Don't let the final scoreline fool you. Haiti came to PLAY. Unfortunately for them, their direct corner kick goal (an Olympico, I believe) was incorrectly called offside (no VAR in qualifying, and it would have been their first goal ever scored against US). They held their own for over an hour with the World Champs. Haiti has shown a LOT of improvement since we defeated them by a combined 13-0 in back-to-back friendlies in 2015. They were doing their best to keep the goal difference low; It may be the difference between 2nd or 3rd place in this group. The US really stepped up and never let it get to them and kept attacking 'til the final whistle.
It was NOT called offside. The commentators guessed that but at halftime it was announced that there was "GK interference" and that's why the goal was not counted. Either way, it was a BAD call and even as an American fan it's embarassing that such awful officiating is taking place in such a big tournament
Rachel Kessinger - You say it was announced at halftime “that there was GK interference” (I presume you mean that the Haiti attacker (no. 11, Éloissaint) was called for interfering with keeper Naeher). I heard the announcers •speculating• that that might have been the call (probably because calling offside on a corner kick would be such an outrageously horrible officiating error), but I didn’t hear them say that was an •official• announcement from the officiating crew, or CONCACAF. Can you point to any source that authoritatively verifies that interference was actually the call? To be clear, I agree that if it •was• an offside call, that was an almost incomprehensibly amateurish officiating error. Under Law of the Game 11, governing offside, section 3 explicitly provides that, “There is no offside offence if a player receives the ball directly from a corner kick.” Essentially, there’s NO offside call on a corner kick. The video shows the assistant referee looking down the goal line for the corner kick, where she could see that Éloissaint was closer to the line than any U.S. defender except Naeher - which, again, was perfectly fine under the laws. Then, immediately after the apparent goal, she raises her flag in what appears to be the signal for offside. It seems impossible that any qualified official, let alone one in such an important tournament, would be unaware that a player cannot be offside on a corner kick, or would somehow forget that law in the heat of the moment. And it seems incomprehensible that a referee would accept that call by an assistant. But everything we see here seems to confirm exactly that conclusion.

You are at pains to point out that a matter I had noted in passing, the position of the attacking players to the defending players, is “irrelevant” on a corner kick - and it is, with respect to an offside call, which Law 17, section 3, simply states may not be made on a ball received from a corner kick. This match should raise serious concerns for CONCACAF, about the quality of officiating at these official tournaments. For most of the run of play the officiating was adequate, but the moments when it was incomprehensibly bad overshadow everything else. Haiti’s disallowed corner kick goal has already been discussed extensively in these comments. There has been an assertion that the call was interference with the keeper, but I’ve seen no authoritative confirmation of that in a game report by the referee, or a statement from CONCACAF. (And it appears Haiti’s no. 11, Éloissaint, scarcely came near keeper Naeher, let alone touched her.) But if it was an offside call that scotched Haiti’s goal, that’s an abysmal officiating error. Whatever the answer is, it’s a shame; that should have been a great moment in the Haiti women’s program’s history - its first goal against the U.S., and drawing level with the the world champion. It wouldn’t have changed the result; the U.S.’s superior talent, depth, and conditioning were always going to tell over the course of 90 minutes. But Haiti was robbed of a wonderful moment.
I quit watching shortly after the Haiti goal that was called a non-goal. My daughter's U-9 through U-15 teams haven't had that level of referee incompetence. I would understand it at a rec level, but at an international level, particularly a qualifier, this call was incredibly bad. While VAR would have fixed this, the real fix is better referee training. They say it was "goal keeper interference" which it obviously was not, but the linesman mechanics indicate "offside" and by law offside is not an infraction on a corner, and even of it was, the player in front of the goal that got the slight touch into the goal was behind the ball when it was struck at the start of the corner kick. This was an absolute officiating failure.
Also, immediately after the call, the referee signaled for an IFK, which would be the restart for an offside call, but not for some foul on the goalkeeper.

how on the face of the earth was that goal offside, the ball is being played backwards into play so effectively the person taking the corner would be offside to. that goal would of also been prevented if there was someone on the front post, that’s just simple goalkeeping.
I don't know if Haiti really interfere with Alyssa Naeher. She's taller than anyone near the goal. lol US WNT seems confident only in the first half they need to regroup on the forward line. Press and Williams and Tobin (get well) should be out front.
A serious question here. If Haiti’s goal from their corner was disallowed because of goalkeeper interference, how was the 2nd American goal allowed, when the ball was unplayable for the keeper?
I wonder if the third goal (73') should have been recorded as an own goal by Haiti’s Kethna Louis (no. 20), instead of a goal by Horan. It looks like keeper Kerly Theus’s parry of Horan’s header was headed wide of the post, when it struck Louis’s arm (as •she• darted back to cover the line), and deflected back into the goal.
Whomever was involved in calling the corner kick offside should be banned from ever officiating again. If FIFA doesn't give that goal to Haiti, it calls into question the game of soccer as being fair. As a fan of the USWNT, I am disgusted by what happened to Haiti...

