Marnie honey, your channel is changing my life - honestly! About 2 weeks ago I suddenly felt 100yrs old (we're the same age, but I've never worn a scrap of makeup or skincare) and stumbled across your channel - now my entire family (including german homestay students and brazilian boarder all watch along with me. I am learning so much about being a woman from you, and I feel so much happier too.
Of course I feel a bit odd watching and can't help but have stages where I think 'damn my life is so boring and plain in comparision' but you're inspiring me to action... my husband loves you for it... he even watched the 'newly wed' video and mentioned he'd taken to heart Michael's advice about sometimes just letting your wife vent! Big hugs and thanks for being you!

What a beautiful resort, gorgeous scenery, the fountain on the trail was really neat & loved the Indian ceremony! My goodness, you all were high up, it was almost making me dizzy looking down! lol It was so sweet of Jake & Michael offering to help you up the so-called stairs. The trail, walking in the forest is like my happy place as well. I have never been in a so called forest, but I used to walk for miles in the woods, take the trails, just get lost in mother nature. It was great to see a "Real Family Vacation" everyone looked like they thoroughly enjoyed themselves, you did a lot of great things, activities, great adventure & with teenagers, I can imagine that can be tough to do, everyone happy! lol Thanks for sharing your vacation with us, really enjoyed.
Michael and Marnie, great vlog. Nice to see you guys enjoying your vacation time together as a family. Hope this is not the last vacation of the year. Thanks for taking us along with you.

Beautiful!! My family and I spent a couple of nights at that Hyatt last year on our way hone from Sedona. Arizona. I also spent my high-school years in Albuquerque and most of my free time during ski season as a junior ski patrol on Sandia Peak. It is such a beautiful place to visit and I'm so happy you all enjoyed your time there so much. Thanks for sharing!! That was a bit of walk down memory lane for me. :)

Yey, you guys were in my neighborhood! My husband and I love Tamaya's porch for date nights! I get nauseous looking over the top of our mountain too. Esp with all our little girls wanting to run right to the edge. Great vlog! Fun to see our city from someone on vacation's perspective.

I used to work @ Crown Casino in Melbourne as a machine attendant. There wasn't a day or night working there that you didn't come home reeking of smoke, thankfully they are all smoke free zones now, makes it much more pleasant I must say!

Fun watching all of you. Funny, as we are going to Palm Springs next week with my two boys. I am totally doing the empty suitcase-shopping thing LOL! Priceless! Also love the extras for your morning cup of Joe. There's a nice Westin in Palm Springs. Resorts are cheap in the summer-this is why we are going now. Save a few hundred a night at Rancho Del Las Palmss Resort and Spa. I'm even more excited after seeing your vacation-thank you!

I thoroughly enjoyed this, Marnie, thanks for sharing. My jaw dropped when you mentioned DOOR COUNTY! That is our happy place - spending summers there when we retire is a real goal of ours. I always think that others who love it like we do have exceptional taste ;)
John Waldron How about Door County Coffee? That's the best! I went up there every summer as a kid and Michael's family had a place in Egg Harbor-it's a magical place!

Fun family trip! If you're looking to go to Palm Springs, check out the Omni Rancho Las Palmas. It's a great place to stay and we love it there.
You're right about Palm Springs~not much to do there and it's horribly hot in the summer!

Hey Marnie, your family is beautiful! I loved your vlog. Our trip to Texas is finally upon us this week, coming from Toronto. Can't wait to hit the local Walmart and head to the hotel room, for fun memories, it will be just me my hubby and my 16 year old boy. My eldest who is turning 20 this month is now working and doesn't come along with us anymore😢I sure miss those times, cherish every moment, with your boys. :))
Missing my home...New Mexico & Albuquerque! Always wondered about Tamaya...haven't been there. Will at least get to spend some time in Taos at the end of the month. Thanks for this.
Marnie, could there be a hidden hiker in you? You seemed to really enjoy the hike & to be at peace in the outdoors! Palm Springs is a great choice for a winter vacation, and the aerial tramway is a must do. Lots of spa & pampering opps,in Palm Springs, for you, while Michael is golfing.

palm springs is great... there is an amazing shopping outlet with major brands. beautiful mid-century architecture, vintage shopping, and joshua tree for adventures with the kids.
You even look great in a cycle helmet! Great vlog and I'm only a bit jealous as our weather is bad today. I wish I could say just once this year that it's too hot!

