Good to see Joan Barfield talk. In the early days I thought she was mute.

She actually wasn't a bad actress. Shame her role wasn't expanded a bit.

And as it turned out the impression Judy did of her voice in 1981 was pretty close.

It was also Mrs Barfield who did the cell checks over the closing credits for a long time.

I love all the background screws, when they get to speak for me it always improves a scene. My favourite is Andrea Radcliffe

Sue Bailey definitely should have become a regular and a senior officer. Much more capable than Barry, Slattery etc.

Wow never realised Joan Barfield had spoken that much, always thought she’d only probably had one line throughout the whole show. Watching this I wonder why they had always kept her as a background officer? she’s actually good at acting 🤔

2:00 Ah Delva Hunter. Pity she never became a regular officer - good actress. Would be great if anyone knew anything about her...

I found her on the 1954 Australian census and apparently she lost her sight towards the end of her life.

Wendy Ward must have been one of the longest serving background officers after Joan Barfield. Glad she got some lines towards the end of her time at Wentworth! Shame Sue Bailey didn't get featured more often - I think the actress who played her went on to appear as a main character in A Country Practice.

Sue Bailey was a minor role but
She wasn't an extra. She had alot
    Of speaking roles.
