The worst thing to happen to Ink Master was the demand for large tattoos be finished in less than 6 hours when some of the best tattoos in the world take multiple sessions to complete over many days. They're just lining up sacrificial canvases...
@@sleepysio well, something worth noting is that the “time limit” is just for television. (Dramatic effect as they say). But even then, still doesn’t take away the fact that a lot of these tattoos require way more time then the artists have available
I thought the same thing. My artist did the outline and shading/black and gray in the last sitting, 3-4 weeks healing time, and then coloring it in. 3 hours per session. And in my opinion, at least for me anyway, the healing is a lot less irritating. And this guy works fast, so he got a *lot* done in 3 hrs.

I think it was actually to prove to Tyler that he still needed to develop because he wasn't heading Chris's instructions. Sometimes being a good teacher requires giving someone a reality check and then giving them the opportunity to prove you wrong. This is a common technique in the military and Chris is a Marine.
The Artist: "Hey man, what you originally wanted just isn't going to work. It's too large and will take more time than the competition will allow. What about this other great looking design?" Human Canvas: "Nu nu nu nu nu noooo, I want a free color tattoo that doesn't fit within the challenge and if you don't do my original idea that would take 16 hours outside of here then I don't trust you and I'mma walk out. Just because he doesn't have experience tattooing darker skin, doesn't make your skin hard to tattoo, he needs to learn how to do color theory on darker skin too. You're all good (:
No, that guy just sucks. He refused to draw a female lion because he thought he couldn't make a lion look like a lion without a mane... even though female adult lions and all lion cubs don't have manes and definitely still look like lions. More lions don't have manes than do, actually. He has no artistic talent whatsoever, so he chose her skintone as an out for why his piece was gonna suck. The colors showed up beautifully on her skin, the linework was just ass and that was all his fault. If you plan to get a tattoo, definitely ask to look at an artist's portfolio and ask them to see work on clients with skintones similar to yours, though. Some artists literally only get white clients and have misconceptions on how to work on darker skin and you don't want to get scarred up or bad healing cuz some schmuck doesn't know what they're doing.
A room full of artists AND the show about tattooing are calling it a hard thing to do. The terminally online people will say "no it's just skill" but so is tattooing palms, or ears. It IS more difficult, but the armchair twitterites think otherwise.
these canvases around the 1:10:00 mark are really picky for getting a free tattoo. This is for them to do well, yes of course you get a say in what goes on your body but you cannot just dictate when you are not the one who most likely has never even touched a tattoo stencil before. High key irritates me when they get mouthy and then blame the artist when they were warned
If these so called artist can only win by messing with someone's head because they feel threatened, then they don't deserve to win. I would get some headphone's on listen to some good music and drown out their negativity.
I haven't gotten a rib tattoo before or any other tattoo but I've seen people get them and some had very high tolerance for it but others didn't and they was in pain but my only question is y go for a rib tattoo if they tell u that's one of the few worse places to put it
From my perspective having got a rib piece, I like the way it looks. Yes it was very painful but overall I like how it sits and how it looks. Wouldn't get another one though 🤣
You have to have an understanding of your pain tolerance to be honest. I have five tattoos, and I wouldn't say that any of them were horrible for me to sit through, but I had some discomfort during the process, especially with my last one because I have a nerve disorder and it can make just a massage feel like white hot flames on my skin, so a tattoo needle was a little bit unpleasant, to say the least, but I went into it knowing what I was signing up for, so I didn't complain about it and I didn't really have any big issues because the artist was able to keep up a decent conversation and so I was able to put my mind off of the pain. Prior to that time, I had my wrist done and that wasn't bad at all. My wrist went numb during it and then my hand was a little bit weak the next day, but it healed up pretty fast and I didn't have any issues with it. The only one that I really had an issue with healing was the one I had done on my ankle/shin area. It went to the bone in some areas (or it felt like it did) and so it took forever to heal all the way. I think it was close to a year until it was completely healed up. It was never infected or anything like that, but it was just always tender to the touch and I had to be careful with socks covering it too long or rubbing over it too much, so it was just irritating until it finally healed up. All of that said, even if I didn't have the nerve issues, I don't think I'd ever want to do my ribs. I never had a problem with sitting for tattoos, my first time I was just talking to the artist and singing along with the music he had playing in his studio, so I was never a problem canvas...lol but I know my limits. I wouldn't be able to do my ribs and so I wouldn't put myself, or an artist, through something that I know I can't do.
