I don't have a favorite hockey team because I don't follow the sport so I'm coming in with an outside view. It's clear to me that the Oilers clearly have posed a problem to the Panthers that they haven't been able to solve. Previous series or even seasons mean nothing. Each series are unique and it's clear the Panthers don't have an answer for whatever the Oilers are doing now. I can't see the Panthers winning this game. Oilers are playing better and clearly want it more.

Just great to see you!!!!! Loss, or no loss, you are great at what you do, and you are a professional. Yes, taking back Barkov's goal was indeed a back-breaker. And I totally agree; the Oilers appear simply to have figured out the former magic of the Panthers. Don't worry Armando. I'm a lifelong NHL fan....probably 3 of your lives, lol, so I have experienced the absolute heartbreak of my team breaking down. Just adding, I'm a Canadian, and my lifelong NHL love is the Montreal Canadiens, who as you know, are in the third year of a rebuild, giving us HABS fan a million heartbreaks over these 3 years. Yet 4 years ago, WE made it to the finals too, and then got DESTROYED. Since last year's finals, I have loved the Panthers as my second-favourite NHL team. I've falled in love with Bob and Barky, and Forsling, and others. Gotta say I tolerate Tkachuk. Why? Well, indeed his attitude has improved a ton this year. Much more mature and personally controlled, ego much better in check, so that's good. And yes, one of the leaders. But he's still got a ton to learn from Barky. Cousins kind of makes me ill sometimes when he IS dirty. He's not always dirty. Love the whole rest of your team, and their backstories, and their grit and guts. Try not to be dismayed. The Panters have shown so damn much promise and they STILL could find themselves in game 7. I'll let you in on something as a decades-long NHL fan, and as a Canadian. It's the Oilers coaching at THIS point, and obviously their players executing their plan beautifully. For this whole years, the Panthers have executed their coach'es plans just brilliantly. But now, for the last 3 games, your coach, who I really like, has not come up with any answers. Just realize, that many of the CANADIAN EX-NHLers who succeeded in the playoffs of years past, are helping the coaches of the Oilers. Mark Messier, Duncan Keith, many, many, many others. This is a Canadian thing. And completely legitimate. Our nation is a world hockey nation. Coaches listen to experts if they are smart. So THOSE guys have influenced the Oilers excellent adjustments. I think Paul needs to contact some great AMERICAN ex-nhl playoff heroes. Paul's approach died 3 games ago. We all know that. Go Panthers, I love your team, seriously. Go Oilers; Canadians want their damned Cup back, lol. Messier and all of them want it back, and Messier is an ex-Oiler. Paul needs ex-players in the room talking to your boys, just like our ex--boys are talking to Chris and his boys. Good luck on Monday. PS, lol, I had a small bet on the Panthers. This is growing pains boys. PS, your team flying in all of their family and friends for game 4......very bad taste. No true hockey fan respected that. It really looked bad. Overconfidence kills as badly as lack thereof.

The problem is the feeling is that if the coach knew the problem it would have been fixed and then you get to a point where you have the goalie take you to the brink only to fail badly and the question is when do you make a change? I kinda feel for the Florida fans because hockey playoffs cab be brutal .. I think the team that scores first and maintain that lead for more than five minutes is going to tell us if Florida is stuck in losing mode or they can switch the play .. the biggest problem for Florida is that they got away with slow starts against the rangers because the rangers couldn’t take advantage and then Florida just took over 3rd period . Edmonton is making Florida pay and they have to start the game like it’s the 3rd period otherwise expect Edmonton to celebrate in Florida

I realize it's 82 games plus the playoffs and these players are creatures of habit. That being said, watching the game FL is predictable when in the O zone wanting to just cycle the puck. Watch EDM throughout the game, they just anticipate the cycle game, aka take the step to the boards before the puck goes there. FL, IMO needs to change this and take it to the net or just put shots towards Skinner. I would also like to see different dump in's. Sometimes put the shot/dump in towards Skinner. Try to get O zone face offs or a mistake by Skinner. Again the predictability of FL on the the dump raps have the Oilers D men below the dots ready for that. Lastly, I would like to see the PP go to a 3rd/4th line mentality aka outwork the PK and keep it simple. No fancy plays and have a shooting mentality. All in game 7. FL won 3 games, no reason a 4th cant be won

The Panthers have recached the Stanley Cup finals, two years in a row, that takes a toll on any team. Lost's of games, and lots of time on the ice, travel and pressure. Not too many teams get to the finals back-to-back, let alone go into 7 games. They are probably very tired, the mistakes seem to show it, lapses, and just exhaustion.

The Panthers just happen to be wearing shirts that say Florida on them. It’s been a fun series to watch, but the cities themselves have nothing to do with it. Any geographical attachment you have to either team is a function of your own ego. If you love hockey, just enjoy game seven regardless of who wins because either way it’ll be a bunch of Canadians hoisting the cup as it always has been and frankly always should be. As a 40 year fan of the Oilers, I gotta tell you, I heard so much over-confidence coming from the Panthers side it was all a bit stomach churning.
    1. Oiler's are a 2 man team, we have talent top to bottom
    2. Bob vs Skinner isn't even a match-up. Skinner's an AHL goalie and we've just beaten the greatest goalies in the game
    3. Maurice vs Knoblauch? Best coach vs some rookie
    4. Barkhov is gonna shut down 97 like he has every Center so far
    5. We've had the toughest road to the Cup, Edmonton had it easy
Does all of this sound familiar? The best learning is humility. All of that over-inflating the Panthers while laughing at the Oilers wasn't smart. But, you're playing at home and its even-steven so anything can happen. Whatever does, be humble next year.

