    Help I have a new Mac with less storage around 512gb then my previous iMac with 2TB. My external HHD has the time machine backed up but when I got to set up the new Mac I get a message that I don’t have enough storage with 512gb. My question is that I have a new external SSD 4TB drive is there a way to use the external as the main drive for the new Mac. Apple is telling no since the time machine is encrypted.

    Do you have any suggestions for the following - my external SSD drive slows down when copying files to it. It is connected with a thunderbolt cable and very often starts transferring at speeds of 4-500 MB/s. Then it starts to slow down to around 150MB/s. I have used AJA System test and Black Magic Disk Speed Test and they confirm this. Which ever test I use it starts off fast for a while and then slows down. Is it something to do with caching of the SSDs? I am transferring video files most of the time. Any help or suggestions will be gratefully received.

    guys. if you followed everything step by step, there might be a problem where the you might have accidently did "Mac OS extended Journaled" for both (Time machine and PC & Mac). The creator accidently formatted both as MacOS Journaled. So you want to have that transferring between Mac and PC, do the ExFAT while partitioning.

    • @TechandDesign
      @TechandDesign  10 месяцев назад

      depends. That could be because the SSD is broken/damaged. Or it could be the cable or even the port where you are connecting it. If you are using a hub than its best to directly connect to make sure enough power is getting to the ssd so it runs.
