Most enjoyable boat tour i have seen. Great couple and boat. Thank you! Thanks to your Amel boat tours now Amel is on my top list for ocean cruiser. Thank you again!
I don't sail but I watch a lot of sailing channels on RUclips and to me the Amel Super Maramu is the best looking sailboat I have seen. And I assume its pretty fast with all the sails. Plus I like the center cockpit. So if I were going to buy a cruising sailboat, that's what it would be.
So many similarities with the beautiful Delos on one hand and not so much on the other. Absolutely beautiful boat. Thanks for the in-depth tour; a good reason to be proud.👌
JP is 21 again tomorrow! O, me too...... If you know JP and Julie, sometimes you wonder if they aren't teenagers! Yeah, I loved the full washer/dryer as well.
I loved every second of your presentation!!! Sir you should be (and I know you are) ... proud owner of that "BEAUTY"......best of luck to you guys....!! Please do not cry too much after selling your "daughter"....
What a great walkthrough. So detailed. I am saving this video. So many great tips and a wealth of improvements of an already great yacht. Would it be possible to find out more details on the cost of the refit and all the yards / suppliers that did were involved ?
Yes, JP loves Eleuthera, and has put a lot of upgrades into her. I heard much of the work was completed in Turkey, but JP was not happy with the job and has had to redo much of the work. But, she looks great now!
Very welcome Stephen! Not sure if/when Eleuthra will be for sale. She is currently in New Zealand, and next year sailing to Thailand. I think Eleuthra will continue with JP and Julie at the helm around the world. Fair Winds
Not sure I would do the NW Passage in anything less than 400 foot, but I haven't really done any research on NW Passage. I am sure some people would say No Problem, but others would say you need a Aluminum or Steel boat for this type of passage.
Most impressing is the bond between couples we witness so frequently in your videos - no toilet door or climb over each other at night means something. A life like a student again, all belongings are close - the sound of the fridge, the washing machine. Just as it once was. I find it consoling, that a pile of bucks can bring me back to the cosy close life with my girl. But of course you only show us the not yet divorced cases, right? ;-)
It's just a life. Not perfect, not beautified or otherwise. It would be naive to believe that bigger house will bring marital happiness. Maybe that's what ads try to convince, but not the reality. We don't try to play or pretend what we are not so what you see it as is. You are welcome to make your own opinion
Thanks to Julie for letting us see HER boat and for allowing JP to lead the tour. 😉 I didn't see the water proof bulkhead doors, were they just hidden or not on the early models? The AMEL'S are definitely a beautiful boat. Thank you for this episode.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
When you make a passage you want nothing on the foredeck. You should deflate it and store it but if you want it on a deck put it under the ,mizzen boom.
Aquarius is heavy aft, so I like to put everything up front for long passages. For short passages close to shore we usually tow the dinghy, for better visibility. I have seen many Amels with the dinghy on the back for passages, and maybe I'll try it on next passage. Just have to see if the mizzen traveler will be affected by the dinghy on the rear deck. Also, I like staying mid-ship when changing the position of the mizzen traveller. And, sometimes on a nice evening we lay on the back deck and look up at the stars when sailing on calm night. This would be impossible with the dinghy on the back. W'lll just have to see.... Best, Ken
Ken, Amel often say in promotional material, that the lazarette can store dinghies. Obviously they mean deflated? What’s your thought on storing it in the lazarette. What about storing it on davits, with the outboard in the lazarette?
Actually the bow thruster is a very good one, and will last if taken care of properly. Good design, and robust. Easy to fix and maintain if you know what you're doing. If not, you can mess it up like I did. Then come back to fix it. Cost..... To carry spares to basically rebuild your bow thruster is about $1000USD. That would be rebuilding everything that goes into the water. And, you can do it yourself where ever you are. Try that with another brand.
Ok Mr. Ken. You sold me. Amel makes a great boat. Can you fund me a couple of green backs so I can get one. Love the Amel yachts. I truly like your vlogs. Please keep them coming.
Thanks Ken for another great tour of a superb looking Super Maramu - especially one focused at those of us who are looking at buying into your elite little club. JP has done a great job bringing Eleuthera into the 21st century and I quite like some of the additions he's done (the white countertops, ceiling lining and cushions really make a huge difference) - especially bringing the control panels along side the water maker controls. I've been keeping a list of potential upgrades that I will make to mine when I get it (including many that you and JP highlighted on your respective tours) when I get it and have a few new suggestions for both of you: 1) Do the same thing with the mizzen traveler as you both have with the main traveller (I.e. make it controlled by an Anderson winch IN THE COCKPIT) so that you don't have to go out of the cockpit to move the mizzen traveller. The traveller lines are extended and made into a double loop brought to the port rear corner of the cockpit (on the coach top, and the Anderson winch is installed there). I've seen Bill K's boat with this and it is a really great addition that makes so much sense that you wonder why Henri didn't think of it. Hanging out on the stern in big following waves can be a bit intimidating - even on the ample stern of a Super Maramu). 2) Get a custom made swim platform with integrated ladder that flips up on to the bottom step/rear bumper somewhat like the Amel 54's have to make getting into the boat possible without having to drop the boarding ladder. S/Y Kerpa has one and it looks like a brilliant solution - especially if your stern bumper is getting a bit ratty. I'm sure you could get one made in Asia for peanuts. It was great to see JP and Julie after seeing him comment so much on the forum.
Hi Steve, 1) I am not sure I would do this right away. Yes, there are times when it would be nice, but going out to set the traveller is not a big deal and you really don't do it that often. 2) I will probably get the back bumper redone in Thailand, so it will look nice again. But, you may want to rethink the swim ladder on the back. I was going to get one installed when I first bought Aquarius, but changed my mind, and glad I did. I don't have a ladder on the back, and both Z and I can get into the boat without a ladder. There is a swim ladder on starboard side you can put down if required. Almost every time I think Henri Amel did something stupid, I later figure out why I'm actually the stupid one.... Ken
Yes, I could have misspelled it somewhere in the video..... And, maybe I spelled it correctly in other places by accident. But, Thanks for the message! :) Happy sailing!

