    What a delightful presentation! Congratulations! It made my day. And the translation is impeccable, the translator’s voice so soothing.
    I enjoyed seeing the option of making my own dress form covered with thick canvas but I don’t trust my patience or skills to tackle such a complex and precise project. Thank you for offering the discount for the professional made dress form. I would like to be able to afford it, maybe in the near future.
    For now I will keep relying on my $25 dress form bought from a local shop, it matches my size quite well.
    I wanted to upgrade to an adjustable form and I got one from Amazon this week, which I returned the next day. This video explains perfectly the reason for my disappointment.
    Thank you for one of the best videos on RUclips I ever saw 👍😊

      Thank you kindly 🌿🌸 Your message is very sweet and I am happy you enjoyed my english voice ☺️ If the dress form you currently have is not an adjustable one, you can always open the cover slightly (unstitch the seams) and add or remove some padding were it's needed, to really make it your double buddy ;-) Then of course a few hand stitches to sew the cover back. Hope that helps ! It's actually much better to do that than to use an adjustable form. All the best, you can do it !!! xx Romy

    I would be very interested in learning more about making a dress form from a bodice block. We also have a company called Bootstrap Fashions that will make a pattern from your measurements.

      @@RomyStanZakStudio They do! They require MANY measurements which they input into a computer program (I believe) and send you a digital pattern with instructions. I made one a few years ago and it turned out fabulous. However, making it is a bit of a challenge for a beginner. I've been sewing for MANY years (je suis une vieille dame) so it was great fun for me. It matches my measurements beautifully. My only wish is that I'd made one with legs. The Royal Dress Forms are marvelous, but as a retiree, the Bootstrap version is a much better fit for my budget!
      Thanks for the wonderful video. I look forward to viewing more of your videos as I know there's always something new to learn (even at my age!)
      Merci beaucoup mademoiselle.

    Thank you for this video. :) It was helpful and definitely got me excited about making a DIY custom dress form. I would love it if you did a tutorial on your method. It looks really professional and functional and I love your idea to use canvas. Was your pinnable filling just polyester batting? I already have a Missy Roxy dress form and my moulage and I'd like to pad it to my measurements.

    • @RomyStanZakStudio
      @RomyStanZakStudio  3 года назад +2

      Thank you 🌸 If you already have a dress form and a moulage, you are set :-) I don't know Missy Roxy dress forms, but if it is adjustable, the best is to adjust is one or two sizes smaller than you are, then place your moulage on it and carefully pad the difference. Yes I used batting. A good technique is to use several layers of batting (But WITHOUT polyester in it !) and to iron them carefully one on top of the other, so as to have them 'shrink' slightly on the dress form. It will be stronger, more durable and stable. Again, don't use polyester (plastic) batting if you want to iron it, it would melt on your iron. Hope that helps ! 🌸

    I would love to be able to sew my own dressform out of fabrikk. But i dont trust myself to make my own accurate pattern, and specialized pattern makers dont have much options when it comes to assymetry. I have quite bad scoliosis, so i found that the easiest and most offardable option that would come out as accurate as i want it was casting myself and using expandable foam! A lot of work but definately worth it.

    • @RomyStanZakStudio
      @RomyStanZakStudio  3 года назад +2

      It’s wonderful that you have a dress form that works for you 🌸👍 If you want a custom made dress form that is made out of fabric, you could also have someone drape you with fabric to create a pattern, or you could drape your own dress form yourself (the dress form you made with foam) to create this same pattern. This way you would be certain that the dress form perfectly reflects your unique shape. I will do a class about it in the future 🌸 happy sewing and keep safe ✂️✂️

    I really enjoyed your video. It was very informative. I’d like to know if the dress form, whether purchased or handmade, is the exact measurements as your body, where does the easement come into play. Do I add in extra inches to the dress form? I need to know how the wearability and movement are factored in. I called one of the major dress form companies and they could not tell me. Sewing is not the problem for me. Getting the garment to fit me is the issue. I have no problem with alterations when someone else is wearing their own garment. Thank you for your input. Diane

    • @RomyStanZakStudio
      @RomyStanZakStudio  2 года назад

      Hello Diane 👋 yes the dress form has to be your exact measurements because you might want to sew really fitted clothes such as bustiers or lingerie. Then you add the ease in your pattern. When you drape your dress form, you can add ease directly, or you can add it after, at the table. You decide what ease you want. There is the ease for being able to move and breath (wearing ease), and there is the ease inherent to the style and shape of a specific garment. Hope that helps !

    I would love to buy a professional form from the brand you suggested, but not only are the dress forms and shipping to Europe expensive, I would probably end up paying the same amount for customs/import taxes. I guess I'll have to do some research, see if there are any EU based stores as I am nowhere near skilled enough to make my own at the moment. Very informative video though, thank you!

      Thank you 🌸 I ordered mine here to be shipped in the EU as well and the taxes were about 100€. This is expensive indeed but I use it for my work so that was an investment. Hope you find somenthing you like were you live. All the best to you and season's greetings 🌸