If you go to Palm Springs, definitely take a day trip out to Joshua Tree. Such a beautiful national park.

Jillluvslife I don't know if we "prefer" them, but they're definitely a brand we enjoy, along with Westin/Starwood Resorts.
When Shane called you woman I about died. Shane and my son are a month apart. My son Rob says that all the time. Glad I'm not the only one :P and Jake trying to help you up the stairs so sweet aren't boys the best! Loved your video you are very blessed to have such an amazing family!
I've heard New Mexico is beautiful! Nice vlog of your trip. Have You guys been to Hawaii. We go almost every year. Our favorite island is Kauai. We just got back a week ago. Our daughter, husband and grandkids also went. If you like relaxation, you guys will love it. I live about 2 hours from Palm Springs and we do weekends there a couple of times a year, but you're right not a lot to do except for golfing.

What a fun time!!! If you go to PS be sure and visit "The Living Desert" also if you do a meet up, I'd love to go. I'm in Eagle Rock, which is about 1.5 hrs from Palm Springs. Might make it a getaway to Palm Springs for my family and me.
Palm Springs is awesome. Go to the consignment shops where the rich ladies sell their things!
Marnie, Palm Springs is nice in the winter! Summer there is soooo hot - like 110 degrees plus!!! I live near Los Angeles (about 2 hours from there) & visit quite often (in the spring, fall & winter). Of course, hotel rates are ridiculously high in the winter:( Lots of snowbirds during the winter so they make prices go way up. IF you go, y'all should definitely eat at "Sherman's". It's a great Jewish deli & a VERY popular restaurant. Also, another great deli in Palm Desert (next city over) is "Manhattan Deli."

I had suggested El Bruno's when you first said you were coming here, but I guess you went with the popular choice of Sadie's -YUCK! I've never had a good experience there and don't get why people like it so much! Sorry you didn't experience great NM cuisine.

They hung out with us, rode bikes, worked out, went to the pool, played chess, ate...lots of fun stuff!

I bring groceries every time I stay in a hotel state side with no shame. I've been to Vegas hotels with cases of beer and handles of vodka w/ mixers. I travelled from the Mexican border to Canada with a cooler and brought it to every hotel along the way. I've driven from east coast to west several times w/ a car loaded w/ food and brought tons of stuff to my room. Many times, I've even had the bell hops load the food onto the cart and bring it to the room. I've never been stopped or questioned. Is this a faux pas I'm unaware of? Have I just gotten lucky? Regardless, it's such a good idea to save $$ and to get some healthy options :).
Marnie Once you have TexMex it's difficult to find good Mexican food in other states! I'm in CO and everything is drenched in green chile 😓😷😡
The food in New Mexico isn't Mexican, it'sNew Mexican - big difference!

We also buy snacks for the hotel and carry it to the room like it's no one business. #noshame room service adds up fast!!
I did not understand why they felt they had to sneak it in. We always take drinks, snacks, food whatever in our room. It is ours. It isn't like taking food into a movie.

We always liked Garcias better than sadies :) they are all throughout the city - that casino is always to smokey!! Crazy I lived the 14 years & don't miss a thing from there lol nothing has changed since we left 2 years ago glad u enjoyed it :)

Hey Marnie, may I ask you: I know you love your dogs, and they are real family members for you. So how do you organize it when you are on vacations? Do you have friends who take care of them? Or a dog sitter? Thank you, your advice would be really helpful for me, because I trust your opinion.
zahnpastacremetube We board them at a local kennel that they really love. It's like a vacation for them. There's a beach, indoor/outdoor runs with grass, air conditioning, beds, etc.

Assuming the romantic restaurant you were planning on going is more of a fine dining place, aren't most of those closed on Mondays?
Eleonore Bon Yes, but this is a restaurant in the hotel, and the hotel is not near anything else really, so I'm kind of surprised that during their high season they would have a restaurant not available for their guests.

You should have gone to eat at El Pinto. Sadies can get really cheesy/greasy and to me is not the best representation of New Mexican food. You gotta order enchiladas with the chile, but get a side of sour cream to tame the heat just In case it is a little too hot.

Confused on why you are "smuggling" items in ....I've never had a hotel care about what we bring in. We usually have a cooler full of ice and drinks and all. Actually, we pull up to the hotel and have the porter take it so we don't haul it.
Next time you go to New Mexico you should go to Santa Fe.
