You smashed it Mary!!! It’s funny hearing you say that I was motivating you from the other side of the world because I too felt that I had to be kept accountable… it wouldn’t look very good if I slacked on training when you were going all out! So glad you found the week motivating and a big confidence boost, can’t wait to see what you do in the Bangkok Mara! 😆
Thanks Phily! And thanks so much for being such an integral part of the vid. Would love to do more with you guys in the future. The feedback has already been amazing so it clearly works 😊 thanks for being such a legend 🤟🏼
Good to see Mary adapt so quickly to double days and 6 training days in the week. In our experience double days and minimal rest days gave the biggest boost in fitness. As well as elites like Philly, many club runners train like that. We still like to work on those principles despite, like yourselves, both having busy teaching jobs. We think Mary will see a super fitness boost leading up to her marathon. Well done.
@@ThisMessyHappy thanks, first run back yesterday and things are looking positive. Achilles injuries are always a difficult one to know when to return. At least I’ve got experience, keeping it moving with low intensity and regular heel raises seems to be the key
Well done Mary! Impressive to mirror Phily so closely. Also discovered Phily through Jog On Harry and been watching her ever since. I've been watching mess-hap videos for a couple of years and this is maybe my favourite.
Mary’s always such a happy bouncy person, it’s always hard to see the training effort almost suck the fun out of what you enjoy.. but to see the smile back after that finale early run 🙌🏼 My body just can’t handle massive training efforts, probably because I’m doing it wrong I must admit, I’ve been trying to do a lot of base low heart rate runs in recently trying to get back that back bone to the harder stuff as I have my first trail marathon, and mountain marathon in Snowdon this July.. and have just managed to do my first 50 min 10k at the vitality London 10k, and I have even more respect for the people who do it faster.. and do all that training.. Well done for surviving it 👍🏼😀
Great effort Mary! I have no doubt you will absolutely smash it at the Bangkok marathon 💪💪 I love Phily ever since watching an interview she did with Harry Morgan (Jog On). She’s hilarious and also a brilliant runner. So many great You Tubers out there!
Great job Mary!!!!!!!! Awesome content as always. Please bring back Balcony Talk and Car Talk. It's always so entertaining. You guys are so inspiring and my wife and I relate so much to you too.
Ha ha don’t worry, it will be back. We’ve got some racing etc coming up and it’s great to have a good old car chat or bal-car-ny chat afterwards 😂 Thanks Mike 😊
Love it. Really interested to see how Mary got on with doubles alongside work. As a teacher myself (currently watching this instead of marking) I realise how hard this must have been. Mucho respect!
Oh wow, Mary. I just watched your video of you bqing in Thailand and then I see this. Just like what you said there at the very end, you decided to train like an elite, so therefore, you killed it in Bangkok. You're phenomenal! Congratulations 🎉🙌
Great video Ben and Mary. I really like how you are connecting us watchers with more runners on RUclips. I just started watching Philly Bowden a few weeks ago and I love her videos. I also liked getting a glimpse of her overall training. There are some definite take away lessons from this block. On the sidelines right now as far as running goes. I did something to my make and running doesn't make it happy.
What a fantastic video guys! Loved every second of it! I have it first hand living with Phily and I can confirm her mentality is relentless 😅 Mary you absolutely smashed this week of training and cannot wait to see you run in Bangkok! Ps maybe an in person collaboration in the future who knows 😊
Thanks Daniel! Yes I can tell you have to be super driven at the pointy end, I love seeing it! And thanks to you and Phily as well. Your YT vids are great (I can see we watch the same channels 😂). In person collab would be amazing! UK AND Thailand I’m assuming? 😉😂
Two my faves 💕 I loved this video. It was inspiring to see you getting it done around a busy full-time job, and being so enthused. One takeaway for me is that it’s not just me who finds it hard to get out the door sometimes, but that when we do we never regret it. Well done Mary, and I hope this gives Phily’s subscriber numbers a boost as her vids are great too.
Thanks so much Brioni. Yes you’re right. I had exactly the same feeling with a swim yesterday and bike today but I loved it when I finished. More power to us that make it happen 💪🏻😊
There has to be something in this double run day thing. So many top athletes of all ages use it to bag miles and not kill their legs. I did it a few weeks back for the first time, dreading it, but loved the second run and found it easier than i thought i would.
Well done Mary! When you subscribed to this plan with only one rest day per three weeks my joints immediately began to ache! I’ve started including a double run day in my week and my body is letting me know it’s not happy. BRING ON THE ICE BATHS!!! 😂 Seriously though only one rest day per three weeks seems a bit dangerous.
Hey guys! Love the video. Just noticed an increase in treadmill training on your Instagram and videos etc. Just wondering what’s pushed you to do more on the treadmill? I love treadmill running but always feel guilty for not going outside all the time!! Thanks
Hey Sophie. Thanks so much! Treadmill is really just because if you run after about 7am it’s hotter than the surface of the sun so the treadmill is a good option to allow a lie in. Or like yesterday when it rained (it rains hard here!) 😊
โห ระดับนักกีฬาอาชีพ ซ้อมหนักมากๆจริงๆ มีวันหยุดแค่ 1 วันใน 3 อาทิตย์และตารางโหดมากๆเลย Oh, professional athlete Practice really hard. There is only 1 day off in 3 weeks and the schedule is very brutal.
Nice vlog. Just a small input. The Video does not show that pro athlete's Training does not just incorporate runs in divers intensities. There's much more work sorrounding the runs. Strength workouts, mobility exercising and stretchings.
Great video and well done to Mary for completing the week. I would be interested in your comparison between Ben’s week of early mornings and Mary’s. It seems as though Mary was up at 5am for a number of mornings but was better able to complete her workouts. Was she getting to bed earlier to keep her usual sleep quantity, an effect due to a less physical job (though intense in different ways), the motivation of Philly, or something else? Thanks for the videos
It wasn’t really about seeing results though. It was about sharing how elites train and learning some bits for ourselves. Maybe some new, fresh approaches 😊
" Or your just intrested how an elite runner trains." Fisrt of all, every elite runners train differently. Some train very similarly to others, some train very differently.

