  • Wednesday evening, a Caruthers Elementary School student named Amanda called the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office to report that her 5th grade friend, 11 year old Eyleen Biterbo, was feeling depressed due to some bullying at school. Deputies went to Eyleen’s home to check on her. They spoke for a while about why she was not feeling well. The interaction really tugged at the hearts of Deputies Hugo Martinez, Monty Vito and Joseph Adolph. They later came up with a plan of how to lift her spirits. Together they pooled some of their money together and went clothes shopping for Eyleen. On Thursday, they visited the school and gave her gifts which included pants, shoes and sweatshirts. For being a great, concerned friend, the deputies gave Amanda a Starbucks gift card.
The deputies also learned that Eyleen always had a birthday wish to take a photo in a patrol car. Deputies allowed her to sit in the driver seat and activate the lights and siren.
