@S Mavi actually the strawberry itself is the inflated flower stem. The little "seeds" are the fruits. So not really fused together, but still on the same strawberry
Please try a savory (ish) banana. It's called "saba". In the Philippines, we have to cook it with sugar so it tastes like, well, banana-ey. We also add it to savory soups to give a subtle sweetness. It has a super hard skin and you have to cut it with a knife.
@Anelle Savares I've had sweet kashmiri banana and creamy Keralan plantain dishes before but I wasn't thinking of either when I posted that. Just of how savoury banana could fit into a dish with, say, coconut milk and cinnamon leaves.
If you had asked me before the video what they looked like based on the thumbnail, I would have been legit flummoxed Edit- it kinda skirts trypophobia-inducing, doesn't it?
talking about freaky banana, there's one freaky banana that native to Papua island in Indonesia, it's a giant banana, Musa Ingens. The tree can grow up to 25 meter high and have 2 meter diameter at the bottom. The fruit itself can grow more than 20 cm long. They can harvest up to 60 kg of banana from 1 tree. Unfortunately, it's quite hard to find outside Papua.
So cool they are almost grafted together over time of growing. Also my eyes lit up when you said Miami fruit! I bought some cacao pods from them. Small world!
The best way to tell if a banana, or almost any fruit, is ripe, is by smell. A ripe banana should have a rich, mellow, sweet smell, not the slightly acrid, green smell of an unripe banana. It’s not wrong to say you can judge by softness, except that some banana varieties are softer than others when ripe. So it takes experience with the particular variety. If you have one of the firm varieties, it will never get as soft (before it rots) as one of the softer varieties.
I love the fact we can be so passionate by something like fruit, its juste so humble and calm. The opposite would be something like sex and politics...

So it's a fruit consisting of several smaller fruits stuck together to form a larger fruit, like the ananas/pineappple but with bananas? I'll call it a banananas
Could you review a bunch of random common fruit, and versions of those fruit that you think would be a better replacement? I had this idea for a while and wanted to tell you :)
Well if all else fails and you accidentally peel an adjoining banana, chop it up and freeze it for smoothies/shakes! =) EDIT: OH! My exotic fruit order is due to arrive tomorrow and I have the Daca/red banana to try! I also have two dried varieties to try, one is "apple banana" and the other I can't remember ^-^'
I really appreciate your videos and your presentation skills. Have for a long time. Was excited to see this review since I know your opinion on cavendishes so well : P This type of banana sounds lovely, let the hunt begin; thank you for all the work you do in opening the world up to new and tasty experiences through entertaining education complete with laughter and temptations to explore.
Prayer Hands might be my new favorite fruit, the way you described it. Also I mentioned it in the comments of another video months ago, but the Louisiana Strawberry Fest in April 12-14
Weird Explorer: “You got to separate these carefully, one by one, so you don’t rip the peel on the next banana and end up having to eat more than on…” Me: “Time for banana bread and banana nut muffins!”
I've had some of those tiny bananas right off a tree I was trimming in florida. Just some random cross breed that tasted like clover flowers and tea. Next one I had? Like smooth dirt. THey vary SO SO much lol.
I live in NC by the outer banks and worked on a house for a woman who grew some of these. No fruits while I was there but the flowers had a nectar that tasted exactly like banana laffy taffy
In indonesia they call it "kepok" banana If you get the unripe you have to steam it Or if you wanna get more sweety taste you can dry it like raisin But you have to cut the banana into 2 part And then dry it using sun it takes about 3 days (5 days to gain more sweetines) And fry it Feel the sensation 😁 Sweets like a dates fruit
In Java different banana for different purposes. This one is for boiled banana with the skin. Whatever the food is always boiled with the skin. The BLUE JAVA banana on your other video are very good for fried banana.
Looked like a catchers mit. I had these the other day. I got mine from my local supermarket in a small town in texas. My daughter loves them. Your shirt is freaking awesome btw.
This is..I guess I have a new channel to explore. I wasn’t expecting to be watching a fruit channel of all things but thanks for the content mate, you present the fruits well.
I was thinking if you accidentally rip the peel, you can just use a spoon to scoop the next banana out. That way you're only eating 2 instead of the whole "hand" in one sitting.
Sweet? I thought plantains were like banana potatoes. Effectively like potatoes but shaped like bananas. I didn't know you could cook sweetness into them.
@@Bubu567 I mean, they're sweet when they're ripe like any fruit, you just don't eat them as is. You cut them into slices, not vertically but horizontally at an angle, and then fry them so you make fried plantains. In spanish you can also call them amarillos which basically translates to yellows. They're also used to make other foods. They're very soft and sweet when done right.
in my country we called it กล้วยเทพพนม but I think it might native to archipelago of southeast asia but it also fine in many many part of Thailand too we usually cook the same way as the Silver Bluggoe or with out cooking.
VERY... The way these bananas look make me so uncomfortable that it's hard for me not to look away. I don't get why. I know it's not rational, there's no reason why they should repulse me this way, But they do 🤷 especially the picture of the sliced piece from the woman. Just Ugh!
Wow, that’s incredible! Reminds me of how pineapples are; a huge cluster of berries which are fused together.
Interesting...thx..
Well ya, very literally similar as bananas are berries and these are fairly fused. 🤣
PINEAPPLE ARE WHAT???!???
@S Mavi and raspberries
@S Mavi actually the strawberry itself is the inflated flower stem. The little "seeds" are the fruits. So not really fused together, but still on the same strawberry
Convenient that they ripen from the outside in rather than the other way around. :)
You could have one per day and not worry about them going bad!
Good point! That's basically what i did too, though after a few days the center caught up with the rest
@@WeirdExplorer how long have you been vegan for?
@@joeblowjo I think he has said that he's been vegetarian for the majority of his life. I could be wrong though.
I imagine it's due to surface area allowing for less release of ethylene.
What a beautiful baseball glove

