Paul van Dyk live, Casino Berlin, 17 12 1999

- This is an old VHS recording from a Paul van Dyk party in the former club 'Casino' in Berlin. It's been the last big PvD party in Berlin that was not yet organized by his own label and named 'Vandit Night'.
It was one of the first parties in the (old) 'Casino'. One year later the club was closed and moved until 2004 to the place that is now taken by the 'O2 Arena'.
Eventhough the queues were huge and the toilets were horrible, it remains for me one of the best electronic music parties I ever went to. Paul was playing for 10 hours until around 11 am! "What a man!" ;-)
Those days PvD played not yet 'behind fences' or on big stages and he played all his tracks from vinyl.
Two english "Gatecrasher-Kids", (I called them like that because they were dressed like the people in the famous Shefield club from those days where PvD played regularly) recorded that movie and sent it to me later in exchange for some PvD audio tapes. :-)
For those of you who want to download the movie, here's my public download folder, where you can also find the Radio Fritz jingle, the scanned flyer, another PvD documentary (german only) and a few digitized audio tapes from PvDs old radio show 'Sound Files' on Berlin radio station Kiss FM in Summer 1998. His comments are german, the sound quality is terrible, but the music is great: www.bynarus.com...
And here's the tracklist, thanks to DJ Mikey Mike from the TA forum:

