    The quality of your videos is so much better than most other bigger videography channels… I’m so happy I discovered you early - keep up the awesome work and I think it’s only a matter of time before you’re huge 🙌🏻

    I totally fully agree with your assessment of native vs adapted lenses. I've found that myself on my G7 and now GH5.

    excellent explanations and video as usual 👍
    The large selection of great lenses on m43 is really nice. I've been (re-)discovering the pancake lenses which have a great appeal, especially the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 - I wish they would bring out a redesigned PRO version of that lens. I also think that Panasonic should go all in on converters and create a high-quality L-mount to m43 speedbooster as well as a m43 to L-mount converter to make switching systems more appealing. Ahhh... wishful thinking... so many (missed?) opportunities.

      Great to see you back in the comments again, thank you! Shooting with these tiny pancake lenses must be a joy indeed. I haven't tried them personally so far but if I can get my hands on one of them, I'll definitely have some fun! There's definitely still a lot of potential for MFT and I hope that they don't just throw all of that away.

    You were so precise throughout the video. Yet at 14:50... Please! If you calculate focal range eqivalent by multiplying by crop factor, multiply also the f-stop. With Lumix 12-35mm f/2.8 you get 24-70mm f/5.6 FF equivalent.

    • @ValentinKossenko
      @ValentinKossenko  4 года назад +1

      You are absolutely right and I noticed that I didn't add the FF EQ f-stop for the 12-35mm f/2.8 there after I had already uploaded the video. It is in fact f/2.8 in terms of light gathering but f/5.6 in terms of FF EQ DoF so you're right here! Thank you for pointing that out, Paweł!

    Brilliant video. Exactly what I was looking for. I have the GH5 with some native and adapted lenses but I'm debating going to FF a Panasonic S1/S5 to get the most of my FF glass. Keep you the great work mate.

      Thanks for your feedback, appreciate it. I dig the full frame look and think the S5 is a great camera for the price too. Can't wait to see what the GH6 will have to offer!

    Having used M4/3 system for about 10 yrs I now have GH5 (mostly for Video) and G9 (mostly for Photos).
    I have a mixture of lenses: 6 Pan/Leica, 6 other brand M4/3 and 4 EF mount (plus a Viltrox ef m2 ii) oh and 2 converted Olympus OM Zuiko!
    The EF mount and Converted Olympus lenses are only for Video.
    The Pan/Leica are only for Photos (except the Nocticron 42.5 of course)
    The other M4/3 lenses are hybrid mix:
    Laowa 7.5mm f2.0, Laowa 10mm f2.0, Samyang 12mm f2.0, Sigma 16mm f1.4, 7Artisans 35mm f0.95 and Sirui 35mm Anamorphic.
    I think I should stop already!

    Not particularily interested in this specific topic, but watched a couple of your other videos now, wanted to comment about more general stuff and can as well do it on your latest video. Most of the stuff I already knew from other videos regarding that topic, but there were a few new things as well. I think you mentioned tubeBuddy at some point, which is a really cool tool. While the free version is limited, it already shows a couple of cool things like tags other videos used and it allows to retoactively apply end screens (copy an end screen from one video over to others). But that acutally brings me to the question: What do you think about end screens? You are using them, but I also saw some "big" videos, which didn't. Also another thing I'd like to know your opnion about: What about going dual language on one channel? Maybe you know the overclocker der8auer - this guy always releases an english and german version of his videos simultaneously. Do you think it hurts the algorythm to do so? Otherwise it might actually be a nice idea to widen the audience. You do the research once and make 2 videos out of it. Thought about doing so on my review channel, as I then it would also be more interesting for related pages to be posted there. It is however still a ton of work (in my case I would need to do the translation of the script, record another 20-30 mins of voiceovers and adjust the editing) but...maybe its worth the price? Would also be quite interesting in such dual video-scenarios to actually see which video does better, as you usually dont have an authentic 1 to 1 comparison.

      Hey Kordanor, thanks for writing all of that down!
      Let's talk about end screens first. I think that they're very useful to guide your viewers through more videos from you. The algorithm works pretty well when it comes to choosing the right videos for your viewers too. I'm not using them in my short films or b-roll videos because they would take away from the experience but try to include them in every other video to drive more traffic to my channel.
      Dual language has some benefits but is still pretty time consuming. I would definitely create separate channels for each language though because I think it will be better for the algorithm. Looking at iPhonedo for example, he's doing a pretty good job with English and Turkish videos effectively reducing research time in half just like you've said. If you can manage that and still produce enough content for both channels, I'd definitely go for that. I personally don't have enough time to do both English and German videos because I am still studying and working most of my time. When I changed my channel language from German to English, I noticed a huge jump in views, because I was able to talk to a much bigger audience than before. Now I got people from the US, Canada, Australia, UK, Germany and many other countries watching my videos, which is pretty awesome.
      If you still have any further questions, please let me know!

      Thanks! I used the 42.5mm f/1.2 Nocticron lens and Natural (-5, -5, -5, 0, 0) picture profile on the Lumix GH5 and shot everything in 4K 10 bit 4:2:2 there.

    If you use a focal reducer with a factor of 0.71 and an FF lens of 55mm (e.g, an old M42 lens), it is effectively 55 x 2 x 0.71 = 78mm on the micro 4/3rds system.

    • @ValentinKossenko
      @ValentinKossenko  3 года назад

      This is right and the exact calculation I am using in the video too.

  • @bluecollar8525
    @bluecollar8525 2 года назад

    I thought you don't account for crop factor in f-stop calculation, because f-stop is already light per unit of area. Since cropping reduces both area and light in equal proportion, then f-top is only affected by the speed booster, by concentrating light in the same area, but not by crop factor. You end up with a faster effective lens.

    • @ValentinKossenko
      @ValentinKossenko  2 года назад

      Yes, you do get more light output, but in terms of full frame equivalent depth of field, your f-stop will be multiplied by the crop factor. That basically means that a f1.7 lens on MFT will produce the same amount of background blur as a f3.4 lens on FF if you have the same composition on both cameras and lenses. Hope that makes sense!
