Im so glad Nicolas Szerszen will be playing for OSU again next year. This man is an absolute monster. Also, good luck to Ben Patch in his professional career. It was so great to witness this game in person.
late response lol, but because the rest of the team is also some of the best players, and having the variety of hitters at the setters options makes it harder for the other teams blockers to get a double or triple block up, making the times they give sander the ball have a higher chance of a kill
@@Rheebssbu I feel like since Patch was injured, they didn't want to risk another injury with Patch so the coach (or coaches) didn't want Patch to get set as much.
I have never been so excited in my life watching a volleyball match. So even watching the Brazilians Superliga or the FIVB Worlds Club Final. I have fallen in love with collegiate volleyball.
Thanks for the great upload! Ohio straight crushed BYU i wish it wouldve been a closer game...Brenden Sander was struggling so much but I was happy to see Ben Patch playing confident and with a smile throughout the match. Cant wait to see where he will be playing professionally.
You simply don't know the bidding process for hosting the NCAA finals. This was awarded to Columbus 2-3 years in advance. It was just fortuitous that OSU's squad was so strong the year Columbus was hosting the final four.
Idk if it's the same as in soccer but if it is then there can be. In soccer, they ask the coaches of both teams if they want a neutral spot or home. If one says neutral and one says home then they flip a coin to see who wins. If neutral wins then obviously they'll get a place midway, if home wins they flip a coin again to see which of the two team's home they'll play in.
The over-the-net call in the second set (at 43:55) was totally appropriate. The commentator's saying "when it's close or it's nearly a joust, you 'let them play' " is the most ignorant point to make. In the replay, you can see that no part of the ball had broken the plane. What's the point in having a rule when you don't want to enforce it. In this case, it was spot-on AND the first ref caught it perfectly.
Since the setter was front row I think you let that play out. How does the blocker know he wasn't going to hit it over? The setter also wasn't in a position to set and motioned to joust, not set. Had the setter been back row you would call that for sure since he cannot attack.
No, you don't 'let it go' -- as a former ref, you need to be consistent and enforce the rules. The "let them play" adage is really most heavily used in judgment calls when it comes to set/match points. Otherwise, you do your job as a ref. To have inconsistency is an injustice to all players on the court - both teams!
Thanks for this, I was front & center in the stands and will never forget this fabulous evening. You don't happen to have the 2016 championship match available to upload do ya? I can't find it anywhere....
BYU played well, and it was an awesome match up but Ohio wanted it more, regardless BYU are the cause of their own lose here they gave Ohio the opportunity to intimidate them cause they are at home, thats why its important to note that when someone is at home their confidence will be high but u have to take it from them by pushing yourself a little further.
I'm 99% sure players in the USA team can play in colleges still, I'm not sure what patch is doing but a player like TJ defalco is still going to attend Long Beach

If you got a guy who is about to go pro, how do you not set him 75% of the time? You don't even need good passes just put it up there for him.

He's on the US olympic team.
23:10 That ball is in.
22:22 That ball is in.
Two poor calls in about 1 minute.
Nick is going to kill it on the French national team
No team should ever be home in a finals.

dfo123 I have it on DVD, which I copied from my DVR through GREX. It's good, but GREX doesn't bypass the Digi signal in Hi-Def
Where can I find the music? I wanna use it for a video I’m making for my team
does anyone know what the grey knee brace that Brenden sander is using ?
Ben Patch! Anderson's successor!
7:46 the block definetly touched that. Is that just me?
Coulda been off the net
anyone know the gray knee sleeve sander is using?
#13 is on the USA volleyball team right?
Yes, he is.

Ohio is not the same as Ohio State. I think I'll starting calling BYU simply "Young".
damn it BYU you guys need to run laps, i swear it, come on this guys didnt play a dime you just give it to them
BYU passing was JUNK! OSU definitely showed they came to win.
have u NCAA men's semifinal?
The semifinals are available at www.ncaa.com/video/volleyball-men/
i can't open and watch, because the video format
Semifinal LBSU vs BYU : ruclips.net/video/6nw6sV_aK1I/видео.html
Semifinal Hawaii vs Ohio State : ruclips.net/video/Lo4tDb8EbNM/видео.html
thank u so much
Ben Patch was healthy. Why didn’t he start? Their coach wouldn’t give straight answers when asked.
am i the only one who thinks #13 for ohio looks like a really tall dwarf?
Stop it! I see it....he just has a large head.
THAT CROWD THO
We were L.O.U.D.
31:03
54:02 “6’6 not the biggest guy in the world”. Wtf that’s tall I wish I was that tall.
for volleyball thats average to small
So, Patch is still a college player?
He plays for the USA Men's volleyball team. I think they are payed so he cannot play for a collegiate team anymore.
I'm 99% sure players in the USA team can play in colleges still, I'm not sure what patch is doing but a player like TJ defalco is still going to attend Long Beach
tenjin09 college players can play for national team. TJ Delfaco and Jeff Jendryk played for national team this summer as well
tenjin09 its fine as long as they dont get paid
BYU Should've won. But GG Ohio
Can't pass, can't kill, no defense - 0-3, "Should've"??? LOL
Asian Potato Ohio dominated. wtf are you on?
who can dunk? wich player can jump highter than 315 instead of net 245 high........dunking should be introduced to all three stepper am ster dam
all of them can dunk
Nan Lei all of them can jump well above 10ft, dunking should be no problem
Nan Lei all players at least touch like 10'10", and that French outside can touch 11'7"
great.........they can play basketball and volleyball just like Chase Buddinger
Biased commentators
im confused how?
I know. They were humping Patch's leg all night.
Paul Sunderland is a mistress of anything Pac-12. I think he creams in his pants when anything "Stanford Cardinal" is mentioned.
dwfw
Worst ref