"Banana-ey"! I love that! In my mind, I'm pronouncing it like you would say "kawaii".
@@TheCatAteMyShoe That's how I say it in my mind too! It's the only way XD
Oh wow, that sounds like a very interesting curry ingredient or similar.
@@spicefreak4726 what's the dish called? It could be the same

Bruh that banana saw what the pineapple did and was like "ooo lemme try that!"
let’s hope watermelons don’t see what’s going on
That thumbnail is... Unsettling.
If you had asked me before the video what they looked like based on the thumbnail, I would have been legit flummoxed

Count Meowt I can see it, doesn’t really trigger it for me, but I’ve mostly gotten over trypophobia over the years.
The shirt tho: "I eat your skin"
i am dead from laughter
Looks like a Baseballglove to my Grandson! Lol!😂 Thanks for the Video. Keep up the great Work!👍
That's a great description! thanks
Dip it in batter and deep fry it. Tasty snack.
Pazham Pori!!
This banana is grown here in the Philippines although rarely. Its local name is "inabaniko" which translates to "fan-like."
The banana reviews just keep coming.
there's one more coming in a couple weeks :)
A Trypophobia nightmare
He’s going bananas
I don't understand why we have 10 variety of apples in every grocery store, but only 1 or 2 variety of bananas.
apples are easy to transport. Most bananas are not
In the Philippines, there's an urban legend that says, if you eat a pair of bananas that got stuck together, your children would be a twin.
The ripeness thing is a plus. You could have more days to eat them as you worked from outer edges.
yep exactly
Can't help but keep seeing it as a form of banana deformity...
pudding.. good. custard... good. bananas.. good. 😯 i want pudding custardy bananas! i really think i might have to try these now.
Joey is that you?😂
Mmmm banana custard? Oh man, my boyfriend would LOVE to have these!

I think if I remember people solve the peel problem by just eating them with a bunch of other people. Just expect to eat the whole thing at once.
oh that was so satisfying to watch you peel it :)

I found it in the Seychelles :) video coming in a few months
Okay but it looks more like a baseball mit than praying hands 😅
The sound of him separating the bananas at 2:55 was very satisfying. Like banana ASMR.
I considered making a 2 hour video of pulling bananas apart and tapping on them.

The ones towards the middle are probably stiffer because of slower ripening from not having as much exposure to oxygen
