Thanks for the video, and the posts from the repair manual (is this a Haynes?) - this is incredibly helpful, so thank you for taking the time to make it understandable. Our 2015 only has 40,000 miles on it, so figure it has another 10 years but a few things are starting to go - control arm bushings are getting dry and cracked, not a lot of wobble yet, but the garage wanted $1100 bucks to replace two of them, and I got the pair from Rock Auto for ~$200 bucks. A few hours in the garage and done. Thanks again!
Thanks for the video! My 2015 just started making this noise and wanted to confirm that it was the bushings. I won't be changing them myself but now I at least know what to ask for.
Great video! Dealing with the exact symptoms on my 2015 Foresstor. After rebalancing and rotating tires twice in past 6 months, I replaced rotors which made braking smooter, but did not fix the wobble at 60-70mph. Next I suspected the CV joint, and I just noticed the lower bushing looked worn. I also noticed the drain tube for AC condensation is positioned right over the control arm on the passenger side - WTF Subaru!? I believe this is causing the bushing failure,. After watching your video, I'm 99% certain it's that bushing in the lower control arm and I will always attempt DIY before paying obscene amounts to a "professional". Local mechanics are charging $900 for this job, so I greatly appreciate your diagnoses and HOW TO video. Hopefully, I will realize the same success as you did. THANKS!
Super helpful video. U helped me diagnose and fix my death wobble. Took it to a couple mechanics and they were scratching their head at what it could be. They kept saying either the tires were out of balance or the alignment. I ended up changing both the front drivers and passenger side lower control arms and it fixed the death wobble and feels tons tighter and handles so much better. My Forester XT had about 90k miles. I’m glad I changed them both out bc both sides had cracks and tears in them but the drivers side was the worst. Cheers!
I was having a bad wobble while hitting 60mph just going straight. Got a set of new tires and alignnment, most of the wobble went away, except for driving downhill at 60mph+ and turning left only... This video def is going to help me deal with the passenger control arm now. I inspected mine and can definitely feel the play with the car jacked up, it's bad!

I had a really hard time getting the new ball joint into place. Used a rotary tool and sanded away any old rust/debris from the knuckle so the joint could finally get tapped in w/ a mallet. After that, smooth sailing.

The EXACT same bushing just went out on the control arm on my 2014..Replacing it in a few days. I'm at 136,000 miles though.