It really depends for people. My friend got her first tattoo on her ribs. I’ve heard some people disliked more commonly “painless” over their ribs. Depends on the artist and the situation too. Really hard to tell how it’s going to feel till you’re getting it done
I may be in the minority here, however I feel Kevin did a more accurate portrait than the other two on the kids portrait challenge. His looks like more like the photo and they have a bunch of lines that just don’t exist… I know the show is quite biased but I still love to watch and it sucks when some challenges they go off of report cards and others they say: “doesn’t matter what you’ve done, we’re judging on what we see today.” Like pick one or the other man.
They really need some more skins tones in this show!! then we might see something really different... After seeing so many they start to blend and look the same... 🤷♀️
I hate these canvases that come on the show an act like its all about them. You want exactly what you want go shell out hundreds of dollars and get exactly what u want.

I think his own style is what screwed him. It's not that the judges hated his style, it's just that he didn't try and show off his other style, which leaves him looking like a one trick pony
I just found out that Clint died. He was one of my favorite contestants. RIP
Damn that's heavy, so sad just found out because of this comment RIP Clint
Scott Marshall passed away I believe a year before him
@@aryamsoto3422 FFS such a shame
@@aryamsoto3422 yeah I read about that too. Super sad. He died a year after he won Ink Master.
@@MosarieMusic shit. How did he pass?
In my opinion, Kyle’s tattoo was better than Amanda's tattoo, I don’t think he should’ve gone home!
They should have the judges do a tattoo so we can see how perfect they are
Agreed! Battle of the judges! 👌🏼
Yaa bro because they're only trash talking sometimes even a good bulletproof tattoo can be bad tattoo in they're eyes.. Nunez and Peck so bad a judging, they are trash talking
I remember they had an episode where some one faced off against Peck doing a micro tattoo and I’m pretty sure he got whooped that day lol.
@@kyleshalongo1789I think it was Steve. They had to do like quarters or something like that?
@@kimixvvtl5510literally!! They’re also unbelievably biased with the artists and art styles omg
9:11 the face of "i don't want to spoil her joy but the judges are not going to like it"
Luv the humble ones that say thanx for the opportunity for being on this show it will help me in my career 🙏
The dude sausage was working on who straight up told him he doesn't care about him being in the competition gives off the impression to me that he has some sort of issues
Yeah, his issue was that he lost a lot of weight and then was called soggy, saggy, and hard to work on on national television. Sausage should’ve just told him why his softer stomach wouldn’t make a good, long-lasting tattoo, not tried to gain sympathy by saying “they gave me you to fuck with me waaaaah.”
And yet he somehow convinced him to change it
@@forkingsandkeys yeah I agree. Sausage should've tried to work with the client rather than backing the client up against a wall where they can't morally say no.
Terrible acting i felt like the producers tell some canvas to act like brats on purpose. It’s evident
@xKouture Of course, it's for the drama or else people won't watch. People watch for drama and tats.
Bro it's so fucked they sabotage an artist and a client ends up with a fucked tattoo cause they want to win money.
Nah u get what u deserve
Well they're getting the tattoo for free, knowing the risk of getting a fucked up tattoo so...
To be fair though, the human canvases sign up for this and they know what they’re getting into.
See, the difference is that you (and me) sees clients or customers. To these people, they are only canvases.
For sure. It's not only shitty to the person getting the tattoo, it's just poor sportsmanship.
biggest tattoo artist energy is just getting exasperated no matter what the challenge is lol "ughhh I hate doing _____" or when the canvas explains what they want and they are like "whaaaaaaaaat aughh that is horrible" like everything bothers them haha
I've seen 95% of these same video clips 20+ times. Aren't there behind the scenes ones or ones with other artists who weren't as popular!!?