Good for next year. Panthers could become a great team. Anyone could win game 7. Greatness comes with more than one Cup. May the best team in game 7 win. Yes I want the cup back in Canada. But it's now a 1-game knockout, each team having won 3. Barring idiotic reffing, or a team losing control and being in the box way too much, the team that fights hardest and smartest (stay out of the box!!) for this should win. And THAT'S the best team.

Tkachuk has been an absolute ghost in this series. Verhaeghe has been a colossal disaster on the ice. Reinhart has made no case for bringing him back. Our special teams have been an embarrassment. Our defensemen have been outplayed, and Montour can't be gone soon enough. The defense, as a whole, from the dmen to the forwards, has been a complete shyteshow. Bob is last on the list of guys I can blame for the situation we find ourselves in now. Yes, it would be great for Bob to completely carry us through the Finals and put on the greatest goalie performance in the history of the game. Because thats exactly what he was doing. Try putting blame on the true no-shows. We can also stop shooting meatballs at Skinner that any Beer league goalie can stop. You know... As an Oilers fan, I swallowed my pride before this series started and straight up called Panthers win the cup in 6. I seriously thought they were the better team. Boy was I wrong. The Panthers haven't come out and dominated a single game this series. Goalie Bob won game 1 by himself because his team sure as hell wasn't helping him much and Skinner had a bit of a bad night. I'd say that game 2 was a little more along the lines of where I thought the Panthers would be. Game 3... Well it was mostly dominated by the Oil. Hard loss, but oh well. One goal game. Then games 4, 5 and 6... The Panthers didn't even show up in game 4. I suppose they were physically in the building for game 5 and 6. My point is, let's just be real for half a minute here. The Panthers, as decent as they are, can't keep up with the Oilers. They've proven that they are not as defensively strong and that they can't keep up with Edmonton's offensive fire power. Like McDavid didn't do anything offensive in game 6 and it was still 5-1. I know this is a Panthers podcast, but the Panthers are done. Thank the turtle for me.

I believe the panthers read the headlines and believed them. The oilers read the headlines and made them more determined. Panthers were top 5 all year and played consistently. Oilers had to fight back all year from 30th place. That adversity can consume you, or prepare you for hard times ahead. Have faith in your team and good luck.

yes, I agree, I was actually going to comment that this Armando dude understands hockey to the depth of a Canadian... but I figured it would sound too arrogant ;-) You don't often hear Americans who understand hockey, because they seem to only be fans of their home team and not hockey fans. The Stanley Cup playoffs aren't popular in the States.

I think the Panthers roster celebrated a bit too hard after game 3. Drank a bit too much, partied etc.

I hope the team is not watching this podcast. Grey skies and sorrows. As an Army vet, the mantra, when the going gets tough, the tough get going; we believed in that corny stuff but that corny stuff will get you to the other side. It’s been obvious since Game 5 the team is fatigued; yet still trying to play the same aggressive forecheck. That’s a recipe for what we’re seeing. I think FL has it within themselves to pull together and play a very disciplined game, adhere to the defensive structure and pounce when opportunities are presented. That’s been their winning formula in the recent past, but with good reason their mindset has taken to an all out blitz approach on offense and but can’t get the same level of execution. This team can put the clamps down when needed and it’s needed. I thought Edmonton took on a conservative approach in Game 6, partly due to their weary bodies as well. McDavid definitely paced himself in Game 6 vs 5. Don’t misinterpret “paced”, he just wanted to reserve the game 5 jet fuel he exhibited for game 7. Can’t wait to see how it unfolds, but I think FL will find a way to reverse its fortunes and win in a nail biter.

Panthers couldn’t close in game 4….. Panthers tried to close in game 5…… Panthers tried so hard in game 6.
If Skinner shines in game 7?… PANTHERS LOSE!

Who would of thought? This Oilers fan thought it could happen. Tkachuk thought it could happen. He knew from his time with the Flames the Oilers would shut him down and quiet him in the series. LETS GO OILERS!!!

14:25 No, we don't need the superstars showing up? McDavid and Drai show up all the time. Oilers have shown that the whole team shows up. Goesfor Dallas games too. Dallas is a phenomenal team and was considered to have more depth. Again, Oilers whole team showed up. Im happy Panthers are getting a wake up call because Oilers being down in the series 3-0 is the best thing for Oilers.

Bobvrosky is throwing the series for money it's not rocket science. He carried the team on his shoulders for a long time and held all the cards. He got pulled from Game 4 lmao it was so obvious. I am a Panthers fan but I'm not an idiot either. Talk is cheap, so I bet it on Oilers last week. Read em weep, boys. Easy money. Open you're eyes kek
