add a few drops of vinegar to your water before you mix the plaster. It gives you about 1/2 hour of open time to work, it works great. Only a few drops mind you, about 1/2 a teaspoon full to 1 cup of water. You are right, more water doesn't help at all, unless its fridge water super chilled but that doesn't work as well as the vinegar.

This makes me think that you can't use just POP, you have to add an adhesive (like PVA) and maybe something to give you more play time to work with the POP. I would add glycerine to the water which makes things dry more slowly. I also wouldn't use expensive flowers because the petals of the flowers are thinner, more fragile looking, so that they can look more realistic. I would use cheaper flowers. I've seen other videos on this where they've used Dollar Store flowers and they turned out amazing.

Try flowers with lots of dimension, like roses and make the plaster nice and thin. Mix it between every single dip. Only do a light, quick dip. One thick layer won't work. And I agree that maybe you should start with smaller flowers first. Good luck!

Thanks for the demonstration. By watching it I think I can figure out a few adjustments that may work. Major helpful.

You need a BIG bowl, and two coats of the right consistency of the plaster of Paris...the crafty chica here on you tube had a different.consistency. Thanks for showing it though

Do it at 3-1 and keep the stem on it to dip with and to hook it upside down with until it dries with !!!!!

Always add POP to water & use a bigger bowl.

The title you gave had the word DIPPED which you didn't do. You had the consistency too thick and. And no enough. Also you didn't DIP you smooshed the flowers in a small container. It does work.

You didn’t level the plaster in the measuring cup, which threw off your equation.

I had the same result.Waisted materials and it is not depending on amount of water you are adding.Less water-chunky and fragile, more water-flaky and soft. Some adding pva glue into mixture I heard, but have no idea in what proportions.Plaster of Paris is not right for this project, unless you are going to do votives for display with warning: do not touch by hands, fragile.

Plaster of Paris is not the right stuff to use. It's too brittle. I've seen better results with wall plaster and even cement. Also you mustn't crust the flower against the bottom of the container. It should be dipped not bashed.

You're not supposed to use your bare hands in plaster of Paris! It can be very dangerous stuff.

I enjoyed your instruction but could really do without the cutesy silliness. It detracts from your instruction, in my opinion.