It wouldn’t have changed the result; the U.S.’s superior talent, depth, and conditioning were always going to tell over the course of 90 minutes. But Haiti was robbed of a wonderful moment.
ColumbiaB nobody’s gonna read your comment
Avery Hoog - Well, you may consider yourself “nobody”, but the 53 people (so far) who have “liked” it are each most certainly somebody!
@@ColumbiaB it's a good comment 👍 the result should have been 4 - 1
haiti's keeper had some hella good saves tho
🤦🏾♂️🤣🤣

Seeing number 13 without Morgan on the back just doesn’t feel the same

She had some remarkable assists there.

Haiti was robbed of a goal at 1:15 (17:44 on the game clock) there is no offsides on a corner kick until the ball is played out by someone.
@@toddrf Yep
Oh God they're just awesome dickshit
Well said!👍
What an embarassing call against that Haitie goal. A bunch refs that don't even know the rules of the game, ridiculous.
JJ truly is something special. not looking forward to the national team without her.
Haiti goal must count, there’s no offside on corner kicks
When will the US coaches understand they need Krieger on the defense??
it's not just Kreiger on the defence, they needed to have Pineo out there with Christen when Tobin can't be because as amazing as Christen is with corner kicks, she's a striker and needed to be in the middle to execute plays not just set them up IMO
@@TiffanyLAWard Carli shouldn't be playing the 9. That's not her best position AT ALL. Lynn is also not a winger. As long as Tobin is injured, the front line should be pinoe-lynn-press
@@rachelkessinger2295 Lynn is now getting her footing again on the National Team if that should be the case they need to have her practice set plays that way she wouldn't be off the line for reading a particular play she needs to learn when to uses her speed and when to slow down and she will be good Carli is also a striker and she has played up top pretty well before the game against Haiti, it's all about being able to read your teammate even when you're a team that switched up their play from your last meetup
@@TiffanyLAWard I don't know what crack you're smoking but Carli is awful at the 9 lol She doesn't time her runs well from the position AT ALL and she's also lost accuracy on her shots and passes. I think she could still be very useful as a super sub playing 30ish minutes a game at the 10 where she's best at!
Dude I’m cheering for the us team. But that goal was not offsides. The girl did not touch it.
Ellie Zabrocki Even if she did touch it it’s still not offsides. There’s no offsides on corner kicks.
my best, my favorite and my world team USWNT l love you
As big of a Favorite the US was against Haiti, I have to say that the refs robbed Haiti. The goal was Clearly a good goal, but Hey, it's Haiti. That would have been a Huge confidence for them being leveled with those Supergiants. Who knows what would had happened after that. If these Haitian ladies stay together, I think they will make some noise someday.
I am not going to watch the rest of the video after witnessing this historic first. The match should have stopped right then. Offside by a corner kick. I was shocked. Not even for the lulz. Did the assistant ref saw her inside the goal line or outside the end line and in front of the ball when the corner was kicked? how can u b offside on corners
I'm missing 🙁Alex Morgan & Mallory Pugh..from Indian 🤗
Alex is knocked up, and Mallory unjustly left out.
@@sld1776 I know Alex condition ..do you know that? When Mallory Pugh is comeback ..because she is my favorite prayer us team
I miss Morgan Brian too!
how on the face of the earth was that goal offside, the ball is being played backwards into play so effectively the person taking the corner would be offside to. that goal would of also been prevented if there was someone on the front post, that’s just simple goalkeeping.
Carli Lloyd's goal is an absolute beauty. Vintage CL10.
I don't know if Haiti really interfere with Alyssa Naeher. She's taller than anyone near the goal. lol
US WNT seems confident only in the first half they need to regroup on the forward line. Press and Williams and Tobin (get well) should be out front.
Christine Press is my everything ❤️❤️
Just a hint, if she's your everything you need to spell her name correctly 😎
Off-sides? On a corner? WTH??
That corner kick was definitely a GOAL. poorly ref
A serious question here.
If Haiti’s goal from their corner was disallowed because of goalkeeper interference, how was the 2nd American goal allowed, when the ball was unplayable for the keeper?
it wasn't because of interference. it was because of lack of knowledge by the referees since they called offside on a corner kick.
Great game for both teams but who else is missing mal pugh😭 it is sad she didn't make the cut I am definitely going to miss her
I wonder if the third goal (73') should have been recorded as an own goal by Haiti’s Kethna Louis (no. 20), instead of a goal by Horan. It looks like keeper Kerly Theus’s parry of Horan’s header was headed wide of the post, when it struck Louis’s arm (as •she• darted back to cover the line), and deflected back into the goal.
It was going in. It was the right call.
Own goal and a handball to boot. That's about as bad a single play as you can get!
sld1776 - It was not going in after the keeper’s party; the replay clearly shows it was headed wide of the post.
Whomever was involved in calling the corner kick offside should be banned from ever officiating again. If FIFA doesn't give that goal to Haiti, it calls into question the game of soccer as being fair.
As a fan of the USWNT, I am disgusted by what happened to Haiti...
wait, the jersey numbers can be re issued when that player isn't there?
That...was...a...goal. Period. Indecision by Naeher yet again.
I thought my Sunday league refs were bad. Wow! An offside call on a corner kick?!!?
They also called it offsides even though she didn’t touch it or obstruct the play , she still had the opportunity to touch the ball, only called offsides cause she was in the way the ball was and could’ve made a play- sorry if that make sense I’m 13
So ready to watch you guys play tonight!!!
According to rule 11 of soccer, there is no offside offence if a player receives the ball directly from a goal kick, a CORNER kick, or a throw -in. So I'm not sure what was the flag for??
That corner kick offsides call is absolutely jaw dropping. How does someone refereeing a game at this level get that wrong?
Great game, great passes 👏🤩
Conor kick can be offside too.. 🤔🤔
Hmm interesting 🧐
why in these Concacaf tournaments, Haiti is always an injustices's victim : man or woman - and why also there cannot be video assistance: VAR, cause I don't understand why the Haiti goal was denied and I believe 1 - 1 it would be an other match- the referee decision on the Haiti goal it's outrageous ,a shame. Even the referee is white or black as long as it's about Haiti, the refereeing is unbalanced and disgraceful
@Boxing Bro Don't lie but Haiti really fought a good fight , their oldest player is 22 everyone else is 21 or under, even Costa Rica couldn't stop the US from scoring six goals, it's no argument, that at such a young age, the Haitians has some talent.
Carli Lloyd is not a striker they should christen press in the striker position
Carli is a striker, she's just still in the developmental phase. She was born as a midfielder, but has recently just encountered a position change. Give her time, and don't count her out. Once at full 100% confident, in connection and rhythm, she's deadly.
@@tyliyahthomas She don't got time though, she's getting older. Although the amount of running strikers do could keep her around longer.
Can you please upload full match..👍

