October 1982 iron maiden opened up for Judas Priest in Rochester New York. Number of the beast and screaming for vengeance tour. Was 15 and it was my first concert ever. I still have the Maiden concert pin, says 'made in England' on the back! I went there for Judas Priest, but iron maiden blew my mind. Both fans were just incredible, looking back at it now, they were both at their absolute peak in my opinion. Not that they dropped off after that, but I believe those albums were one of the best albums for each band. Also looking back at it now, it's shocking that iron maiden was still opening up for anyone. Those guys weren't that much older than I was at the time! Another thing, we didn't have much information back then so I didn't even know they were British, either band. And strangely enough, no matter what someone's home language is, when they sing English, they all sound American. Was a very strange thing that I have asked speech pathologist about, and they and never even thought about it or heard about it before.
That’s powerful , shaped you for life . I think my third concert ever was iron maiden coney Hatch , for the piece of mind tour . Was in the front row and my ears rang for nearly a week . May still have the piece of mind concert shirt
Interesting I was just thinking about the different versions of English with an accent...and how every region has accents...from Boston to brooklyn, from Texas to Australia...from Tennessee to the San Fernando Valley..from Canada..Ay to Oshkosh bygosh😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
My favorite channel!
Maiden was one of these bands that I was like: “Holly shit! I am a Maiden fan!” There was a certain pride being 14-15ish. I had that first feeling of pride when I bought Rush, moving pictures as a 11, 12ish year old. I can’t explain but as I think about it I equate the feeling as being “Woke.” My friends, not all of them but most were stuck in the pop radio rotation. I would spend hours in the record store flipping through Maiden which took me to WASP, Priest, Saxon, all things metal!
I was telling a friend about your channel and one of the things I told him is that your channel is like a time machine because I find myself looking back in time and reliving my youth because I inevitably am reminded of something from my youth. I think of a concert that I went to, or something I did that involved music. I was blessed that I love music and understand the history of music and the importance of music in a normal healthy childhood, and throughout adulthood.
I love this channel! If you are reading my comment and you haven’t subscribed yet, or hit like, please do! If you’re new watching this channel, I promise you that you can watch for hours on end, and you will be transported listening to the stories this man tells! Fantastic work as always, sir!
Iron Maiden is an awakening and coming out of the intellectual metal closet .
Wow - you don't know how valuable that feedback is to me. Sometimes we get into something, and it just flows, but to really understand kind folks like yourself coming in and really expressing the effect is extremely motivational. I really really appreciate that so much man!!!
This is awesome Jimmy! Always loved the band, their music, Riggs’ artwork, their cool videos, Eddie merch, experiencing their EPIC live shows… an inspiration for playing guitar… Maiden is a lifestyle. They are absolute LEGENDS!
Up the irons!!! 🍻🤘😈🤘🍻
Thanks Ed!!! Haha I knew maiden would be right up your alley 🤘🤘
So glad to have experienced the awesome genre of music from the 80's
Rip Paul
they did everything right at the perfect time
I had been listening to the first 2 albums every day for a few months when this came out, very influential record to say the least. One of the best.
I became a Maiden fan after listening to "The Number of th Beast" album💪🔥🤟
Dude , one of my favorite bands , Excellent !!!
30 minutes TIL MIDNIGHT!
Hi
Aces Hi ✋😉🎸
great video!
I'm a newer Maiden fan, my taste when I was younger was at first The Who, and then Yes and Rush. I didn't start listening to Maiden until about 10 years ago and the only songs I knew were the two big ones on this album. So looking at it from the mid-2000s I have to say that their best albums are the seventh son and power slave. Follow closely by brave New world.
I think people overrate this album because of the two or three huge hits and how this album projected them two new heights.
Great documentary!!
Thank you! 🙏
Great band
I prefer American Hardcore Punk at this time of 1982👊🏴☠️
I love Maiden too though🤘
who cares about terrified parents my mom likes IroN MaideN and has a huge studio album collection while i own their boxset cd studio collection as well tons of cd and lp bootlegs of 1977 to 1993 and thats it nothing after these years. my most expensive bootlegs on vinyl are shrine of luzifer which is west germany 1984 as well christmas wish bootleg which shows the piece of mind cover in yellow and the pink cover album which shows the first eddie on the lp cover. i noticed some of their bootleg art doesnt go with their tour year for bootleg lp's such as raiders of the lost rock which shows the hover car and somewhere in time eddie for the bootleg cover lp.
Paul was it! He had it then lost it, that is a shame in its own. While landing a great new singer or a great new band depending on who's shoes your in. Two steps forward and one step back is how I view it. Number Of The Beast was far from a failure but it wasn't as great as Piece Of Mind or Powerslave nor Iron Maiden or Killers but that's just my opinion. Up the Irons!
Slumber Of The Beast. The most overrated Maiden album ever released. Gangland? Invaders? Why didn't Total Eclipse make the album or replace either one of those 2 horrible songs. The prisoner? The block of overrated cheese that is Run To The Hills? A benchmark? Oh...you Mean Piece Of Mind? Powerslave? Somewhere In Time was and will forever be the absolute peak of Maiden, they're equivalent to Metallica's Master Of Puppets. Number Of The Beast is just not that good Children Of The Damned, Total Eclipse, 22 Acacia Avenue and Hallowed Be Thy Name are the only songs that saved that album...the truth hurts. Killers blows it away. After Somewhere In Time though it was all downhill. We won't even talk about Seventh Synth.
