are two of the best options out there for street and track use, respectively.
