  • This video tells the viewers about Dev Anand's strong connection with the movie Mother India (1957). Dev Anand was a very good friend of Mehboob Khan, the director of Mother India (1957). Mehboob Khan allowed Dev Anand and his brother Vijay Anand to shoot the premiere of Mother India movie, held at Liberty cinema hall in Bombay, in 1957. Dev Anand used the real video footage of Mother India's 1957 premiere in his movie Kala Bazar (1960). Kala Bazar released in 1960 was directed by Vijay Anand and also featured Dev Anand's elder brother Chetan Anand in a cameo role. In this video we talk about Dev Anand's movie Kala Bazar (1960) which became the only film where all 3 Anand brothers - Chetan, Dev and Vijay acted in a film. Dev Anand was shown as a stylish black marketeer in Kala Bazar (1960) and was romantically paired with Waheeda Rehman.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Wonderful trivia! 👏👏 Sir Dev Anand has always been a favourite of mine. There used to b a show in early 2000, hosted by Pallavi Joshi, which talked about various actors and their journey in d film industry. It was here that I came to know about Dev Anand and that too through d song Achha Ji Meri Haari... I was hooked to ds song right from my childhood bcz of Madhubala ji( one of my favrte actresses) and fun xpressions of the actors. I hv watched many of his movies since then but sumhow hv missed ds particular one. Thank you for the recommendation. I'll watch it today itself 😁😁

It is very true , those days were like that, black marketing of movie tickets was very common soon after the booking closed.

    I love your video’s
FYI (on Mother India), Marlon Brando was a big fan of this film and believed it was much superior to Fellini’s Nights of Cabiria, which won the Oscar in 1957 for best foreign film.
I apologize if this information was already shared by someone else here ealier.

Love you Sir, wow, what an unthinkable and unbelievable treasure like news!
Trust me, I just jumped out of my seat and said aloud Hurry! For, I watched my Mother, Lata jee, waving her hand to the camera! My Mother is so very serene and celestial.
And lo, the one and only Rafi Saab, then Nargis jee, wow ..what a fortune! Watching the then entire galaxy there speaks volumes of Mehaboob Khaan's unparalleled and enviable status in the industry.
And Dev is my most liked Actor.
Kya zamaane the! Both the Industry and its patrons never compromised for crap.
Thank you, thank you. Thank you so much.
    God bless you.