Hey Phily, today you came up as a friend suggestion on Facebook.
She seems so positive and happy about this challenge. Maybe I need to stop whining so much and enjoy my workouts more, 😂
Good to see Mary adapt so quickly to double days and 6 training days in the week.

Great video guys. Love phily’s channel and you’re right, such a lovely person 💙
Thanks Chris. Yes she’s a legend 🤟🏼 Hope you’re ok and speedy injury recovery 😊
@@ThisMessyHappy thanks, first run back yesterday and things are looking positive. Achilles injuries are always a difficult one to know when to return. At least I’ve got experience, keeping it moving with low intensity and regular heel raises seems to be the key
What an insight into an elite runners shedule and so impressed with Mary's attitude and progress. Thanks guys.
Funny. I found Phily's channel the other day and now the 2nd RUclipsr showing her. She seems an awesome down to earth person.
Thanks Alan. Yes she’s definitely one of the good ones! 😊
Well done Mary! Impressive to mirror Phily so closely. Also discovered Phily through Jog On Harry and been watching her ever since. I've been watching mess-hap videos for a couple of years and this is maybe my favourite.
That’s high praise indeed, Richard. Thanks so much 😊
I would love to even be in shape enough to run with Philly Bowden. I love following her on RUclips.
The only way I could keep up with Phily is if she had two broken legs and was in a full body cast. Even then, I'd struggle. 😆
Mary’s always such a happy bouncy person, it’s always hard to see the training effort almost suck the fun out of what you enjoy.. but to see the smile back after that finale early run 🙌🏼

Thanks so much and well done on your achievements too! Good luck for the marathons, the ultimate test but so much fun 😊
Great effort Mary! I have no doubt you will absolutely smash it at the Bangkok marathon 💪💪 I love Phily ever since watching an interview she did with Harry Morgan (Jog On). She’s hilarious and also a brilliant runner. So many great You Tubers out there!
Thanks Christina! Very kind, as always! 😊
The body remembers effort! I really love this quote ❤️ as it definitely helps and puts a different perspective on things! Great video both 👍
Thanks Gavin. Yes it’s so true. Can’t remember where I heard it but I love it too. 😊
Great job Mary!!!!!!!! Awesome content as always. Please bring back Balcony Talk and Car Talk. It's always so entertaining. You guys are so inspiring and my wife and I relate so much to you too.

