I've never seen fries cooked from room temp oil. How long did it take for oil to get hot and start "frying"?

I just started doing it this way and it takes about 15 minutes or so to start frying. Really depends how much oil is in the pan but again 15-20minutes is what I’ve been seeing and about 25 minutes in total till complete
