I think the reason that you are treated like a local is because you actually take the time to show that you care about the place. I'm considering moving to Paris, and it's amazing how many English-speaking "expats" there are who know nothing about French culture, politics, history, sports, etc. Now, I'm not saying that someone needs to know all of that, but it does show that you have interest in the place besides just "living a better lifestyle". Gracias Alberto! I think if I'd come here 6 years ago I would be more focused on tourist sites but as I said in this video that's just not what I want anymore (it ties in with me moving back to Europe and not travelling anymore). I think the magic of Torreón and the fact it's not seen as a 'tourist city' is that you can come here for a normal life, but also discover the tourist aspect at the same time, unlike Guanajuato for example where I feel even if I lived there, there would still be this tourist aspect, especially as a foreigner.
We went to Mazatlán in June when we knew that there would be no snow birds in town and that most of the tourists would be Mexican nationals. One happy consequence was that we met several very friendly nationals - including a very nice young couple from Torreon who, like us, were celebrating their anniversary. (Their English was much better than our Spanish - she had lived in the USA at one point and he worked for a USA call centre). I might have mentioned this before - but when I told them that I knew about Torreon because of your videos last year - they said that they had seen them. So congrats on your celeb status - you deserve it for all the images and information you have shared about areas of Mexico that do not attract influencer attention. I am waiting for you to be adopted as a local, throw out your EU passport and move in with a nice abuela, a mexidog and two cats.
It took me about 10 minutes to realise what you meant by snowbirds. It's been a long week LOL. That EU passport is being protected like a beautiful fluffy angel!
Hi I am from Torreón and it is kin of weird seeing someone liking my city this much, also kind of encouraging because my tesis is about hospitality and tourism in Torreón so yea thanks for this
That's awesome about the thesis! I know how you feel, I feel the same when someone goes to London and loves it JAJA. I guess when we grow up or live somewhere we know the bad points as well as the good. It's kind of how I feel about Mexico City now after spending so much time there. I mean it's great for a short visit but I definitely couldn't live there. I'm not at that stage with Torreón yet!
Great City ! It is where we stayed during our 17 days visit to Family (who live there) We must have just missed each other ! (we left 1 week ago) I recommend Mexiquillo Durango state), El Pueblito (yes, there's a village called that), Dunas de Bilbao, Saltillo, Bermejillo and El Salto. There's so much to see where the (regular foreign) tourist doesn't come ! And perhapt Parras (oldest wineries in Mexico)
Yes! Parras and Viesca are upcoming videos! Mexiquillo - I stayed in that tiny village with homemade chilaquiles! There's a video there from last year as well as a couple from around Durango... really cool place! Remarkable presentation here David, the iconic buildings, the food, how the community celebrates with music and art. It was interesting to see Andean music played in Torreon and that you have become a recognized local. Pretty neat museums and teleferico, awesome place ,that mountain, with ample views of the big plain where Torreon is located. And again you a veteran of walking in the heat in the middle of the day, the regular experience of the mexican.
Thanks man as always. I'm not even joking when there really is so much to do in Torreón which you wouldn't expect. I'm glad I've been able to spend a lot of time here. Getting to know people and particularly my Español listening improving has really helped. In the museum I couldn't always speak well but I pretty much understood everything. 4 years ago = no chance!
@@davidostrowski679 That is what surprised me, it is a lot to do, you are getting off the beaten path of the pueblo magico tourism and showing that one can have fun in the north of Mexico.

I was in Parque Urbano a few days ago! I had some tacos and lonches from a place someone recommended yesterday, Taqueria Güero! There really is a lot to see and do in Torreón. My time has gone so quickly here but I still have 4 videos to come from the region!
I didn't see that scorpion the last time! Reminded me of that time I ate one lol. The railway museum was so good. Normally I'm not the biggest fan of museums but they really go over and above and it was good Español listening practice. Bloody brilliant xx

