Ironically that gal is probably more happy right now than a lot of wealthy people.
I would love to hear more videos where people live on low incomes. I find it very inspiring also😊

Me, too!

It's difficult
She's never been married? She must be the smartest woman on the planet.
My dad had a secretary for 30 years. The same woman. She was older and matronly and never married, no kids. We found out after she retired at age 65, she started traveling the word and livin it up ! Good for her
There is nothing wrong with marriage…my husband gave me a nice home and the ability to stay home with my children, worked hard to pay for my college and the children’s college/ trade school. And gave me companionship, support, I have never mowed a lawn, nor painted a room, nor taken a car for service. He died of a work related disease, left me comfortable income and insurance wise. I miss him every day…what’s wrong with having a husband…how is it smart to not have one ( or to have one).
@@virginialangford6257I'm so sorry you lost Your Husband and also he was your best friend. I've been married 36 years and I couldn't imagine not having love in my life. He's also a best friend, and always provided financial and loving home for me and my Daughter. Sending Prayers and Love to you from Florida 💕🙏✨🌺
@virginialangford6257 Wow! You had a fantastic husband! Sounds like he treated you like a queen! You are so lucky! You hit the jackpot! I'm sure he's reaping his rewards in Heaven as we speak! He deserves them! But unfortunately, not everybody is so lucky. Thank your lucky stars to have had a husband who was indeed the way he was supposed to be (but not many are).
Yes you are very fortunate and lucky! Wish I had the same, but my ex husband left us when my daughter was only 12 years old. He was bi-polar and didn't want to accept that announcement from his doctors, so off he went and reinvented himself.
That woman is commendable! She is living proof of the saying, "Where there's a will, there's a way." God bless her 🙏👍
I had a friend live with us for 6 months while she saved up for an apt. She worked full time and I had worked with her before and I knew her and trusted her. I only charged $100 a month. That pretty much was the money for extra electric, water and when I cooked the evening family meal I provided that. She bought her own breakfast and lunches. It was fun having her around for those 6 months. 😊
May I move in with you? I can clean too
Thank you for helping her. Many need it, few offer.

