I most certainly enjoy your videos, I learn, and I chuckle and in this episode I both learned that Chuck needs a bit more study and also chuckled. Our family descends from the oldest Protestant church on earth, preceding even Luther by a century. They are known as MORAVIANS, not Morovians. Just thought Chuck should know a little more about church or churches other than his own. By the way, love the wig.
~ Though it says this was published today, I swear I've seen this episode before. Or just similar to another? Hmm. Informational as always. Thanks! ,,, Nadine ~
May 24: Aldersgate Day. What is Aldersgate Day? Aldersgate Day is celebrated on May 24 (or the Sunday closest) to commemorate the day in 1738 when John Wesley experienced assurance of his salvation. John Wesley reluctantly attended a group meeting that evening on Aldersgate Street in London, United Kingdom. As he heard a reading from Luther's Preface to the Epistle to the Romans, he felt his "heart strangely warmed." Wesley wrote in his journal that at about 8:45 pm "while he was describing the change which God works in the heart through faith in Christ, I felt my heart strangely warmed. I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone for salvation; and an assurance was given me that He had taken away my sins, even mine, and saved me from the law of sin and death." Charles Wesley only a few days before had also had a conversion experience in the same place. The building where the meetings took place no longer exists. Aldersgate Street has been shortened by common Methodist usage to simply Aldersgate. The word has come to represent both the place and the experience. www.umc.org/what-we-believe/what-is-aldersgate-day
Mike Workman is alders gate a holy place for Methodist? Is there a special sabbath day that honors John Wesley, alders gate Sunday? I hear church ⛪ Methodist members claiming to be Wesley Christians, does this mean I need the teachings of John Wesley and Jesus Christ together for salvation? Every denomination has a man that becomes the center, like Joseph Smith for Mormons, Charles Russell for Jehovah witness, Ellen White for 7 day Adventist, Jacob Ammon for the Amish , and the pope for Catholics, why would the Holy Ghost, put man in the center of these churches and not Jesus Christ, especially when God says no other name will be exalted higher then his son and man’s righteousness are filthy rags to him?
Sorry Chuck, you're a little off on the birth of John Wesley. I believe the correct date is June 17, 1703. Which makes it three hundred and ten years, three months, nine days, x hours and x minutes he was born. But I really do like your videos.
I love the series. It is worth, however, noting that America was not "a new land". It was as old as any, and settled in prehistory, and Europeans settling in North America.... wasn't a bloodless affair. Not to get on an anti-America roll..... I love my country, and I know that every corner of the earth has its ugly histories. But the best way not to repeat the mistakes of the past is to remember it as it was, and I think we as a species would profit to learn from the errors of the colonial era. Sorry, didn't mean to get Super-Mega-Liberal up in here. Just sayin'. It's a very minor point though, and I love your channel and the smart, thoughtful videos to be found here.
Thanks, Chuck!

What church is this in the video... it is beautiful
Yes - and why, as I said before, is he standing in front of a window of Charles Wesley? And wearing a wig, which Charles did but John didn't?

The German missionaries who inspired John Wesley were Moravians...not Morovians.
nice catch!
Charles was older than John
