Well it's been about 5years now since he recorded this masterpiece, and I have yet to see anyone anywhere and here on YT that can sing in both man and woman's register. The world is still waiting for any singer that thinks they can do this.....The obvious conclusion is that Marcelito is in a world class by himself way above all other professional singers. There is no one else on the planet that can do this. Marcelito is a true special gift for us to enjoy. One in billons of people.
You'll be surprise, that in the Philippines that talent that you have seen from Marcelito is just a common fun-sing in the Philippines back in the 90's or 80's, it called Doble-Kara (or double kareoke). And there's a lot of singer who can sing like Marcelito did. Unfortunately, in the 90's social media is not yet born or internet is just booming. It so happen that Marcelito was in the right time for the world to know. cheers!

When he did this he couldn't speak either English or Italian. So he had no idea what he was singing. He was homeless from age 7 to age 24. He literally sang for his food. I've been listening to him for about 4 years now.

growing up in the Philippines, i remember during the 80s there's always singing contest in every town (small or big production) that is why we have great singers like him.
"Double Kara" was the title of the singing contest that has the same concept, and was popular on Philippine noontime show back in the 80s.

Talent Ladies! Love, Love your reaction! Gifted with an Angelic Voice ha? I'm a die hard Fan and he also my Countrymen. I'm not a professional Singer but I Love to sing. I saw him at his Concert in June 2019 here in Canada and he's a very humble Talented Singer. Too bad, PANDEMIC happens and all his scheduled Concerts back here and in USA were cancelled and/or hopefully just Postponed. He's well-Loved all over the World.

I’ve watched some reaction videos of this performance, so essentially, Marcelito is in his highest head voice. When he goes to his lower register, that is way deep into his chest voice. Switching is hard.
I (as a female) usually sound more like you’d think I’d sound singing-in my higher register of mix and head. But I can also sing lower, which again, I sing in my chest voice, and force my larynx lower than normal (still in a healthy way though.) I could technically sing “The Prayer” like Marcelito does, just using more chest voice, as opposed to him using more head voice. It can be very technically challenging to switch for songs like this one especially. The number of times he switches, and how quickly he switches, because if you think of the logistics, you’re moving your larynx pretty far up, then pretty far down. Anyways, I’m only in high school, I only sing for fun, so don’t quote me on this.

What I am finding most amazing is he is singing this in two languages neither of which are his own language, actually I don't know what language they speek in the Philippines but a lot of folks said neither English or Italian were one of them.. This and the fact that for the most part he had no formal training and was also an orphan living on the streets of the Philippines for most if not all of his childhood. This is truly a gift he was blessed with. Really enjoyed your reaction to this gifted young man.

Marcelito Pomoy is a treasure of the Philippines that needs to be shared to the world. He's truly unbelievable and unreal. He's incredible. What is more amazing is the fact that he never ever had a real training in singing, he's self-taught. After AGT he had so many upcoming concerts in Asia, Canada, Australia and USA but because of pandemic it was postponed. Please check out his amazing performances in AGT The Champions edition. Not bad for a guy that at the age of 7 was living on the streets in the Philippines making a dollar a day to feed himself....Never took a singing lesson--completely self taught. Singing this live on air while sitting at the mic on a moving. TALENT...JUST PURE TALENT. I lived in the Philippines in the late 70's and loved watching local's singing in night clubs in Angeles City.

(For info) I'll explain how he manages to do his two fantastic voices, it's both simple for him and even sitting and complicated for everyone, because he has lived in the street since the age of 7 years abandoned in the philippine and as he praised his two singers he sang his for 26 years lol and one day he brought the two voices together quite naturally because he has the voice of the head and the voice of the chest in him which is rare .. and these are his singles for him, he sings it forever and his own that he has been spotted cool .. and since his world stars and even his two great singers have also met in complete privacy but its i can't talk about it ok cool i'm 40 years old and i know some things i can't talk about but it's cool ....

In case you do not know about Marcelito's difficult life. Marcelito's father was incarcerated and his mother abandoned him on the streets and homeless at age 7. The streets were cruel and he was a child dealing with it. When he was afraid, he would sing to comfort himself. He also sang to the chickens when he would clean out their coups for a small amount of money. Yet, he remained a sweet, kind and loving person. He is so humble and, I believe that what makes him so incredible is not just his beautiful voice but, that he touches people's souls. The Prayer, his most famous song, reflects his life - asking God to give him a save place to be. Marcelito is a true inspiration and it is a miracle that he, as a child, survived what most adults wouldn't have. He has had NO vocal training. He is truly an angel on earth.

During my tour in the Navy back in 77' Port of call was the Philippines. Bands that played the clubs just did not play covers, they all mimicked the bands they were playing. One club had a band that played the entire "Boston" album as it was recorded as it had just come out like fire. You name it they played it as close as they could get it. The rock band Journey found Arnel there as his gift was being able to sing like Steve Perry. To which they toured with him & cut albums.
