Catching Brown Trout On Dry Flies From The River Usk - Early Season March Brown Hatch

- Andy heads off for the final day of his two day trip to the river Usk in South Wales, in the hope of some early season dry fly fishing for brown trout. With the potential for a hatch of the famous March Brown flies, as well as Large Dark Olives, Andy is confident that he'll get some epic dry fly rises over the two days. However, it doesn't always go to plan, so having the ability to throw Jig Streamers is really important too at this early season time of year.
The question is, will the hatch of March Browns happen, or will Andy have to throw the jig streamers? Enjoy: Early Season Brown Trout Fly Fishing The River Usk In South Wales - Dry Fly & Jig Streamers

Huge Huge thanks to - Hooksounds.com
Probably not the feedback you expected but.....love the fact the back of your car looks like an obstacle course from the Crystal Maze 🤣
We enjoyed that on a wet day in June when it's blowing a gale her in Durham. Nice video of some lovely fish. Thanks.
The stream of consciousness commentary is really helpful... great to hear your thought process throughout.
Hey Andy, another great vid, was a cracking day, cheers for the shout out! 😃 Tight lines, Robin
Great video Andy, superb educational content. Your rod storage system looks good mate
So good Andy Thanks!
Excellent video again Andy
Good video - looked great fun.

Always a pleasure to watch your videos and I just wish I could get out onto a river but won't be able to get out until June when I am on the R.Dee. in Wales. Tried to get a Vision Hero at 3 wt 10'6" for euro-nymphing but apparently not in stock so am waiting. Nice to see you catching on various methods.
Another excellent video Andy, two methods I have not tried before northern spiders and Jig streamers, will definitely put them on the menu, really enjoyed watching, always learn something, thanks for sharing, tight lines.
Lovely stuff, Andy. Slightly frustrating to watch as I'm currently waiting in temp accommodation to move to my new place in a small town on the Test, having finally decided to leave London. All my rods and most of my possessions are in storage at the moment. Hopefully, I'll be in and settled by early May and can get out there and make up for lost time.
Great approach and prospect..yes that wind
PS sorry I never came to say hello, swap a story or two at the BFFI
Spiders more me on the Eden soon...and the LDO,s.Great traditional patterns to fish and tie

Ill need to give a streamer a go this weekend, not seen a single riser this season yet but early days I guess. Another great vid, very helpful to see your train of thought and methods in play. Thanks 👌
Thanks for another great video Andy. It's got me inspired for opening day of Trout tomorrow. It's definitely that time of year where one set-up is not going to do it. I'll remind myself of your example if I get too lazy and make myself change it up.
Definitely worth having a few techniques in your arsenal early in the season
Great vid Andy, lovely fish in a great part if the world.
Chess Glynn, much appreciated!
Cracking videos fella nice Fish :) I dont live to far away from the usk river but never fished it will have to give it a go soon. I'm thinking about getting one of those nets have looked on the web site there are two diffrent sizes which one do you use please
I love this area
Great day. 4 methods. It’s turned bl***y cold here for the start of the season. Snow flurries yesterday and minus 3 predicted tonight. Think I’ll give it a few days yet
Solid as per.
What part of the usk river was you on
Hi Andy. As usual great info in your vlog. Very pleased that the river was in good condition for you. I will try to keep the juices from flowing too much, before I'm there next month. Find your perception of what method to fish in the different water/flows very interesting and thought provoking, especially as I have fished the same beats. Can't really blame Ieva for sending the Chopper to look for you if you are going to turn off your tracking App: hope you blamed it on poor reception. Did you get any result with the peeping caddis? Looking forward to the next vlog from you or Ieva, (but also hoping that you are kept very occupied and rewarded with your business).
Hi Andy, loving the videos and inspired me to get back into fly fishing. My local rivers are similar to the usk, and I may fish the odd small lake and other small rivers… What weight rod would you recommend? I’m torn between 4 or 5
Hi both great show 👍 what beat are you fishing ?
Hi Andy, great video. Which was the rod you were using for the dry fly? 🤔
have you ever tried Tenkara fishing for trout? thinking of giving it a go @andy
I have bud yes, it wasn't really my bag but in the right situation it'll be a cracking method!
@@IBandAndyFishing ordered a kit of ebay gonna give it a go
Hi Andy, what was your rig for the jig streamer on the Vision hero 3#? Wasn't sure if you had a regular fly line with a long leader or a French leader?
Hi Andy, it's literally just the first stretch of 5X tippet from the indicator to the first dropper tippet ring - nice and simple
very enjoyable video Andy - do you have any pics or a video on the streamer you were using? thanks :-)
Hi Andy. What streamers were you using?
Oh dear....
Where on the River Usk were you fishing?
Is it the Abergavenny Town water, looks familiar