This is my Video!! I can't believe after all these years it has ended up on here, I am the Bleached blonde haired guy on this video and the girl is my friend Laura, this is just mental. Schoerny you are the only other person than myself with this Video. hope you are well
I’m showing this to my 11 yr old trying to explain the youth culture of this era. Superb footage. I first saw van Dyk at GC in Sheffield playing a 6hr showcase and was hooked from there joining as a Crasher kid. Memories forever. Itwillalwaysbewithyou ❤️🤍🖤
The value of this video is IMMENSE!!!!!!!!
Such a great video! I was at the Vandit night @ Casino a couple of years after this. What a great club - nothing pretentious, just a room with a bar and a booth for a DJ. I remember handing PvD notes with requests on it and he’d just go ahead and play them. I miss those days. And what an eclectic mix of music he’d play! Was never just 3 solid hours of trance like now. I always loved that he never gave in to the whole over-the-top performance aspect of being a DJ during this period either - he kept his head down, concentrated, and occasionally punched the air. What a DJ he was!
Das war so eine geile Zeit im Casino ,Ostgut und anschliessend wenns noch ging in den Tresen😍!
ERPELPARKA!
Immer gut dicht gewesen !Und nich hängen geblieben 😜!
I really can't believe this video ended up on the net, I swapped this recording for 3 VHS cassettes with old old PVD radio shows that Schoerny had recorded onto VHS in long play so 12 hours of Radio shows nobody outside of Germany had heard.
+Shiny Matt Score Great! --upload them ;)
❤i was there 💯💃
Although the quality is low this video is still better than most of today's videos taken by mobile phones. This video has soul! Amazing!
Die guten Alten 90er, ick könnt heulen und lachen zu gleich, das wahr leben,;-()
Great video, great times with pvd. No phones people were definitely happier back then 😊
i love the sound. So dark, so underground, .... so real. In 2004, i was in Casino for the Valentine night. It was ...... like this. Remember everything.
take me back to better days, i wish i would have been around for these times. this puts modern day raves to shame.
I dont listen to trance nowadaaaaaays. but old stuff is just amazing. and this what he was doing at the time was art. A real dj.
I often come back to this video for reminiscing purposes but never noticed before the guy that is stood stock still through ‘Der Scheiber’!! How does that happen for such an absolute belter of a tune??? 🤣🤣
un-fucking-believable!!!! Thanks for the upload!!! This is what it used to be about- dancing on the same spot for hours on end!!! And then, all of a sudden it was 11am!!! Todays kids will never experience nights like this! Peace & Beats y'all! x
Fantastic fantastic video. There's so little video footage of the great DJs from the 90s, to have a whole hour of PvD at his best is a real privilege.
Warehouse raves, Flaming June, vinyl decks, the Crasher kids... nearest thing you can get to a time machine!
totally agree
13 years later, the tracks are classic, mixing is epic and I'd still dance to this...This was PVD's 28th Bday party mix - can't wait to hear his 41st Bday mix this December..
Problem is, these seedyclubs don't exist anymore. The best music came from clubs like these
I still have one the cartridges and needle off the decks from that night and my friend has the other, one of the mos amazing nights of my life
can you please upload
When Paul was a real Dj :(
His harmonic mixing skills were awesome
Wenn ich das Video sehe, bekomme ich immer noch eine Gänsehaut, werde diese Party nie vergessen!
Amazing>>> i remember those days. Paul still rocks. This is what a good DJ is made of. We are lucky to have exprienced this era in EDM. Paul U ARE THIE KING OF EDM and TRANCE
AMAZING VIDEO!! Casino was an awesome club but even more awesome was Paul himself, back in those days. These tracks remind me of some of the best moments of my life. I still go to see PvD when he is in town but back in those days, he was a god to me. I traveled all over the world to see him play and he never disappointed. Will never forget those years. Thank you so much for sharing this video with all of us!
I just went to go see PVD in Chicago 2 days ago and watching this...it's just so crazy how the whole scene is SO different now! 10 years doesn't seem that long ago it really has evolved
If time travel is ever invented, this is where I'll be going back in time to. Love it!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Das war noch unser Paul ....
Oh my god, this video is unreal, Schoerny thank you so much. I think in late 90`s and begin 00's combine two factors: every trance tune have his magik sound, a live mix with many emotions. No massive internet, no massive music, it was more underground, and the music was more simple, less synths, less instruments. I can dance trance for the first time in 00 with Tiesto and music was very good, its impossible to create good trance along the time. Good times forever remain with these videos!
@anddyffm same here mate! One of the most amazing experiences was that I used to bump into one particular group of clubbers who went to virtually every PvD gig in 2002/03. We were always too busy havin fun with our mates and we never exchanged contact details but always recognised each other. The epicness of the tunes and the vibe can never be equalled
I was 10 when this people raved. Full RESPECT for PvD!
thanks for the list. actually saw your TA post, must've overlooked the list there.
much good stuff in the next few weeks, too many overlaps, hard to decide...
@Schoerny, THANK YOU for uploading this!!! This is pure gold...I get chills watching a pre-VANDIT PvD, vinyl-choosing, Berlin crowd talking/interacting with the DJ...you just don't see this anymore. @SunshineBree & @anddyffm, my most I ever saw Paul was 15 or so times in 2003/4 timeframe, including many a VANDIT night in Casino...RIP.
The track at 18min is the one everyones wants !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unreal video! Also, 1:04:08 - dilated pupils, swinging jaw (possibly just chewing gum)... Is Mr Paul Van Dyk on something? ;)
absoeffinglutely legendary!!! Way to create an atmosphere the kind we can now still get at PvD sets and Passion and Slinky classics: the moments as the Revelation remix kicks at around 9:00 onwards. Btw, who's on remix duties on that one?
the first club I visited in Berlin in 2001
good old times!
Awesome..!!!!
EXCLUSIVE !
1000 Dank! DAS WAREN DIE PVD PARTYs....
Man i wish i could go back to the 90's!!!!!
anyone know name of record at 36.00???
true, BUT:
I heard this in the 80s/90s from the old deadheads about the Dead ca 1965-1972 vs then too.
It's always the same complaint. We get older, we change, the audience changes. It's not ALL bad, even when we lose the rawness/intimacy when it goes to the next level.
Like the hippie movement: dead by 1967 when it was on Time's cover and tour buses stopped in the Haight.
mention the Dead on purpose: this music here is the closest to AcidTests we've been since the actual tests!
Ok, so here you can download the video:

And here are two 'bonus' files:

Thanks!
Not a piece of Pioneer gear in sight ! LOL :P
What happened to the AnugaSE post with tracklist? schoerny, if you have it, perhaps you can add to your description?
Pacha? when the music's good, the venue is ok, even if full of kids :)
The Casino right next to the Ostgut/Nontox was an amazing club. good memories.
True! But this video was shot in the older Casino (former Backfabrik near Saarbrücker Strasse), which existed only from 1999 to 2000....
@Schoerny Exactly! I was a regular at the original Casino. It's funny how the club looks bigger in this recording than it actually was. I never thought I'd come across video footage from inside the club, esp not of a PvD set. Such a rare gem. Thx for the upload! Ps. Sadly your PvD folder upload is down, could you re-up it? I'd be so thankful!
Hello Schoerny
Any chance at all to revive the "bynarus" website?
Thanks in advance.
The uploaded files are still there, but the automatic directory doesn't work anymore. Here are the direct links to the files:
