Also, I want to note how emotional your voice and expression gets when talking about these hard topics and horrific situations. Most videos about traumatic or intense events like this don't convey the emotional impact of these events. Bravo for humanizing these situations and the people involved. Sometimes we forget history isn't just stories you hear about or words on paper. This was people's trauma --their loved ones and their lives.
@Angel Cobb thanks for pointing this out. It's actually really hard for me to talk about some of these scenes. I can't envision a world where people would do some of the things we find in these stories. I'm hopeful that I'm humanizing the people who experienced these tragedies while telling their story.
@bonniestormcloud thanks for sharing that! I found a couple great pictures of Mr Higgins on findagrave.com if you haven’t seen them fyi. I can add the link if needed. If you have any stories about him please feel welcome to share them here. Thanks for watching the channel and keeping his memory going.
@@dr.maples my dad actually put the information on find a grave. He also has some newspaper clippings from way back from when my great grandfather was Sherrif of Galax. Thank you for keeping the history alive.
@bonniestormcloud that’s awesome! I’ve long enjoyed using findagrave as a historical source. So many amazing stories there. Was this Galax VA or was it in WV?
@dr.maples I believe he was one of the first Sherrifs of Galax VA the newspaper clippings are from there. He went on to work for Baldwin Felts during the coal mining wars in WV
@bonniestormcloud thanks for sharing this awesome connection with history with me. I hope you enjoyed my videos on the Mine Wars. I’ll have more historical content out soon.