David, Torreon's history is very interesting, as I'm pretty sure you already know. From its beggining, the city was populated by people from all around the world, mexican from north and south, libanese, chinese, european, americans. Also, its common to have people from other places here, like indsutry managers or football players, or inmigrants, so we are very acostumed to people from all around, and as you tell, there aren't too much turists over here, so, all are very well received. Welcome, and I hope you are doing well in this year heat wave.
Thanks Victor! Yes I love the multicultural history! In one of the videos from last year there's a bit at the Teatro Isauro Martinez where the guide tells me about some of that history and after that I went to the mosque. Also the whole think about Chinese and the Canal. Re heat I am very much accustomed to it now especially after 6 weeks in Sonora too jaja infierno
That was an amazing travel, i like when you visit places and you talk about you feel walking around them, i didn't know torreon has a big Cristo it looks awesome, have a nice day david ✌🏻
Hi David! It is nice to see you are enduring the summer heath in northern Mexico. BTW... I saw in one of your walking videos a shot of one of the Farmacias Benavides braches. Did you know that the drug chain company is owned by Booths (UK)? They are all over Mexico, specially the North since their base is in Monterrey
David, you are already a Lagunero, mate. Thank you for showing the nicest side of OUR City. Also, you need to go to "Flor de Jimulco" is a Natural reservation, 40 minutes from Gomez
10/10 Moved to Torreon about 7 years ago. Definitely fun to go around. Also, I don't remember which days exactly but there are some times where El Bosque turns into this mini fair. There's a lot of food stands, ferris rides, etc. And def recommend going to the Alameda at night, that's when it comes to life.
Yes always very lively at night! Unfortunately nearly impossible to film at that time due to low light and copyrighted music, but I've been out a lot! (no one believes me if its not in a video LOL)
Amazing how much Torreon has changed and what you have learned along the way. In general the people of Mexico are very friendly people and in some cases, once they see you and get to know you, treat you like one of them...Sorry that they don't treat you kindly in Hotel Rio Nazas...lol. Looking forward to seeing more of Torreon and more videos in the surrounding areas David. Stay safe.
oh they were very polite in Hotel Rio Nazas! I was just exaggerating as I always get thrown out of places (not just in Mexico!!). I am leaving Torreon today in real-time but there are 3 more videos to come waiting to be edited!
I agree 100% with your comment about touristy areas and scams. I think two things happen - first, people just see you as chump to extract money from (whether through time shares, tequila tastings, illegal drugs, etc). Second, the tourists are so rude and obnoxious that the locals treat extranjeros with contempt or at least keep them at arms length. Anyway - Torreon looks great. Thank you for this1
Totally, chumps! That's exactly how we are often seen. You just don't that in Torreon because I think it's more SHOCK that an extranjero would even bother!
Very nice and very insightful video about a city is not mentioned in a rough guide new edition about Mexico, keep that way David and waiting for the next one.
David what a wonderful video about my home city, many thanks! You're an awesome person. You know me and my wife lived in Liverpool England for more than 3 years and I must say ..we felt at home! Our children were born there. Regards and God bless!

I escaped from my city almost 10 years ago because of economic reasons. Back to the 2000's I used to enjoy the the food and play free with the other children. I was happy and i didn't know it. The time runs fast... I Miss my city, but now living in Monterrey and having a better life style, I think that maybe when I get older I can go back and die where I born.

Funny that I just traveled on a train with a steam locomotive last month. in Palestine, Texas. And today, I just walked up Calle Rio Nazas in Cuernavaca to pick up residency card. Got to feed some angels today, also. FYI- In Texas, the name for little dust tornados is dust devils. It is amazing how kind everyone is, even if they enjoy gently poking fun at me. The use of the double entendre is alive and well in Mexico. While getting my residency card, the officer addressed me as caballero rather than senor, because of my attire. que pedo
Angels! Good job on the residency card! I remember dust devils! I did a storm chasing tour in the US 5 years ago (much of it in Texas) and I learnt the difference between a tornado and a land spout, among other things!

I have to be admit, harina has grown on me, particularly with burritos. Gorditas for me must always be corn! SURPRISED. I really miss the beef in Chihuahua xx I thought I'd filmed the falling up the stairs and hitting my head on the pole bit lol
For future tourists of this beautiful city.

Welcome back to Torreón, I hope you are able to visit other sites like Parque Urbano, Plaza del Eco, TSM Stadium, Teatro Nazas.
I was in Parque Urbano a few days ago! I had some tacos and lonches from a place someone recommended yesterday, Taqueria Güero! There really is a lot to see and do in Torreón. My time has gone so quickly here but I still have 4 videos to come from the region!
Does look like a gorgeous place :)
many would disagree hun x
Wonderful as always.. It is so wonderful how appreciated your work is..and how connected you are..😊.way to go!
thanks maryjoan! Hope you're doing well!
That was fun! Interesting railway museum, and the huge scorpion you saw on your teleferico ride was cool. Very well done as always! 💕
I didn't see that scorpion the last time! Reminded me of that time I ate one lol. The railway museum was so good. Normally I'm not the biggest fan of museums but they really go over and above and it was good Español listening practice. Bloody brilliant xx
THIS IS MY HOME!!!! ♥️ My mom was born & raised here. I spent most of my childhood summers in Torreón. These are core memories I hold close to my heart. Thank you for sharing and thank you for your appreciation to this city!♥️
I have been in MANY places in Mexico & USA and I have to agree, Torreon has the tastiest food.
Yasss! In the next video there are some amazing gorditas!
Great video mate.. you really do shed a light on regions of Mexico I'm sure many people didn't even know about 👍👍🤯
Thanks man, the next one is also in Torreon but over the east side, very industrial and residential! Definitely very few will know about that!
Beautiful production and thank you for sharing the experiences with the rest of the world always proud of my roots !!!
Greetings friend, Torreón is intersting and beautiful 😍
That was an amazing travel, i like when you visit places and you talk about you feel walking around them, i didn't know torreon has a big Cristo it looks awesome, have a nice day david ✌🏻
gracias amigo, yeah I love the Christ! Really impressive!
I'm happy to see clear sky with no pollution!
WHAT! Brand new information! Farmacias Guadalajara will always be my favorite!
Hey my friend regards from Mainz Germany, I'm coming to Torreon next week and have some amazing Gorditas! 👏♥️
David, you are already a Lagunero, mate. Thank you for showing the nicest side of OUR City. Also, you need to go to "Flor de Jimulco" is a Natural reservation, 40 minutes from Gomez
thanks for the recommendation man, I have a busy week over the next week but we'll see. Next videos from Parras and Viesca
Soy laguber gracias x su vicuta a nuestra bella ciudad torreon.coahuila 😊❤🎉

