Beautiful series from a more elegant, gracious time; characters to fall in love with! I'm an American and have no trouble following the script while listening to the beautiful Italian language. The characters are not only believable, but the script is well written and full of heart. The sets are immaculate and the fashion conveys the elegance of the time. There are poignant moments where the values of these characters are touchingly challenged; where old fashion restraint, coupled with the modern influence of the late 50's, has an indelible impact on their lives.
Their society is not only still recovering from the war, but the characters have a largely catholic upbringing. This influences, pulls and tugs with their base humanity. The film marks a time before computers, cell phones and the quick news of the world -- so much so that you are just as absorbed in their story lines as were the people of that time. If you love Downton Abbey, Victoria and The Crown -- this series will add to your love of the beauty of traveling to another time, culture and place. Absorb yourself in the lives of these complex and lovely characters. Highly, highly recommend!

I’m always attracted to series/movies from that era, grace m, beauty and elegant. I feel like I belong there, although I was born in 1986. I saw the first episode by a coincidence today on Dubai tv and it was dubbed in Arabic. Now I need to look for the original. Btw I love Downton Abbey very much

the series has now turned into a daily show (like a soap opera, but def more sophisticated)...I am not saying much for the sake of spoilers, but I will tell you that only two characters have stayed from the previous two seasons.

I usually watch action shows, but this show was fun to watch. However, it's hard to believe that a chain-smoking, 40ish executive brooding at his desk much of the day with a cloud of smoke around his head, who's also a former alcoholic, would have a rock-hard body built like an Olympic swimmer.

Whoever did the translation for the subtitles needs to go back to school. Its pathetic! They translated the accountants name Gallo (seagull) as Turkey! Everyone else gets their own name, but this poor soul gets called Turkey!! lol This is annoying, but some of it must have been done with online translation software, that doesnt always pick up colloquialisms. e.g. Sta male? (Is she ill?) was translated as "Is she bad!" Please, acorn TV, employ someone who actually speaks Italian and English!
