Older video but I came across this video. Building an excursion and the drone is killing me! MBRP 4” but drone after 70mph. Can’t wait to get it done. Thanks!
I watched video for ideas on eliminating exhaust drone on my Camaro SS. I absolutely love the exhaust note I currently have. With that being said, your truck sounds ABSOLUTELY SICK!
I dont think the location matters i did this on my g35 very close to the engine and it took 30 inch j pipes to get rid of drone at 2000 rpm and then I moved the j pipes to the back behind the rear tires using 27 inch j pipes and it had drone so i made them 30 inch and it was perfect so location for me was the same i think the drone wave need to be canceled anywhere on ur exhaust as long the branch resonators are the right length.
Thanks for the video ! I am gonna try the same set up here in Canada. Just looking to source the parts now. I have 2020 6.7 with a 5” flopro exhaust w/muffler and it drones on the freeway also. Did you insert the j pipe into the main 5” or just stab it on the end and weld it ?
There is science here, it is called a Hemholz resonator. Any accoustics book or resource would have the formula for the calculations. The diameter is not critical, it can be smaller than your main pipe (obviously not too small). You will need to know what frequency you are trying to cancel, the operating temperature and you are set. There are constants for the speed of sound, etc, so look it up, not rocket science. Folks that didn't see any difference were not performing the proper math, hence getting the length wrong, so no surprize that it did nothing, essentially building their resonator to the wrong frequency that didn't need cancelling, duhhh... OEMs go to great lengths doing this from the factory, explains some of the massive mufflers, combined inlets and outlets you see on so many new cars, doing both tasks of muffling and cancelling.
Hey Bill, honestly.......has the delete been worth it ? I hopefully, maybe, possibly may get, and have have been praying for a Super Duty of my own. I am looking at deleting it and am looking for honest input from people that have done it. Pros.....cons.....anything?
Holp u can help me I got an 1989 Chevy short bed truck 350 motor and I had 40 sires flow masters dules on it but the reason I took them off is that clapping sound makes it sound off like glass packs I hate that well I thought of I put on dules magna flows I may get read of well no go on that I love flow masters and magna flows are louder because you can see straight through it but that clapping sound o and it's hot 2 and half inch pipes the system set up is a y pipe and no cats on it but if you can help thanks boss
Nice bro In my vehicle I deleted the. Middle muffler and sound wa very good but as yuo said there is a drone My question is after installing the G pipe the drone will stop or reduce but about the good sound I got will it reduce or?
I removed my resonator, but now I have drone. I've seen this before and know it works, but I need to figure out the length I need. I clicked the link but it didn't work. Can you help me get the info I need?
Does this also cut out the cab noise from say like at a red light and take off. I have a 5” exhaust with axle dump and it gets pretty loud inside at times especially pulling my boat
Hi guys Have you had any questions on 2023 gwm cannon ute I seem to have problems which what I think drone sound to the point my year ache gwm haval don't even care ander their warranty
Where is RPM in Cali? I would like to try this method on my Chevy SilverAdo 5.3. Muffler shops around me sucks. Need s real good muffle guy that is knowledgeable and good welding skills.
I didn’t find the information on diameter and length the j pipe should be. I have 2 3/4” diameter exhaust. I can make it same diameter as exhaust, but I don’t know how long to make it. Silverado with a 4.8L v-8. Any help would be greatly appreciated
@@CaliMotoTV hey thanks for responding man. Yea, drone is killing me. A few too many said this mod didn't help ...so I am now leaning to adding a resonator in front of my mufflers instead...just no time to experiment. Love the idea and wish i knew it'd work for sure.
All the jpipe does is it destroys low rpm sound waves and it amplifies the higher rpm sound waves. So no exhaust flow change. If you want to install a jpipe you have to calculate the length of the tubing with the specific rpm you want to quiet down.
Hey Bill is there any smoke when towing? I tow a 20k lbs 44ft fifth wheel. I am running a 2017 f450 with a single wheel conversion, and want to make sure that I’m not rolling coal under load.
Installed Y pipe muffler delete on my 2016 Ram 1500 Big Horn. Any recommendations for limiting drone? Have after marker shorty headers as well. Btw stock diameter piping
Just tried this on my 1990 silverado with 3 inch pipe and flowmaster 70. Didnt make a bit of difference. I made a 31 inch long pipe out of 2.5 inch pipe as i read you want longer for low rpm drone. Should i try to cut it shorter or just give up
You are supposed to use same size pipe as your existing exhaust system. If you use a different size you will have to play around with, the calculation won't be correct. Also if you make bends it changes the calculations. Easier to start longer and shorten as needed. You can also make an adjustable one.
The muffler shop said he would clean out my cat and the drone noise is really bad at 70 mph! It’s quite the scam he cleans out your cat and he sell the preisch metals and he takes about 500 lbs a month of the very pricey metals which is a lot of money for this free service. Quit the scam he has going on !
So I guess I will be putting a j pipe on! I have a auger pipe but I think it might a gimmick too. Sure hope J pipe works when hauling a Bigfoot truck and pulling a jet boat and my wife gets a head ache. So life is not good if wife can’t take the drone sound and 200 rpm with 373 gears !!!!
Sorry, your explanation sucks. This is an example of Noise Cancellation by using the Exhaust noise to loop around or provide a signal that is at 180 degrees to the source, with the two noises cancelling each other out. Its a pit like putting a noise cancelling headset on your exhaust.
Older video but I came across this video. Building an excursion and the drone is killing me! MBRP 4” but drone after 70mph. Can’t wait to get it done. Thanks!
Did the pipe this morning 40” big difference! Smoother acceleration no drone! Thanks again!
I watched video for ideas on eliminating exhaust drone on my Camaro SS. I absolutely love the exhaust note I currently have. With that being said, your truck sounds ABSOLUTELY SICK!
For camaro and chargers i use j-pipe
What exhaust did you put on your car or what did you do to the exhaust to remove drone? I’m currently on that boat lol
Thanks! Good info. My Stang is killing my ears. Going to give it a go
Does yours get louder as your wheels turn faster?
I’ve seen that Chevy for sale on Facebook it’s a clean rig
Good thing it's a Ford.

