Great episode! My favorite part of having a par sheet is that it keeps you from tilting once the bullets start flying. Auctions can get hectic fast so keeping your composure is key
Love the concept of the Par Sheet. I have been auction drafting for years now with my own version of the Par Sheet, so I think it's awesome that others are drafting this way and talking about it as well.
I rank the players (usually starting from consensus rankings and then adjusting manually) and keep them in a master list, color coded by position, so I can quickly glance at clusters of positions. I draw a line every 12 players (we have a 12-man league) and give each group an alloted budget (think snake draft). I keep the "true" player tiers in my mind (this is just where experience and study comes in). After that, I'm ready to rock. The reason I group by 12, instead of tiers, is because its easier to keep the accounting when the bullets are flying. If I plan to spend $50 on a "2nd round" caliber guy, but I end up spending $55, I can quickly calculate how much I need to "borrow" from the remaining rounds. I approach it like a snake draft. I plan to get a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th round pick. The big difference is, I can move in and out of each "round" on the fly. If I decide to skip the "3rd round", I'll just shift my budget around.
just subscribed to the channel. you guys literally just started? will you be doing a video on what a nucleus is? will we get to see some of your favorite team builds?
@@paulwakefield1015 thanks for subscribing! Yes, we just started back in June. “Nucleus” is a term Mark likes to use when building your starting lineup. We can touch base on it here as we can throw it in our Q&A part of our episode for next week as we’ll be going over dynasty and keeper leagues. We like to hit on drafts we did recently, and have hit a couple episodes where we talk about drafts. Be sure to check them all out!!
Thanks Paul for subscribing! Our favorite team builds are discussed on our player strategies episodes. Be sure to check those out. We don't go over player ranking much, but do dabble into tiers a little.
A sample one yes. We did one in the episode. But we know a lot of leagues have different settings and lineups. If you give us your league settings, we’ll gladly help you!
@@AbsoluteAuctionPodcast Awesome! It's full PPR, 1 QB, 2 WR, 2 RB, 1 TE, 2 Flex, 4 points for passing TDs, but big bonuses for 100+ yard games by receivers/rbs, and 300+ yds for qb passing.
Will you guys be talking about keeper leagues? I'm curious of how to build a par sheet for this. Players go for way more than what AAV is because their keepers are cheap. Oh yeah, its a salary cap league as what you pay for the player you also have to increase their yearly value by $1 as its a $50 league with players as cheap as $0.10.
Yes, we will. However, we will always reiterate to our auction mindset of knowing your league. If you can look at the history of your drafts, this should help. AAV at this point won't help you as prices will be inflated quite a bit, if not like 50-60% on your budget on one player depending on how your leagues keeper settings are.
@@wpl8275 true, but knowing your league and setting your range of spending helps. Plus if you spend too much at one area, or are looking to spend more, you just take away from another.

Thanks, Johnathon!! Keeping composure is a HUGE key in auction drafts! Patience is your best friend…. As long as you can hold it.
Bullets fly fast at the beginning. Thanks again, Johnathon!!

Thanks, Kyle!! This is one of the best, if not the best ways to draft!!

@@tet2755 not a bad move! I like it!!
Do you guys have an excel sheet built out for a par sheet? Could be a really useful tool.
Keep it up fellas
Thanks, Pete!! It's a continuous work in progress as we go along. Learning more as we go.
This is great info!
Thanks, Lisa!! The par sheet is a must if you want to have a good guide in your auction drafts.
You guys need to get Drew Davenport on your show. Great auction content fellas.
Thanks Jay! We would love to have him on the show!

$200 budget / 5 person bench

I love how I just talked in the 3rd person at the end
We're getting better now!