When it's an artist's fault because they don't work with their canvas and have too much ego involved, then it's fair to call them out. But when a canvas is being a dick or a pain in the ass, like Koi girl or pixelated motorcycle guy, then outside of something like this, the artist has every right to tell them to kick rocks.
Koi girl and kito where as bad as each other it looked like 4 seperate ugly tattoos
Christian was the biggest bully of all the Ink Master seasons. People with class don’t act like that.
He made every season he was in a hell to me, i can't stand his bulling
He’s seriously so annoying
If someone made a compilation of him just being an asshole it’d be longer than an ink master episode 💀
I hate that attitude of his
people like to hate on christian for his talk when kyle was trying to get out of a rib tattoo, but he was right. if you go to a competition claiming to be an ink master, you gotta show that you can do everything. if you can’t, you still got some work to do before you try to say youre the best 🤷🏻♀️
I would love to get a tattoo done by Kelly just because she seems awesome to spend time with
I have a tattoo from her and she's amazing, and worth every penny!!!
Some of these excuses got me dying😂 maybe y’all shouldn’t compete for Ink MASTER if y’all just like doing it your style
for real! Versatility is essential especiality if you want to be a damn famous tattoo artist winning a lot of money
To whomever puts these compilations together, could you please stop repeating challenges we’ve already seen on other videos? It’s very rare for me to watch one of these and not have a repeat of a challenge. With so many seasons, I’m sure it can be done. Many thanks! ❤
Seen all of these already we need a new season😂😂😂
Just realized how many people on this show have spaced ears.
Someone explain to me why Nikki is so cocky and laughing at Kevin going home when her tattoo was worse then his. She acts like the judges said nothing was wrong with her tattoo it was perfect but that's not what I heard
He went home cause it’s gonna heal badly
She's a d*ck. Throughout she's been insufferable.
@@sleepysio that wasn’t even the challenge above a challenge was accuracy in doing a Portrait and his was more accurate. They don’t even know if it’s gonna feel badly or not because all of the people that are in charge is only do I have the American traditional or Japanese, which are super heavy dark lines so they already don’t like his style. That’s why they say it’s not gonna last, even though they don’t even know if it’s going to or not. He went home because they didn’t like that. He wasn’t listening to them. That was why he went home.
I would have much rather worn Kyle's tattoo than Amanda's. Her's was horrible.
The Achilles’ tendon line gets me every time😂😂😂
27:32 No else finds it insane he covered up a swastika with a Star of David?
How on Earth did they send Kyle home and not Amanda?? Hers was BEAT! Like, a five year old drew it BEAT
My man Kito getting fun of yet again 😂
I hope the young woman, who has the lion/heart tatoo; who liked the tattoo, still likes it. They were harsh on their criticism. It's a little strange, but, so are tattoos...one love.
Seriously thats crazy to say Nikki's horribly ugly portrait is better than Kevins which looks fine.
bahahah cleen eeaching austin how to make stencils hahah. im a teacher for ages 9-12 and i related too hard
I think a Phoenix anatomical heart morph would be really cool. Half a heart and then a wing forming the other side, a head forming the artery and flames for other features if needed. Then you could create a lavish tail to really sell the Phoenix
sometimes i dont understand these artists. why are you on ink master if you cant do a certain style??
Dave's canvas for sure had a thing for him. Must have been his weird mustache .
ok i hate it when canvases sign up for a FREE TATTOO in a TV SHOW then refuse to give any leeway or be like "idc how you do in the competition" like i feel like thats just a little too much
you can see the orange tones on his lion tattoo and he could’ve done a lioness. they weren’t even really mad at his technique, they mostly believed the entire tattoo was a poor design.
Remember those canvases probably vote... Absolutely terrifying.
some of these artists will go on and on about how bad their canvases but when they repeat “this might be my ticket home. this might be my last tattoo. pray to Jesus. i’m nervous” of course the canvas is going to get upset!
I watched Amanda get saved twice when she shouldn't have been
More than twice.....have no clue how she got this far
It's fun watching Christian, like he really is a guy who is wearing his heart on his sleeve 😂
I’d rather wear kyles temple than Amanda’s….hers was crap
I wish they would show more of the artists work.
