When I was in college in NYC, I went with some friends to a comedy club in Manhattan. Modi happened to be performing. My friends and I were seated in the center of the room in front of the stage - the target zone for a comic like Modi. At one point he's making a joke and references something Jewish and he looks at me (wearnig a kippah) and says, "isn't that right, Avi Goldberg?" At the time, I was always going by "Avraham" but, for those that don't know, "Avi" is a common nickname for "Avraham". He and I had never met and I think it's just one of those things that if you throw out a Jewish name, you'll eventually find a Jew with that name. Anyway, this is a true story - despite it seeming like it isn't. That's why this whole thing was so shocking to me. It was hillarious!
He did not say sheitel which btw means wig. The word you're thinking of is shtetle. But he didn't say shtetle either. He most certainly did say "shithole"

I have watched this 100 times and laugh out loud hysterically every time. Modi has such great comedy timing, he has the accent, stammering and inflection down perfectly. Plus, the writing is genius. The Stan Laurel look alike is perfect too. Love when he takes the cell call which is so typical.Thank you for posting this.
Haha. Chassidim always answer their phones. They would answer in the middle of a presentation if they weren't specifically needed. Guess it makes up for no calls on Shabbos! Or it's just logical and they don't seem to have so many ways to offend each other in their culture. This is good shtick! Funny.

The fancy restaurant in the pico Robertson area of Los Angeles that he is probably referencing is probably SHILO’S STEAKHOUSE, very swank very expensive very delicious it’s across the street from congregation Beni-David Congregation which used to be a movie theater many years ago but SHILO’S is very highly recommended great steaks and all the food is delicious but be prepared preparedTo lay out some bread!
It's mostly old German, mixed in with some Hebrew and some Polish and some Russian. The Hebrew alphabet is used to write in, because at that time it was the only language that the Jews of Europe were literate in.

the dark one his name is Mordechai (Modi) Rosenfeld... btw the payos are fake but the yiddish is real Willy. he probably stopped being religious years ago... but you can tell he was raised in it.
The "you'll never guess what my son did" joke was great lol
God: you'll never believe what happened to me. BEST Jewish joke I ever heard. LOL