Brilliant tour, Thanks JP for being so generous. And the upgrades speak for them self's. Once again an Amel Yacht ocean going for the long run
Nice walk thru of a refit. Looked liked a great couple to sit back and relax with and just chat. Imagine that, no cell phone, just chat!
Thanks Alan! Nice to hear from you again!!
She's a beauty. Thx for getting us a tour!
Best Regards JP and Julie and Ken for posting this detailed look at the boat Cheers Russel
Hi Russel!!!! Hope the family is doing well! So nice to hear from you!! We are in Indonesia now, and soon Thailand for Christmas! All the best.... K Z

How the old bloke what a legend. He reminds me of one of my old ships captains. I enjoyed that and love the full washer.

Terrific tour, I’d like more, and just as detailed-
Well what a great couple on a great vessel with awesome up upgrades if the vessels ever for sale I would be interested

ancien modèle mais toujours une référence pour la navigation.ce super maramu solide bien construis sécurisant.
He’s quite pleased with his yacht.....
JP, and Julie, love Eleuthera! And you can see it in the way it is so clean and nice!!
That's a badass boat...Thanks for the tour.
Jin heavy wind you use the motor to move forward. Not the windlass.
We would never pull the boat forward with the windless on purpose. Use the motor and keep the pressure off the windless.

Very good video.

Thats my one big complaint about the Amel. THe bow thruster system. They should go with the industry standard.

UK Flag is upside down.. what is your distress?
The flag was probably made in China. The Chinese have a great since of humor!
It’s only upside down on the backside when it rolls on the pole from the wind.
The only thing more impressive than the boat is the engine room. Wow.
I have to correct you, it is spelled eleuthera, exactly as it's written. Greek word meaning free
Yes, I could have misspelled it somewhere in the video..... And, maybe I spelled it correctly in other places by accident. But, Thanks for the message! :) Happy sailing!
All things being equal, I would have preferred 45 minutes of Zivile / Isabelle giving the tour.
So would I!!!
Julie Rule :((((((
Jesus! She's in distress! The UK flag is upside down.
All the Brits are just wee bit distressed right now! With Brexit, the don't know which end's up or down!
Flag upside down? Look again. No other way it can go.
