You know what I’d personally love to see? Three people, ages 20, 40, and 60, sitting next to each other, ALL using the same exact products, but using them as it pertains to their face/age. I watch videos like this for eye makeup tips, but I have to admit that at 53 I can no longer successfully rock a full face of foundation, concealer and powder. I’d love to see more vids where people in different age categories discuss how their needs change, so their application changes.

42 don't have a clue what to do with my grand canyon deep lines that look like a neon sign saying how ancient I am I also have freckles everywhere so it looks weird when while I look like a leapord naturally but then have face all one color block I went once to the makeup store after watching u say u do makeup on ur cute videos I was like they have a place for people like me but she was not u at all she was 60 something and she had no clue it was like I met someone who was as educated as me the 42 year old who has never worn makeup other then tinted Burts bees chapstick which I have called lipstick for over a decade I was gifted a black one with pretty perl some other brand but don't know what as I was given wore it every day then when out I couldn't find it at the grocery store near me and I haven't been brave enough to go back to Sephora after that lady I'm afraid of running into her again I cried when she showed me what she did, my husband well he's not a nice person to begin with but he was worse then I've ever seen him on what he said to her I didn't get a chance to buy anything because I was very embarrassed. But I would love to learn new things and anything to feel pretty would be nice 😌☺.I also figure it's probably about time I start using something more then grocery store facewash, I probably need a lotion or potion when u said to put in the work I was like oh they have stuff thats work could I undo the years of Florida sun 🌞 beating down my farm working face. I do use sunscreen 100 spf and wear a hat 👒 and cut aloe leaves on days that 100 didn't cover so well even though I reapply every 15 mins 😅

@@jenniferscott3176 I'm sure Johnny will reply, but just my 2 cents...if you have deep lines etc, and you've only used some basic soap to wash, try going to drugstore like Walgreens or CVS (I assume you're American) and looking at drugstore skincare lines. There are some really good ones, that are reasonable. First things first and that's to get into a good skincare routine. At 42 (unless your skin is really oily) you'll want a gentle cleanser, a toner, a moisturizer and an eye cream. Neutrogena, Nivea, L'Oreal, Burt's Bees and Olay etc are all decent quality and quite affordable. Also, you should wear a sunscreen (specifically for the face) in order to prevent further sun damage, which freckles and lines are a result of. There are BB creams which even out skin tone and also help protect the skin. Plus, they are light, they won't look like a mask, and they don't settle in your lines. I'm not a makeup artist or esthetician, but I'm 65 and have been using the best quality skin care and makeup I could afford since I was 16 so I have some experience. Most skin damage is caused by photo aging which is the sun. We need to have exposure to it for health, but protect your skin is important. I hope this helps!

I met my now husband 7 years ago and the first time he saw me in makeup was our wedding day. I had one of my boys childhood friends (she was 15 at the time) do a very natural look to where most people couldn't tell I had makeup on. You make the concept of learning very friendly. Just bought everything he suggested a year later. Yes, most everything was under ten dollars. Just buying all 30 items added up. Lol but I had none of what he suggested. We are similar skin tone so I just went with the video. Didn't know about bronzer or highlighter before this video. And finding foundation to match my skintone was a nightmare because I'd find a shade that matched and then the item would be out of stock the next time around. Yikes. With covid I'd just put moisturizer on and mascara and eyeliner. By the end of the day the eyeliner would smudge so pretty. But I also have a big forehead so the bronzer and highlighter is a game changer for me. So I'm looking forward to my makeup. Now I just need a place to out it all.

Can I please thank you for taking the time to show makeup as an art rather than it being all about the trendy or the most expensive product or outrageous antics to gain viewers.
I watched with a young man who is fascinated by how colours, shapes and shading can change a face completely.
Your approach has made my god son explore makeup without feeling self conscious about being a boy who likes applying and wear make up.
You have reinforced our message that make up isn’t about race, sexuality or gender, it is about feeling pretty and it is gift to make others feel pretty. Anyone can and should wear makeup to feel pretty, gain confidence or for what reason they want.
This was an intelligent graceful tutorial that imparted knowledge with dignity. Thank you again.😁

This is the best video on the entire internet. I have never been able to explore all the types of products like setting powders and concealers and setting sprays and brow products, because it has been prohibitively expensive and if I didn’t like the product I knew I was stuck with it after paying $40 or more for them. I’ve tried various types of drugstore products for years, but I’ve never had them all work. I bought everything in this video and they all worked for me like some kind of witchcraft I loved it so much and after a decade of never feeling like I could really get into makeup or be good at it, everything has changed. I’m so excited for it, it’s ridiculous. I felt so good about how it all looked after this tutorial. Thank you thank you and thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is as relevant to me, a person too old to wear ALL the makeup, as it is for those new to the game. I’ve been dumping things from my makeup drawer recently. At certain age (depending upon your skin texture), makeup accentuates texture. It’s important to know what to keep and what to leave behind.