“Hard to do colour on people with dark skin”
*shows a woman with dark skin and a sleeve full of colour*
Just say you suck man
A black man gave him a dark skin girl that wants color.
Maybe the tattoo artist(s) know something you don't?
There's a reason she was considered a sabotage (by a black man) there a reason why every tattoo on stage felt bad for him getting her
@@JerryDaBes she's not even that dark for one, and you're ignoring the fact that she literally has a sleeve of color, its clearly possible and not that hard if the tattoo artist is decent at their job.
@@JerryDaBes have you ever seen black people in your life? Nothing about her skin is remotely dark she was maybe 2 shades under the artist tattooing her 😂
@@1svmxo You're fucking blind if you thought she was white.
@@wintermoon7003 where did I say she was white?? lightskin black person and a tanned white person can very well be close in shade. Clearly you have seen many black ppl so idk why you think your opinion matters here
"Shes got dark skin, so I can't do it in color!" just say you don't know basic color theory.
Every time I see Chris, I get frustrated. All he does is slam, Taylor. He talks about how shitty of a liner, shader, drawer, how he can't place a tattoo, his color palette. Like dude, he is your apprentice it's your job to teach him this stuff so it says more about your ability than his.
I think it was actually to prove to Tyler that he still needed to develop because he wasn't heading Chris's instructions. Sometimes being a good teacher requires giving someone a reality check and then giving them the opportunity to prove you wrong. This is a common technique in the military and Chris is a Marine.
Should’ve been blind judging cuz we all know they would’ve sent Nikki home.
That backfires on jordan was just pleasing to watch...🤣
The Artist: "Hey man, what you originally wanted just isn't going to work. It's too large and will take more time than the competition will allow. What about this other great looking design?"
Human Canvas: "Nu nu nu nu nu noooo, I want a free color tattoo that doesn't fit within the challenge and if you don't do my original idea that would take 16 hours outside of here then I don't trust you and I'mma walk out. Buhbuy."
The hands on that surfer cover up 😹omg
That panther that Austin did wasn’t even that bad and I don’t know why tf Turk is trying to give him advice 😭
While I understand the competitive/ revenge aspect, I feel bad that some 'canvasses' walk away with shitty tattoos.
Would love to get a tattoo from any one of these people. Got my first tattoo in a kitchen at 15 😂
I was 15 and in a dilapidated trailer. Lol
@beatrixbrennan1545 what does dilapidated mean? 🤣 I didn't go to school much when I was younger so the big words are a no no

1:22 THAT IS A SICK TATTOO. I WANT IT SO BAD. LOVE TYLER SM
I still see the eye in BONE FACES TATTOO
What a fucked up concept to try and make the artist fail, who would want to take a tattoo which is set to fail
Anybody get tattoos an can’t stop watching this now?
@29:11 christian spitting straight facts.
Hes a dbag, but I agree on that point he made.
I’m super late. But I have to ask. Im black around the same skin tone as the lion heart client. Is it THAT hard to tattoo slightly darker skin. Bc that girl was not even that dark. There are waaaaay deeper skin tones in the world, but Dave makes it seem like it’s impossible to her skin =/
Christian’s cover-up was so bad, you can still see part of the original through the cover-up. That asshole should’ve been sent home.
@@joanneking170 I feel like I could sit through a rib tattoo but I would have to think of what to get first
You have to have an understanding of your pain tolerance to be honest.
LMAO Chris was so FOS tried to manipulate his way to the end... fair play but it failed!
Kyle's tattoo was much better than Amanda's
Kyles tat..i think was so much better.
Customer isn't always right. So tired of the judges siding with the pain in the ass, entitled people.
They robbed tf out of Kevin. They picked him just because he did what the client wanted instead of what the judges wanted . They’re lame af
They really need some more skins tones in this show!! then we might see something really different... After seeing so many they start to blend and look the same... 🤷♀️
I hate these canvases that come on the show an act like its all about them. You want exactly what you want go shell out hundreds of dollars and get exactly what u want.