I've just discovered Philiy's channel, and have bingeing her content (I should probably have been running instead). Thanks for doing the collab.
Ha ha cheers Larry. Yes it’s great stuff on her channel 😊
Off we go: hills training on a rainy night in Putney. Top motivation seeing Mary smashing it 💪
You guys are great ❤
Love it. Really interested to see how Mary got on with doubles alongside work. As a teacher myself (currently watching this instead of marking) I realise how hard this must have been. Mucho respect!
Thanks so much! Yessss another teacher in the house!! 😂 then you know “the tiredness” ha ha
What’s marking? 😉😂
Awesome Job! Very inspiring! I just ran my second 10 k race today!
Oh wow, Mary. I just watched your video of you bqing in Thailand and then I see this. Just like what you said there at the very end, you decided to train like an elite, so therefore, you killed it in Bangkok. You're phenomenal! Congratulations 🎉🙌
Really great video,so interesting, Phil you are ELITE in every respect, athlete, person, inspirational. The very best to you.

Fantastic video, inspiring!
Mary seems like a lovely soul.
Yeah she’s ok I guess 😉😂 thank you 😊
Awesome Mary and so many positive vibes
I used to run 12 minute miles a year ago.. 4 miles tops. Just ran 16 miles this past Sunday at 8:10 pace. Trying to be at 7:00 by next year.
Mary inspired by Phily = Me inspired by Mary. Loved this.

Well done Mary. You made it look easy. Nice to see how much we can all fo more. 👍👍😃
This is true. Thanks Mark. We definitely learnt a lot about ourselves this week! Mary in particular 💪🏻😊
Great work Mary Onwards and Upwards !!... PS I'm way older than than pair of you - but we all know the basics/ listen you your body... and enjoy!!

Outstanding Mary well done another excellent video guys very motivating 👍
A great video guys ! Fantastic work from Mary giving it a great effort this week . ❤ #fastlikephily
Love both channels so always good to see a crossover. ❤️

Your best ever video. Loved it. Love both channels. Can't wait till Paula Radcliffe shows up on a vlog.😀
This is a fabulous video. Really inspiring - thank you Mary 🙌 Double run days...🤔
very interesting
Keep up the great work

Cool episode!!!!
Thank you 😊
I would not have considered Mary as 'amateur'. Maybe not 'elite', but certainly very experienced and impressive!
Brilliant video, well done Mary. Feeling very inspired to up my own efforts!
Thank you, Ashling! That’s so kind 😊

Well done Mary, fantastic week of training.
Did you make changes to your nutrition and recovery protocols with the extra sessions ?
Wow Mary xx
i run 17:25 a 5k my dad doesn't want me to be a runner he calls me a losser he doesn't allow me to train im losing my fitness level

Excellent job. What was your rest period between the track spilts?
Hey Dan, it was 200 walk for Mary and 200 slow jog for Phily 😊
you're a very good amateur runner :)
I want to do it!!!
Great video and well done to Mary for completing the week. I would be interested in your comparison between Ben’s week of early mornings and Mary’s. 8:08 What is a km repeat? And the recovery..? So running at hard effort then walk for 200m? Please clarify :) well done Mary! xx
Oh just saw the end of the exercise but I'm still not sure I understand!? Haha pardon me being slow! In more ways than one haha!
How is the marathon training going for 20 Nov?
Aerobic base I assume is Marathon Pace but what is steady here? A bit faster or a bit slower than MP? Thanks
Can you please make 2k training program. Im currently training for British army and it will be very helpful for me ❤️❤️🙏🏼
Hey buddy, I’m afraid it’s not in the current plans. I have the next few weeks and months lined up already. So sorry 😕
@@ThisMessyHappy ok no problem 😊🙏🏼
how long (time) was the rest in the 1k repeats?
What kind of treadmill is that in this video?
It’s called Endurance I think? It’s a Thai brand. But it does what we need it to do! 😂
What’s your treadmill mate?
from my point of view you both are Elite, too.
Great video! Really enjoyed it. I've never done double run days. Although I know that elites do this a lot. What are the main benefits of these?
Great video. I need a 50k training plan.
REST DAY WEEEEE 😂😂😂😂
I lIked it but grouws treadmill
Ha ha I’ll take that if that’s the only negatives you have 😂
Great video but whats up with the ski goggles of the dude?
😮😮😮🎉❤
1 week is too short to see any results tbh
It wasn’t really about seeing results though. It was about sharing how elites train and learning some bits for ourselves. Maybe some new, fresh approaches 😊
