Congratulations to Mr. Bob on the D8. Anyone still working like he does 72 deserves whatever toy they want. Hope he gets to Poosh up everything he wants with it!! 🚜🚜🚜
Who doesn't have things we don't need. Why shouldn't you have it! You have a need or a want go for it. Dad deserves for all the years of farming and working. Good for him.
People with a post war Oliver in the shed! My kind of people. Incredible pile of iron. very tough machine. I've enjoyed watching some Australian brothers recently with 2 - 3 D11 bullies. They cut a fresh trail uphill in loose rocky soil with those big machines. The D8 is a very practical bulldozer and by no means too big. Strange that others see what you have and agonise over your fortunes. I'd like to muck about driving that D8N but the reality is the entire job is big. Oil, fuel tracks about the work area, gateways, blind spot, housing the machine from weather, the wear that gradually happens just everything. I just trust you'll enjoy it more than you swear about it and that the work gets done properly. Beaut machine boys.
Don't sweat the haters fellas, livestock on the farm or not busy or quiet Winters or not everybody knows the time is limited on a farm doesn't matter what Enterprise you're in there never seems to be enough hours in a day. I don't be graduate that big machine at all if you get your work done faster get that ground ready to plant go for it. It's probably always somebody out there that would buy it when you're done with it. Make good use of it enjoy it looks like an awesome piece of equipment!
Brian congratulations on your new purchase. Least you'll have it when you need it. Lol!! Your Dad seems right at home, definitely shows. Lol!! I'll catchya at the next one. Stay safe!!
The D8 may be the most versatile machine Cat ever made. I've seen them on everything from heavy grubbing to finish work. You will be selling that 750 soon.
Definitely seems like a pretty cool toy to have around and I agree wholeheartedly your dad has worked his whole life if he wants a toy whether it's a d8 or a Corvette let the man get it. Secondly it is a very useful tool to have around even if you're not using it on a daily or even a regular basis because now if you get something stuck you have a large piece of equipment that is very capable of probably getting it out with that winch.
My dad is also 72 who has been running his 60 milking cow dairy farm since he was 17 when my grandfather passed away.. Farming is in there blood and what keeps them going.. 👍
D10 my favorite, but second is the D8. Mainly cuz the jobs they can do. Sure the 10 is plenty maneuverable, but there is ground that just won't hold the weight!
Yet again, something I'd like to borrow for a couple days. It will serve you well for years to come. My guess, it will save you dollars over the long haul... not to mention, the smile on Dad's face is timeless.
I've never run a Cat D8; but I've been fortunate enough to run D9's & a D10. My wildest dozer experience was when I ran a side-by-side (2 D9's, master a slave dozers); that thing had the biggest blade I've ever seen on a dozer. I don't remember the actual size now, but I felt like I could clear a football field in two runs. Thanks for stimulating some great memories.
California Farmer has a D11 which they were DEEP ripping (9' deep). Zac, Randy & Trevor said they thought it was a house moving across the field. All I can say in response to yours is: Cool Beans!
There is no greater joy that push dirt with a big Cat. At least for me! I bought an older D7G with a winch and a stump splitter a few years ago. Paid for itself on the very first job. Had a pile of brush and root wads about as big as the shop you guys wanna build. I did it in three days, I got a quote of $60k or more from two local guys to do the work. Most fun I’ve had with my clothes on!
In the 70s when they had price controls on beef the only way I survived I had enough land I just took all the cattle off the feedlots and turn them loose in the feels and we just rode the storm out I was in a position to do that Grace and peace van
Big dozers work great for farms because of the amount of work you can do in less time than smaller machines. I have a D7 and I use it less than 150 hours a year and I haven't had to do much under carriage work to it.
Awesome D8. I spent several years in the heavy highway industry and these machines are true workhorses. I am looking forward to seeing more of your D8 in upcoming videos. I hope you all enjoy operating this fantastic machine.
You should get old conveyor belt for driving dozer over roads we used it on concrete when we did maintenance on D11 never marked the concrete. Just a suggestion from Australia. Thanks for your video's, kept me sane during lockdowns.
Congratulations Bob, I just got my peterbilt back from the doctor today and the hp we have back from the cat under the hood is great. Power is great!!!
Like you Bob, my grandpa bought an Allis HD16 , same size as a D7, when he was about 80. Ran dozers pulling scrapers in the 1950's, and wanted one of his own.
Nice tidy cat for its age she's a real beauty, perfect for the farm, they hard to come by here in Australia and pricey, grate to see ya all enjoying the fun
Thing gets the job done for sure and glad the bossman has his D8, other people go to the bingo, anyways thanks for the video greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
I like your analogy Brian. Your dad is 72 and can do what he wants with his own money. I decided I wanted a new outboard motor to replace my 1976 that was giving me major issues. I'm 68 and I could afford it, so I did!
I say the same thing when people question why I have a fendt with a 125K forestry tiller on the back. Well I don't have a motorhome to a cottage at the lake
Mr Bob, my kind of birthday present!!!! Our toys just get bigger with age. Very nice. Enjoy!!! Ya need a few more acres to clear!!!! Enjoy the channel.
Good for Dad. I am older than your Dad, Worked for the railway operated some pretty big machines, but I always wanted to operate a Dozer but never got the chance.
congrats on the dozer... I'm always glad to see some new equipment. and really glad to see a BFV , every night I see a new one on RUclips I save it for the very last video of everything I watch, because I know its going to be a good one.
Bobs big toy dozer should be the name for it. Dozer's, excavators, skid loaders, haul trucks, Etc are all tools on a farm. it's either pay someone to do the work or do it yourself. A D8 will come in handy for sure!
Congrats on your D8 purchase. I don't know who had the biggest smile, Bob or his two sons. Good luck with your addition to future dirt work. Big Dawg or Ole Yeller for a name
Your dad certainly looked like a kid at Christmas. Didn’t think he would give that seat up to anyone.
It’s very nice to see you happy mr Brown. When life pushed you, you bought a D8 and pushed back. Great to see 👍
I'd rather have a D8 instead of a corvette too, and I'm not nearly 72. Great video Brian. Congrats to your Dad, and Happy Birthday.
Watching Bob Brown, in his element, is a great time. He's the man!!
Your dad is so happy, made me smile all day. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching

Brian congratulations on your new purchase. Least you'll have it when you need it. Lol!! Your Dad seems right at home, definitely shows. Lol!! I'll catchya at the next one. Stay safe!!
@BJ. That's a gift that keeps on giving all year long.
I made transmission and hydraulics for Cat for 43 years. I hope you got some of mine. Bob is a happy man.
Nice classic Dozer and your dad is right to have any thing he wants if he can afford it
Big bad Bob and his mighty D-8! Ya gotta love it! The smile on his face says it all.
For a name, well you have one cat named Squishie, so the other cat should be named Pushie! Have fun with the dozer! Great video! Thanks
Very good 😂
The D8 may be the most versatile machine Cat ever made. I've seen them on everything from heavy grubbing to finish work. You will be selling that 750 soon.
Totally agree with you Mike, after 50 years operating, my favorite dreams at night are Dozer, Scraper, and Excavator!
The smile says it all. Congratulations Bob

Your dad made it so he can spend it on what ever he wants
Looks like he is really enjoying it
Dad looks happier than a pig in doo, doo. He knows, either go big or go home. So jealous.
I learned a long time ago Dad can have whatever he wants, I’m 61 my pops has been gone 22 years wish he was still here to have whatever he wanted.
I'm happy for you! Get R Done!!
Hey your Dad has worked hard his whole life and if buying a D8 makes him happy then that is all that counts
The D8 is a game changer. Lots of tree line to remove. She will pay for her self fast!
My dad is also 72 who has been running his 60 milking cow dairy farm since he was 17 when my grandfather passed away.. Farming is in there blood and what keeps them going.. 👍
You got lucky your dad gave up the seat that quick ,loved seeing his face light up .
Fun to see how happy your dad was with his new Tonka toy! Boys and their toys!
Your dad is awesome bought himself a new toy. You boys are lucky to have a great dad like him.
Old Draper belts are also a good way for crossing dozers over asphalt!.
D10 my favorite, but second is the D8.
Mainly cuz the jobs they can do. Sure the 10 is plenty maneuverable, but there is ground that just won't hold the weight!
Bob is on Cloud 9. So happy for him and the farm!

Yet again, something I'd like to borrow for a couple days. It will serve you well for years to come. My guess, it will save you dollars over the long haul... not to mention, the smile on Dad's face is timeless.

The one I operate back in the day had a pony motor ! Wow 😲 I’m old.🤣
