Angela, I really enjoyed seeing these lovely lamps repurposed. I have rewired more than a few vintage lamps as well and the one thing that was missing from your video was an underwriters knot. This knot is done after feeding the wire through the lamp before attaching the wire to the socket. Its purpose is to provide stress relief in the event that someone pulls the wire the connection is not jeopardized. It is a very useful little extra that helps to insure safety. 🙏🏻💜 stay well

And a mention of the hot and neutral wires and the smooth and ridged sections of wire to help tell them apart.
I learned about these additional bits from viewing other videos.

Have bought about 3 new lamps in my lifetime; I am 79. All others in 2 houses were acquired secondhand, some free! Needless to say, I have many interesting lamps, some valuable, and some I created myself from vintage appliances, including a fan, and yes, both the fan and light work at the same time! Have rewired most, and changed sockets on some. Anyone can learn to do it and it's fun.

Love it!! I've not seen those kinds of plugs and not knowing how to deal with that has kept me from rewiring my grandmother's iron floor lamp. I did read an article from an antiques guy that said if you do need to replace the socket that you should save the old housing and put the new socket in the old housing so the whole thing still looks old, so I thought I would give that a go. In for a penny, in for a pound, after all. Thanks so much for doing this video! This is close to my heart.

Angela, you mentioned that your magazine is based on European traditions but didn't you also mean to include the magnificent blue and white china which originated in China? And how can you decorate without the extraordinarily textiles of ancient India such as paisley, your beloved plaids and cashmere (which comes from Kashmir!). Remember, those two brilliant civilizations were creating all this beauty that you love 5,000 years ago when our white ancestors were living in caves. My understanding of life and beauty didn't really begin until I studied and acknowledged those two magnificent civilizations. ❤ ❤

I haven't read through all 125 comments, may I mention 2 things about this very cute lamp that you have... 1. I noticed that you did not discuss tying an "underwriters knot" within the socket so that the wires do not pull away from the screws and
    2. You did not mention that there is a hot wire and a neutral wire. The hot wire side gets attached under the brass screw, the neutral wire gets attached under the silver screw. This provides the safe polarity that is needed.
Again, perhaps this has already been added in the comments above. I enjoy your videos very much and hope this comment was made with respect. 😊