We all may have to if inflation and shrinkflation keep going up and up !!
You are a true friend, bless you!
Her lifestyle isn’t for everyone but she shows it can be done. She lives “outside the box”
Very true
Oh I know it can be done I do similar daily
From my long time experience, I know that church employees are often left out of annual budgets. They work for years without raises while those in leadership get cost of living increases.
I'm happy that this woman is doing well, but I hope that the church will make a way to increase her salary and benefits so that she can retire with dignity.
I work in a church as a side hustle so it’s only part time but they gave me a 1$ raise after a year, a lot was due to my supervisor pushing for it but they agreed so there wasn’t much pushback.
Wonderful
...."she loves her life", a gift I wish for all of us.💜
My grandmother used to always say, "It's not what you make, it's what you keep." This lady's story is a good example of that. I really like the low income videos...this is a lot of what's happening in America right now. :) Janet
So true!
I watched a video here on RUclips awhile back. This man had a corporate job and was paid well but very very stressful. So he quit that job and became a bagger at a grocery store. Got a teeny apt and rode his bike back and forth. He was single and seemed to be very happy.
Very interesting
I did something similar on a smaller scale. I had an office job in the medical field, incredibly stressful and I was physically ill going into work everyday. I quit and got a job as a custodian, I took a 2$ hour pay cut but to me it was worth it because I was no longer stressed out and then a year later covid happened so I’m glad I wasn’t caught up working at the hospital anymore during that chaos. Needless to say I’m much happier and adjusted what I needed to as far as finances.
I remember that vid!
Props to her for living on a low income and doing it well. Definitely not something everyone could do. Although since she has no spouse or kids, she doesn’t need life insurance as that’s meant if somebody relies on you for income. Would love to hear more stories about how people live on a smaller income. 💕
I agree
I would love to hear more more about people living on low incomes
Yes, yes, yes! I want more information on low income living. I know someone living on $800 SSI who is unable to work. Within the next year or two, he will be homeless. We are bringing my 92-year-old sister-in-law to live with us and possibly my 90-year-old mother. Our plates are full, but I'd like some community input on government benefits or anything that can help him. I can share more info if needed. Great video about an amazing woman making it work. Love to all, Linda 💕
May I post this question on my community tab?
If there is a senior center nearby let someone working there know what going they may have contacts with programs regarding housing they may be able to help him.
@@tracymorgan5386 Thank you!
@@CentsibleLivingWithMoneyMom Yes.
That is her RICH life. We live on a low income in California. The key is to be debt free!! 😊😊
To me it’s shocking that she’s not considered poverty level. How tragic.
Thank you for sharing this story - it always makes me grateful for my life.
Sounds like she has a cozy life. I envision her as a 70's secretary-like woman who wears a red skirt, opens mail, types, and pours coffee into cups & serves cake.
Wow. I had the same thoughts 👍🏻😃
@@cjhoward409 Yes, she does give that impression.
She wears skirts
It would be good to have more videos on how people can live off a low income. It may give people ideas and help others.
Okay, noted
I would love to hear more stories as on low income people as well. I am trying to leave an abusive relationship before the end of the year... Iwill be living on less than she does and love to hear stories on ideas I can use to do it, thank you!
I wish you the best
First, find a place to store food and start going to food pantries.
Prayers for you.
First go to a good shelter you won’t need to save up a certain amount to leave you can leave much quicker and under no circumstances( be careful of blurting things out in an argument)that you are leaving( they say the most dangerous time for a abuse victim is when they leave the relationship) wait until you are sure he is out of the house for work, hours long fishing etc then you leave and make sure you have everything that’s important to gone with you so you don’t have to come back. If you need to come back do it with police protection. I don’t mean to go on & be dramatic but doing things that way is very important and most safe for you.
@@CentsibleLivingWithMoneyMom Thank you!
I hope your friend considers Mint Mobile - I'm sure they have a limitless data plan that is less than $50/month. Also, she would be eligible for food stamps and other government benefits, also for discounted 'senior' prices. Some places give 'Senior' discounts at age 55 and up. A side hustle, or house/petcare at the person's house may bring in money as well.
I pay $15 a month on Mint Mobile I think there's an even cheaper plan!
She makes the best out of her situation and I admire that.
yes yes yes I am VERY interested in learning how people with low incomes do it.
Thanks to your friend for her willingness to share her story. She perhaps qualifies for SNAP,
which would help her food budget. It sounds as though she is managing her resources and enjoying her simple lifestyle. Blessings to her.
If her income is over $1133 she probably will not qualify for snap which in many cases is not right!
The income limit can depend on the rent. There is an exception in the formula for those paying high rent with a slightly higher income limit. 🏡
Yes, you are right
I did not know this
Or if she does qualify, she might only receive a tiny amount of foodstamps each month.
My sister lives on that too. She owns her own home and grows most of her own food, she’s doing well too,
Yes I would like to hear more about how people live on a low income. Inspiring.
Good for her!! If she is happy that is great!! The older I get; the less I need. Great video!!
You are so kind
Your friend is amazing. Also, that’s a sweet deal on her apartment.
I was paying 3 times as much, 35 years ago in West Nashville! 😂 That's an incredible deal.
I think so too!
YES to more vids about people living on a small income 😊
Love to hear more on folks living on a small income. Thank you 🙏
You got it!
I love that she is content with her life. That’s what it’s all about. ❤. Also, as note that is why it’s so important to give at your church, especially the small churches. We served small churches and they could only afford to pay so much to their employees. Some of them were barely bringing in enough money from their church members to cover the upkeep of the property and a modest salary for the pastor, much less support staff like nursery workers or custodians. So when you give, you are helping the church to pay the support staff too.
This church is small
Excellent Video! Very Inspiring! It is great to hear this story. I have a Friend who lives off of 5k a year, He rents a room, Is very careful with what he buys, Does not own a car and still gets by and is a very happy person. Its not how much money you have or what your able to buy. It's all about attitude. If your miserable getting more money will just amplify that misery. But if you are a happy person on any income level that's what important, Happiness and appreciation for what you have. What does everyone else think. Is Attitude as important as i say it is!
That doesn’t sound like thriving to me. They should be paying her the minimum wage
Minimum wage in Texas is $7.25 an hour.
Minimum wage in Nebraska was $7.25. $9.00 an hour was voted in, last November, but if the employer still is at a certain amount of employees, They still pay $7.25. Rents here are over $1800.00 A month and we Don't have manufacturing jobs or high pay jobs except Union Pacific railroad, but they are laying off so we just have piddly service and hospitality jobs.
The lady is thriving because she is happy and content.
@@LM-my1ss
And grateful. He is providing for her needs, though housing should be 25%, not 33% imho.
I agree. Sadly, I feel the Church is taking advantage of her. Shame on them..😌