Gracias Denizee!
I always watch your videos, specially when they are about Torreón, I love the way you describe the city. Blessings my friend.
I am a Star Trek geek, Khan!!! so glad you showed that, Ricardo Montalban also was famous for the series Fantasy Island, I also love the new series "Strange New Worlds", I don't know how I missed this video on the 7th but thankfully seeing it now.
I remember Fantasy Island! CLASSIC!
Thank you for sharing my home place was born in 1982 in torreon Mexico parents migrated 1988 to los angeles California and I live in Arizona now hope to one day go back to visit thanks again I love it
Hi you have to visit Cuatrocienegas, especially Rio mezquites, poza azul and Las Playitas. Hoping in your next visit You can go to these places!
David! My kids and I were watching your video 😂😂😂 we just saw my sister , nephews and nieces at 9:16 - 9:20 walking in front of you.
Crazy!
I really like your videos about torreon, I was twice there. And I plan to go there twice this year again.
Welcome back my real “lagunero” buddy!! Enjoy the City and your favorites “gorditas de asado”.
Thanks! Asado! I haven't had any yet!
Asado is "Carne de puerco, papas and chile colorado". You ate this kind of gorditas in your last video in Gomez and here.
Hi David! It's a pleasure to find your channel 👏🏻 showing and appreciating my hometown, Torreón. I miss my beautiful city ❤️ I really hope whenever you return you feel at home! Saludos.
Great job you did , thank you !!
Fantasy Island!
Yeah!!
I forgot to mention that!
The opener was top top bro!! Also, I wish I could have been there to watch you on that stage Mz Lawerence. I feel like Mexico is a part of you now whether you like it or not. And while I am with you on corn versus flour tortillas, las Gorditas de harina are BANGING. OH, and nice rrs. xx
I have to be admit, harina has grown on me, particularly with burritos. Gorditas for me must always be corn! SURPRISED. I really miss the beef in Chihuahua xx
I thought I'd filmed the falling up the stairs and hitting my head on the pole bit lol
Great video…as usual…love your videos
For future tourists of this beautiful city.
I currently live in Torreon and for those who enjoy hiking in the mountains, there is a place called the Torreon Heliport, which is the highest mountain point that can be reached in our region.
If you want help to go through it, just contact me, I do not charge you anything.
Gracias por el tour ,!!! De la comarca lagunera!!!👍🥳
Welcome back!!!
Torreón te ama❤️
Thanks for your video
Cómo extraño a mi torreón 🥀🥀❤️❤️
Your lucky David.Very nice.!!!
Love the travel vids!
Dear David thank you very much, for making such an excepcional of my city I hope the weather treated you well
Que lindo video!!! Linda mi ciudad
I had no idea Ricardo Montalban was from the same city as me you just blew my mind!
I wouldn't have known either if someone hadn't send me a link about it! I think he moved from CDMX to Torreon as a late teen but I could be mistaken
@@davidostrowski679 he moved here in his early childhood I think.

Hello friend, i really like your content and the way you talk about my home place im really glad about it wish i could meet you some day and give a gift as a "memento" of this place greetings sir you are amazing :D
Damn David, I had to move out for job reasons a month ago, and I see this video and it makes me feel so home sick, even tho it’s only been one month, but it really made me miss a lot my city, thank you for this amazing videos of my city and put it on the map, everyone should see it as you see it. Thank you very much, for me these videos are touching and have a great place in me
Saludos my friend Thank you for these awesome videos
You're very welcome amigo! Another 4 to come from this region!
Abrazos. Contacta a alejandro
"And look at that, it's Jesus !! "
Great and thanks for the video and laughs David.
I think I had the same reaction last year LOL