Such a good looking truck. I’ve got the twin to it in black.
I love your truck I have a f250 as well please do updates on what you did to it. That's why I watch your channel
just a Helmholtz resonator.

Welded in.
Still working good ? Would you make Any changes ?
Did you ever do this on your ram 6.7?
What made you do this instead of just putting on a resonator?
I deleted my resonators, when I added my flowmaster super10s should I have kept them ? Do they help with drone ?
I accidentally blew my cat out from driving hard. She's loud now, hahaha
You have some of the best, smoothest video quality of any RUclipsr. What camera setup are you using, if I may ask?
If my measurement is 28” does the pipe length start at the weld or along the length of the straight part of the pipe ?

I drive a RAM 3500 and I can say it’s worth it with a good tune. Only down side is the smell.
You're incorrect about tube length vs RPM. Lower RPM drone needs a longer pipe to cancel it out.

I meant to ask the sound will be the same as Original as OEM after installing the G pipe or little louder
Im gonna try it out. Thanks allot.
Exhaust resignators? Exhaust parts that quit?
Yup. Resigned to work. 🤣
I removed my resonator, but now I have drone. I've seen this before and know it works, but I need to figure out the length I need. I clicked the link but it didn't work. Can you help me get the info I need?
Tbh can't remember the dimensions anymore. Maybe visit synapseengineering.com/ and hit them up directly for sizing support.
34” on J pipe cummins 5.9
Closer to the turbo the better it works .
I have the auger pipe but have not tried it yet. But looking at the J pipe now at 34” so what do you think on a 5.9 cummins 24 valve ?
Great, but I assume there is some math here, and you know exactly what frequencies you want to target. Would be nice to know that.
Does this also cut out the cab noise from say like at a red light and take off. I have a 5” exhaust with axle dump and it gets pretty loud inside at times especially pulling my boat
It should help overall drone noise.
where did you get your delete kit
Hoooo Rayyyyyyyy,, the Super Beast IS BACK !!! Thank you Bill.
Does that affect performance?
Thank you so much ❤
No. My s2000 for example has a small one built into the oem exhaust.

Supposed to the same diameter as the original pipe for heimholtz
👌
Will this work for a gasoline pushrod V8?
Should work for any exhaust but may need different piping.

Are you losing power due to the Anti Drone thing ?
All the jpipe does is it destroys low rpm sound waves and it amplifies the higher rpm sound waves. So no exhaust flow change. If you want to install a jpipe you have to calculate the length of the tubing with the specific rpm you want to quiet down.

Yes but it's between 3 years since your comment. You ready for the answer?
Where r you located? I need this.. 😮💨
What is the effect on your mpg
No impact as far as we can tell. Just disrupts the frequency of the sound.
Where is the link for calculation?

I have a 2006 corvette and I added super 10s and the drone is annoying how can I get rid of the drone?
@@CaliMotoTV would that eliminate the drone inside completely?
Can pedestrians on the road hear the droning or is it just something I hear inside the cabin?

Going to try this on my Gladiator
Do you need to make J pipe same diameter as my exhaust system ?
I hope he answers this
Supposedly works better if it is the same diameter, but most people go smaller and it works fine.
Can anyone tell me what was was on at the end of the video.
🤔 End of the video? 🤔 😅

Dont they call that a mid pip
Isn’t that called like a humboltz muffler or something like that

Yea