Yes! More videos like this, please. Keep up the great work!
Thanks! Will do!
Yes, more videos like this. I am inspired by this lady.
I hope all your family is well after the devastating storm that rolled through our part of Texas. My daughter is without power which has made me thankful for that Jackery I bought at black Friday prices with an Amazon discount to boot. She ran her fridge on it last night for 9 hours and still had 44 percent power left this morning. I would not advocate for a Jackery, but I sure felt blessed to have had it last night for her. It was all I could afford after the Valentines Day Freeze of 2021. Say a prayer for the Texans down here as the flooding up above me is considered old news in comparison to the Houston area plight, however more people did have additional flooding just as they were starting to clean up. More rain coming this afternoon, but hopefully no major downpours. Blessed is being able to afford electricity and the power switch working when you flip it on.
We are safe. Thank you much

Regarding when to take social security maybe a call could be placed to an aging agency It is illegal for anyone from the Social Security office to give information that sounds like advice. Everyone's situation is unique.
Excellent video. There are lots of people in this situation who seem to be thriving.
My first job : .50 cents / hour. I'm a person that has worked my way up one promotion at a time...always had my eye on that next step, and still do.
Please qualify low income. I'm at 45,000 annually. This has become a challenge because of the cost of EVERYTHING. Honestly, this is the worst I've experienced. A simple example, one product I buy, and I'm very careful and frugal,...but cottage cheese. Until yesterday, it was steady @ 1.98. Great Value house brand, small container. In one day it went up to 2.24.
The war we are fighting as consumers are in stores....for FOOD and I believe this will get worse.
I cut more and more out and I'm packing my Prep Pantry because I'm preparing for worse days ahead.
For many people you are considered well-to-do financially.. Thousands of people live on under $25,000..Folks might wonder what on earth you spend money on...not asking, just saying....
For sure! We like Hellmans light mayo. Used to get it for 2.50. Now it’s almost $7! That’s crazy!!
Cottage cheese on sale in Canada if you can get it is 3.98$ for a tub, small.
If this woman makes $8 an hour …that equates to about $16,000 a year if she works 40 hrs a week.
@joycef8443 yes about $1,250 mo..leaves $400 discretionary. We don't know her age, but at least $4,000 annual in savings is possible...if she is OK with being so frugal.THAT BEING SAID...She is an example of how it can be done. Some people live in their van, live at home, caretaker a family member
Thanks! I love to hear about how others live on a very low income. I always learn something! I do wonder why she has a life insurance policy if she is single with no children? And I'm guessing the $16,000 income is gross - not net?
Single. No children
Maybe someone sold her on the idea of whole life insurance and maybe she has one of those plans? If you really need the money you can get up to 50% while you're alive and then you're beneficiaries would be getting last month when you die.
She may need it for burial expenses.
Yes gross, but at that income, taxes are very low
@@annakraft4850 Good point!
Wonderful video. This person clearly knows the difference between wants and needs.
When you have to one can find away. It can be frustrating at first. I came from nothing to spoiled and now to in the middle.
Curious. Why would a single person need life insurance?
I'm single I have life insurance because my children will have to bury me someday
@@kathyb8540Well that makes sense , but Dawn mentioned she had no kids.
But, she might have siblings, and other close relatives.
I'm single and childless. I ditched my life insurance years ago when I realized there is no one who would need to rely on what I could leave them. (My family can afford to bury me, or use what what is in my accounts for that purpose.)
With no dependents, life insurance isn't needed

