And the a good portion of the rest that survived, the ones that refuse to assimilate, are killing themselves with liquor and drugs. It's kind of been down hill since the colonization for them. What has the aboriginal community contributed to science and medicine since the colonization, or even before that really? They still hadn't invented the wheel 1300 years after rome fell. In the context of all conquests, and the British empire, and the Catholic church, the aboriginals are lucky to still be alive. And what have they done, minus a couple here and there, to contribute to our heritage since the colonization? Are they planning on reserving victim status for the rest of eternity, or are they going to come to terms with reality? The Canadian government can't help people who don't want to help themselves. This so-called apartheid is just enabling this really sad "culture" that we have now. The Indian act needs to be torched. As our Glorious Leader would say, "It's the current year".
