My choice was either a 4070ti new or 3090 used - I went for the 3090 because of the extra VRAM. I don't game much so VRAM is relatively more important
A week ago I bought a 3070 for 240usd, supposedly used only for 4 months in mining, seems to be in excellent condition, really happy with it. Great video too!
October 2022 was the best time to buy a used 3080 10gb in my region. While using a 3060 ti that I was lucky to even get for $620 in January 2021, I waited almost 2 years for a good deal and found a used 3080 on ebay for $450. I'd like to hear more stories of people who weren't made of money who were just trying to get a decent card - the card they were using while waiting for prices to come down, how long they had to wait, and what they finally ended up with.
The thing that needs to happen but we all know it won't is the new price tags need to adjust back to prices more correctly to what would be properly adjusted for inflation amounts.
It’s good to see some improvement still in GPU prices for gamers 👍💪🥳🥰! We’ve had a rough few years and the budget end is looking really good for upgrades or new to pc builders 👍😇.
I feel good about the Strix 3080 12GB EVA Edition I just got for $650 CDN which is about $475 US. The lowest 10GB version I could find was $50 more and it was a lower end model anyway.

Has it been mined on, has it been altered in any way, has the fan curve been changed, undervolted, overclocked, how many hours has it been running, at what temperature, was it a gaming card, if so, was it running at 90% for hours every day. So many questions + no warranty, yea for me to be ok with all that I need a BIG discount, like 50%. If the discount is only 20% I would rather have the ability to just return it. Used cars depreciate 50% the moment you drive them off the lot, for me GPU's are the same.

May i speak from experience (month old?) a) Bought a used GTX 1080 Ti on ebay, it ended up having a resistor broken off on the 16th lane of the 16x so it only worked at 8x but as this is a card that doesn't hit 8x bandwidths it was ok enough for me to receive a refund and sell it away much cheaper and earn 100€ Then b) I found a beautiful workstation x99e-WS Asus board for 300€ used and all looked great until it ended up FRYING my very well taken care of 6950x CPU (been operating at 30-45Cs since 2016) that cost me 1700 on purchase date back then, because on auto the board decides to shoot 1.9v to your CPU, something the previous owner said they didn't know (lol) So, i do NOT recommend the used market at all because my comment here does not even touch the mining aspect of your VRAM chips and how they have the ability to even print on them new letters. We ARE surrounded by thieves and wolves and the scarcity of money in 2023 has made them worse and dangerous! Sheep beware! Instead of the risk, NEW 30x0 series card prices are equally low and going lower, bought myself a 3080 for 850€ and F the 40x0 and F the used market and its worries! I am at peace now! With that money i could get a 4070 Ti (barely) but 192 bit width bus for a video editor? no thanks Nvidia, i'll pass! Please mention that and feel free to reference this comment (=my pain) for evidence!
honestly i would like even a 3080 second hand but i fear always to get something not working or damaged with my lucky star that is probably a black hole i fear to get scammed

@@TechLens For Greece use "Skroutz" (which is the name of Scrooge McDuck in Greek) and "bestprice" that both give you all available vendors. (add the country's domain at the end, it is "gr", i can't type it as such because youtube will remove it mistaking it for spam) don't freak out TOO much with the prices you will see.... 😞we're in the pit here!
@@TechLens I am from Slovenia, so no popular retailers here. Bu I usually order from Mindfactory from Germany. The only thing that sux there are their filters for the products. And the second hand market.. just use ebay and filter by region and chose European union. Thanks for the reply!
