I use two of the types shown here, a spinal glide bicycle style seat, and for me, the go-to Roc-n-Soc again bicycle style seat with back rest, both used for practice pad and drum set. Thank you for another great video.
I Recently upgraded my drums and got a COB Krupa sound king (and COW 70s slingerland kit) and loved your review on that snare and got the throw working better with your tips. 🙌Im looking into a comfy throne and the pork pie has my eye as. Perhaps yoive convinced me with your rave review. Cheers and thank you for the content!
Hi Rick, this was interesting. I play the pork pie throne but I also really like DW Airlift thrones. Funny to hear you say you’re getting old. I hear you. I just turned 63 and I’m starting to feel it.
The first one is definitely not my kind, too middle-age :) That would be great if you could do a video about the proper stance and position on a throne to play comfortable, easily and safely. It's not always that simple to find the right height and distance to the snare and bass drum. Some prefer toms laying flat and low, some like them high and slanted. That's an interesting topic and I'm curious about your insight about all that. Thanks Rick!
I love all of these thrones except I agree that the Ahead spinal tap throne felt a little weird and unstable. The new Tama ergo rider might be the GOAT with comfort plus it has a foldable backrest. I have the pork pie throne as well and I think the Tama hybrid saddle design with the ergo rider just barely surpasses it.
I have a Pork Pie throne but for me they are a bit to soft. My legs are getting tired after a while and having a hard time to find the prefect balance. (But that could be me) I love to try a Roc N Soc.
ive been thinking the glide would b the best to have or the other brand w a wider gap but since u say pork pie is ur fav maybe i should change my opinion.
For $10 more than the RocNSoc Nitro (which is awesome) Ahead has a spinal split throne with a scooped out seat (SPGBL and SPBGS) and bicycle shape -- more comfortable than the regular, firmer split seat. But they use a 4-legged base which I'm not as crazy about. But for $65 more you can get it with a backrest: amazing! (Or buy backrest separately later for $85). I dislike the Pork Pie marketing: it's not Made In America but "Made by an American" ... and they're made in Taiwan. Says so right on the box.

Unless they drastically changed something with their thrones in the last 10 years, you won't regret picking up the pork pie.
I never use it but I still have an old Ludwig throne with the oblong seat, from around 1976.
Thanks a lot. It's so incredible have such a teacher

I Still have my 1960's Blue pearl Premier kit but not the stool as we called them here in the UK, it fell apart after 30yrs of use so had to go.
Being a big big guy, my favorute are heavy duty canister thrones.

A fabric strap fold up and out aluminum throne design is needed.
Do you have a video about ergonomy on the kit?
Yes, ruclips.net/video/Nqq9-dzrYLg/видео.html