I've never had anyone to turn to or ask about makeup or anything like that, and tutorials rarely ever work for my adhd brain, but I started watching your tips from reels and then your longer videos and I finally start knowing how to do make up for my pale, dry, scarred skin. I get to have fun with makeup without feeling so stupid when I mess up something "obvious" because you are very good at explaining and using examples of products for more than one skin type - and makeup products one can afford at that!
Thank you so so much! Your channel is worth gold to me

I always have questions. Old fashioned, I need a makeover that i can do for myself and a touch up with my makeup skills sincerely..
I’m so grateful that you put this up because everyone else appears to be hurt or drunk and depressing, beauty isn’t what it used to be. I just needed to look at myself and feel better than Mom or employee or schoolwork.. I just needed this video.
Show me how to rock a look a little longer than my shadow.
I’m absolutely exhausted but I clean up pretty sweet and this..
This is exactly what I needed tonight.
You’re a Doll and the vibes are calming and funny and gorgeous so I can definitely use the help and experienced advice.
    Thank You for this.
Totally worth the watch. All I’m saying.. 💯” LEv

You are SO adorable! Started watching you on your shorts, decided to give one of your YT tutorials a crack. You've covered things other makeup artists/beauty YTers haven't; and you're hilarious as well as informative. The Amazon eye guides are spectacular....you're the 3rd person I've seen who says "Eyes first" which of course is not how I learned to do makeup. I'm now doing makeup, eyes first, and it's fantastic, but what a learning curve!! Thanks for this video. Btw, 3x8=24.

    Extremely helpful video.
I sort of stopped wearing make up (health, depression, why bother) and am wanting to get back to good, ya know?
I have to throw away ALL of my make up and start over since all of it is 5yrs or more older. Make up has changed a lot since the last kit I put together and it was very daunting when I popped into a drug store a few weeks ago and strolled by the make up on the way in.
This video was so informative and you delivered it in a way where it wasn't making feel a "OMG I am in so over my head... let's just not!" moment. You've a pleasant voice and that helps.
I'll def be looking at your other tutorials!

Ashfjshdhd okay! First of all, this look is stunning and I love the colors, just gotta get that out there.
I found your channel a while back watching the "Working at Sephora" shorts. Tonight I watched parts 1 and 2 of the compilations when this video popped up in my suggested feed. From the first short of yours I'd ever seen, I've been over the moon in love with your makeup looks. You pull everything off gorgeously and every look is jaw-dropping and beautiful. Out of all the makeup shorts, tiktoks, tutorial videos, hack trends, etc.; I have never watched makeup-related content that was so knowledgable, budget-friendly, in-depth, and marvelously informative. All the questions I've had over the last like, 15 or so years?? from seeing new makeup trends and the newest popularized styles to me first experimenting with cosmetics as an uninformed 10-year-old learning with my best friend, everything has been answered in one video! From techniques you've shown that showed me how to improve my application and fix errors in my process, to helpful and affordable product suggestions, it makes me so so so grateful that you make the content that you do. I can't wait to put all the new things I've learned from this video into practice and to see how I improve. Thank you for being a freaking superstar, and an amazing help to any and all looking to practice makeup artistry. I look forward to watching more of your content, previous videos and all to come in the future.

Coty face powder is my family’s holy grail. My great grandmother used it, my grandmother, my mother and now me and my sisters. My mom has a shadow box in her powder room with vintage boxes, some dating back to the 1930’s. I have a few vintage boxes myself. Also, blush and lipstick that are super vintage from my great grandmother. My mom also tracked down vintage prints from Coty and they are on the wall as well. The smell is iconic in and of itself. Always makes me think of my mom and my grandmothers.

Amazing Johnny!! Thank you SO much!! This has helped me in my makeup journey SOO much!!
When I was about 12-13 I started getting into makeup and my mom doesn't where makeup and she doesn't really own much of it. The only people in my family who knew what they were doing with makeup were my first cousins once removed who are 8-12 years older then I am and they took me to Ulta and picked out some basic makeup products for me. I then got into theater and had to get so many more products for performances and I learned how to do stage makeup which is very different from regular everyday makeup. I still don't know what I'm doing my any means but I have so many more products. I think just a few months ago I got my first contour/bronzer and actual blush (I had been using a lipstick that I hated for its intended purpose but loved it as a blush).

Love your technique s. A couple that I had forgotten over the years and a couple that are kinda new to me, that I need to incorporate. I was really amazed that there were several product brands that I use every day, and you showed them! My wish is to have your eye structure- but, alas, VERY hooded, age sagging and 1 eye has xtra sag lid from busting it open/scaring. Then the under eye has emense bags I mean seriously big. And of course crepe wrinkle too. I use plexaderm with no makeup underneath as last step so it lifts smooths and bags are no longer packed. I need to take my time and try to do you eye techniques to fool (a little) the look of a defined brow bone and deeper set lid. Thank u johnny! Old days can learn new tricks!💋💖
