Honeslty I’m running out of words to say how much the nature of Iwate appeals to me.
Simply everything is beautiful.
Another thing that is fascinating now that I’m sorta binging your videos is to see the evolution of your videos.
Not your enthusiasm nor how much you enjoy sharing the beauty of north Japan, that I can say hasn’t changed, but its clear that you are putting more effort in the realisation of these videos.
They are longer, there is more music aside from the intro (wich I love btw), you include different perspectives and pov, enhanced with the use of the drone, which helps in underscoring the beauty of what is around you.
in short it’s a work of love😊
Actually yes! The trails have been repaired! I was out doing a short mountainous stretch today and it was all repaired! (I saw on facebook a bunch of trail-runners I know doing a 30km stretch.)

@@GoNorthJapan Great news! Costal trails are sometimes the best of both worlds, the sea and the land. Just an example but if one way you decide to go to Spain on holidays, in Catalonia there this three days trail called Cami de Ronda that goes up the north coast of the region and it is amazing! www.camideronda.com

Wow, another stunning location, its a shame so many paths were cut off, a true living environment. My recent coastal hikes in England had the same issue from bad storms but I'm just grateful for such amazing views. Thank you for another great video! Thanks so much for this video! I'm planning my trip for next year and am looking into the Sanriku Coast. I can't drive but taxi-ing or hiking along a section of the Coastal Trail really seems worth it to see these cliffs! xNina
Your videos have helped me a lot lately, so keep up the great work. A fun tidbit is that Hanamaki, in the Iwate Prefecture, is the sister city for where I was born and currently live which is Hot Springs, Arkansas in the US. More the reason to visit!

We are so excited- planning a trip (albeit only a week) in the Tohoku region. Shall be there April 4, 2020. Choosing where to go is hard! I’ve been to Japan several times (never north of Mito, Ibaraki) but it’s my hubby’s first visit. He chose Tohoku and I couldn’t be happier.
Sounds great! April 4th... there'll still be snow in the mountains then! Should make for some beautiful scenery in a lot of areas!
I understand you have an Airbnb room for rent in your home in Morioka. What are the chances of combining this with some guided tours to these amazing places? Just a comment regarding the long term - stating the date you visit each place might be helpful.

GoNorth Japan Madison is a wonderful city, a lot of good people up there. I love living in Chicago, but the quality of people can often leave a lot to be desired.

I swear I've googled "japan long distance trails" at *least* twice over the past couple years, but somehow failed to find out about Michinoku. immediately added to the list of thru-hikes I want to do.
It's fairly new, but I think it's been around for the 5 years at least.
@@GoNorthJapan Looks like it only opened in 2019, but had been in the works for several years before that. Regardless, it looks amazing!
Beautiful cliffs and drone footage! Do you know what destroys these trails in a typhoon? Monster waves? Mudslides caused by torrential rain? Both?
And a techinical question: sometimes your handheld camera gives good resolution footage, and sometimes it doesn't (like in the intro here, and again towards the end when you show that same path on a narrow peninsula). Why is that?
Finally, don't sweat it too much concerning the frequency of your videos you have a unique niche and we'll wait! Although I guess the algorithms might be a bit friendlier with a more regular schedule, but hey - you just do you what you can!
Definitely both, but I think for the road that was all eaten up it was landslides caused by heavy rainfall that did it, or that's what a guy from the local city hall told me.
In terms of the footage quality... yeah. I have upgraded my GoPro a couple times, but the intro footage is still old. Need to fix that soon, thanks for reminding me!

I had postpone my journey at this place several times due to costing transportation issus😭😭😭. This place is sooooo remote and only the nearby villagers known this place.

WOW! That is a gorgeous area! Kayaking would be amazing! So there is a beach down there by the falls- but that path is blocked? Will they get it cleared by spring!? I wonder would beautiful it would be in spring!
I don't know when they'll clear the path... but hopefully by next spring or summer! I haven't ever gone down far past the falls so I'm not sure about the beach. But there's definitely one in Fudai and a gravel beach in Tanohata at the Unosu Cliffs.

Thanks! Ok! I'll be sure to give that kind of information! The next video (probably) will be a winter Mt. Iwate hike that I did on November 30th.. But it was so cold my GoPro kept dying and it wouldn't work hardly at all near the summit so I'm not sure if the footage I got is enough.. . I'll try though!

Don't put yourself under pressure to pump out videos. Look at someone like Chris (Abroad in Japan) and how he does things, it's quality over quantity and you're certainly not lacking in that.
Thank you! Basically everyone says that in order to grow you need to put out a video a week. But at this point it's probably better for me to improve my editing and filming/scripting (I should start scripting instead of doing it all off the cuff) and improve quality before I worry about getting more subscribers. I'm probably already above the number of subscribers I deserve for where I'm at skill-wise.

I watch a lot of hiking and running videos and enjoy your style. Keep it up. This is not a criticism and I am not an expert on camera work, just a fan of beautiful hikes.
I find I wish I could see you moving from different angles on the trail. The extra b roll ground camera angles (leaving the camera on the ground and walking past) of some of the RUclipsr’s I watch make me feel like I’m participating more in the videos. Almost like I’m on the hike with them. Check this guy’s shots as he starts the hike.

Japan is beautiful, little things like walking through puddles and seeing people disappear in the frame add to the story.

Yes! Agreed! I love skiing and have been to GETO to ski a number of times, and also visited the onsen during the summer. That is definitely a beautiful area, thanks for suggesting a video there!

That is a great question. There doesn't seem to be a place that rents them out nearby, so it would be a challenge to arrange it, but it's not forbidden, as some guy did it and shared photos from his trip:

How much time would you allow to explore the Kitayamazaki Cliffs? Would 2 hours or so be enough?
Yeah- if you're just going to enjoy the view from the top and maybe go down to the bottom and back like I did in this video, then that should be enough time!
