I didn't comment on that video cause I am just starting my hozier journey so it was just a really good introduction to that and I was really stunned at how complete, intense and wel thought out your analysis was! But I am so glad I started to follow you! This video has a whole different vibe, it reminds me of a Language class were everyone is contributing with their opinions after having read a text (and that was always my favorite part!) or a book club meeting! It's a real cool feeling of community

I just found you through the Unheard EP and I'm so excited to finally find someone who takes their time analysing every song, your dedication is commendable and I will always be looking forward to your interpretations now. I watched your last video and got really happy to finally find someone who is equally devastated by Through Me and somehow comforted by All things end.
One of the things I love the most about Hozier is how his songs can have multiple interpretations like my interpretation of the song Like Real People Do is different from someone else and that makes me want to explore the meanings of his songs even more.

I just wanna put this out there gurl you're literally my gateway to Hozier after watching that analysis video on his new EP I was completely blown away by the genius that is Andrew Hozier-Byrne and loved evey single thing you had to say about the songs the amount of research and just the sheer passion for art, music, literature, and poetry absolutely brilliant after that video honey I was never the same I went on to listen to all of his music (just listened to all three albums now unto his eps and singles) watched his interviews that I could find watched your analysis of Unreal Unearth and also Wasteland, Baby! and even went to do some research of my own I've been loving my journey into Hozier's work so thank you for making that video so thankful for the universe that I came across it, probably would've just went on with my life without ever truly knowing the brilliance of Hozier's music if not by you 💛

Câtâlina Teodora's comment made me feel like maybe the movement from "burn," to "flow," could also indicate a rain after a fire? Though a forest can burn to total ash, that fire does nothing to stop a flood, which could be a symbol for starting over from nothing, much like how the biblical noah and his family had to do once the arc was back on land.
I also got the feeling that All Things End was cut off before some secret, extra verse that was never written, like we left the room before the choir could finish. it reminds me of how all endings of life feel like an unsatisfying interruption. when someone dies, we are barred from learning more about them, making them laugh, hearing that last verse they wanted to play. It's like their time, even though it's up, had such infinite potential, and god has stolen that from us by making us mortal. the song goes unfinished because hozier never wrote it, never sang it. it's a journal entry that ends in the middle of a sentence, on a book we find the author collapsed over.
Music, poetry, and art are definitely the closest thing I have to a religion at this point, and were my main tethers to religion when I was a VERY catholic kid. Listening to Hozier makes me feel like I'm connecting to my irish progenitors in some way, worshipping their god, Lugh, just like they did. Hozier is 100% modern-day Lugh, for sure.

Hozier ends All Things End on the fifth of that chord, which doesn’t quite give the same feeling of rest we usually feel at the end of songs (the “floor” here is 1 and we’re finishing on 5). So it does seem like a deliberate choice of his! I feel like that could be a way of saying that all things end even if not when they’re supposed to. Like the song finished before it’s “natural end” so do things in life

I totally agree with Elliot Jorden. I feel the theme of accepting things you cannot control (specifically death) throughout the EP but I feel it strongest in “All Things End.” A theme in that song that I missed until my 253rd time (give or take a few hundred) listening to it is rebirth. Hozier uses the end of a relationship to express feelings of relief. Because their relationship ended, it allowed them to pursue happier lives. Their lives “restarted.” And because humans die, we can learn to appreciate the time we have. This song is about existentialism. The philosophy that emphasizes our existence as free agents and our ultimate death. At least that’s what it’s about it me. Finding freedom through death.

That analysis video really was fantastic! ❤ after the album comes out I’d love to hear your thoughts on how his writing about death has evolved over time, because it is so striking to me how he goes from “lay me gently in the cold dark earth” to the universe-wide “there will be darkness again” to the very present “picture the silence of a house” and “the short temporary walls at the long term cliff edge of the world”. They’re not different positions exactly, but it does feel like they’re in conversation with each other.

I'M IN THIS VIDEO AND I DIDN'T KNOW!? How long are my breaks from watching videos that I lost this one when it was dropped? It feels like a hug finally reaching its destination cause every word was the absolute truth. I keep saying it but it's only cause that's how it is: coming across this channel's one of the best things that's ever happened to me since Internet came into my hands back in the early 2000's.
Not only does your content make me feel understood, it's inspiring, it's insightful, it's smart and clever. One really cannot be a Hozier fan without having those traits and I'm all about you keeping those words close cause sometimes we need to remind ourselves that we are good and (coming from the Unknown/Nth video), since we're all the Universe experiencing itself, take them as a variant showing you how great you are!
Just keep on doing and being you, cause this really is the good and quality content that everyone should aspire to do and give in this plataform.

The thing with burn vs. flow makes me think of Heraclitus, he was a philosopher who focused his thinking on fire as an element and his most famous quote is “everything flows”. I think that might have been a reference thrown in there as well

In your Hozier video I was reminded of a horror story about this Medieval man who had this condition where he ate and ate and ate but no matter how much he ate he could never stop because he was always hungry. He ate utensils, stone, and eventually people, but he still felt hungry.

If you haven't heard of Tamino I recommend Persephone, Indigo Night, and You Don't Own Me. I HIGHLY recommend him his absolutely a pleasure to listen to, his voice is so beautiful.