Thanks for uploaded please upload the us vs Panama yesterday.
And they still want equal pay smh the tempo of the game is so slow and boring
How do you get offside in a corner kick? BS
Good job Haiti. In reality most of north and South America, besides brazil, have really underdeveloped women’s football compared to the u.s

Good job Houston.....way to get 50 people to show up to watch the National Team..
I miss Alex Morgan, will he play again?
Press and Broon.were the only ones that showed up to play this game. It was like watching them at Utah all over again. Two great players with a midfield that isn’t connecting and a front line that can’t put obvious opportunities away. Nightmare. The NT team is supposed to be my break from that messy chaos. Hope the team settles down and starts connecting next game. The January first game is always awful.
ALL PLAYERS, PLAYED STAMINA FULL, POWERFUL, ATTRACTIVE AND NICE GAME, BUT NO 10 , 13 , 20. IS WONDERFUL.............
WINNERS IS WINER...........
The only offside I see is that assistant referee.. Shouldn't be on the pitch..
Carli Lloyd would make the midfield much better if they put her in the position she’s better at
amazing team
there is no offsides on corner kicks. If fers call it offsides, then they do not know how to be a ref
Why was that goal called off side?
1:39 but there’s no offside on corners
Money talk anywhere..

How do they call offside on a corner kick? They have to check these refs.
That wasn't off side.
Julie Ertz is SUPERB!🌟👍👏
Concacaf: "Hmmm. Where could we hold the qualifiers so that the fewest tickets will be sold and game attendance will be absolutely, embarrassingly low?" US Soccer: "Houston. Easily the worst soccer market in the US. Dynamo has played for years in that sea of empty orange seats called "BBVA Compass Stadium." Concacaf: 'Great. Where do we sign?"
Ron Tiemens the fans would find a way to turn up if they were properly invested and involved with the team. A Liverpool pre season friendly in Australia back in 2014 sold 75,000 tickets! That was a friendly, this is a work cup qualifier and yet the women still couldn’t sell out that tiny stadium.

Good win USA..👍👍
Nice game
Usa women's soccer is honestly the only women's profession sport I seek to watch often and enjoy. Take it as you want. I just find the rest really dull. I don't even enjoy the MLB till its the playoffs finals... or golf ever! but watching the usa women dominate is very cool and impressive. You watch sports to be impressed and entertained. At least I do most of the time. To root ur team on to win sure. But Not to pay tribute to or pity respect like your nieces 7th grade vball or aau for ur nephew or whatever. Hope my view is coming across clearly. If you enjoy watching professional bowling, go for it. More power too you. But most people watch what is best if they have a variety of great sports to choose from. Usa women's soccer is so much better than most others and hope the can keep it going in japan. Beach vball is cool too at times the 2 on 2 guys and ladies.
Good job carli