Wow, thank you
I'd certainly rather rent a room if it came to that than try to live in a car or RV, especially as a woman; no way no how would I want to do that unless I was ex-military or had a ton of DIY skills. More power to those gals who truly can take care of themselves out on the road or off the grid, I guess. You can certainly be content and fill your daily life with things and people that mean something to you in your own part of the world. I often think of my own grandmothers, who never learned to drive and managed to have full lives. Yes, they both had husbands, kids, grandkids and hobbies (sewing) so I know they had enough to keep themselves busy, and both would get out and walk and had a grocery, post office, and library close by in their old neighborhoods.
This lady would qualify for a free phone, phone service and internet service all found on the internet, as well as Farmers Market vouchers, available through Senior Centers/Meals On Wheels office. Depending upon age, bus passes are available in most towns. Some qualify for reduced utility rates as well reduced property taxes. Generallly, if one qualifies for reduced water/drain bills, one will also qualify for reduced electricity and gas. Proof of income is required for reduced water bill, and where I live City Hall notifies gas and electric companies. Low income people may also qualfy for reduced price garbage collection.
She doesn't have utility expense but you're advice might be really good for someone else Reading the comments.
I understood that your friend does not have to pay ulilities, but many people do. Also, many of those on SS and Disability often live on far less than your friend. And, not everyone is aware of discounts, or things such as having a house phone for less sthan $10.00 a month which allows one to call all over the US and Canada included in basic monthly rate. One does have to purchase a router, used is about $20.00, obviously a one time purchase, but worth it.
I’d like to hear more..
Oh I wish she lived in my small town, I would introduce her to my very reasonable landlady, I have a 2 bedroom 2 story duplex with water and garbage pickup and yard service included for $675 month, my highest gas bill for heat and cooking this winter was $56 and there are jobs here and they all pay way higher than that, prayers for her 🙏our town has a food pantry that serves free hot meals twice daily during the week and supper on the weekends and a semi truck comes to town every Wednesday and distributes very nice food to anyone who wants it.

If you don't mind, would you allow Money Mom to do a video explaining how you do it? You can remain anonymous. I think it would be so helpful! 🦋
I’m disabled and If I figured out what I get by the hour it’s closer to $6.00 per hour. Don't qualify for any kind of additional government assistance. Because I owe my house outright. So I can't get any utility deductions because I don't pay rent or a house payment.
Oh wow
That's a shame.
Has she considered retirement? Given that social security is set to pay only a portion out when retired, what would she do if she was retired and her housing situation fell through, or her expenses became more costly simply due to inflation. Things beyond her control?
She seems to be living in the “now” and not planning for the future. It is fine living on nothing, but it is a bit ingenuous when taxpayers will need to support her in the future. Why live this way when there are all kinds of jobs available? Some of us have been living like this, but are saving our extra money. We sacrifice now so that we aren’t a burden in the future. Then we are seen as being “rich” so more taxes are taken. My taxes keep going up the more and harder I work. It is exhausting to try to get ahead.
Excellent point

Is there a reason she can’t earn more? She can get other help. There has to be more to this story. The last thing a single woman needs is life insurance! Better to pre pay for a funeral of some kind with that money.
When I retired I had a $50,000 life insurance policy for $5 a month from my former employer.when I turned 65, the policy went down to $2,000.
Better to donate your body to science rather than an expensive funeral.
