Good review. Have to admit though, still think its a dreadful show with a majority of tedious characters and little in the way of respect to fans. Tried to give it a go but was dragging myself through the last few episodes of season 1. If I had to sum it up in one word, it would have to be 'soulless'.

Cool. Discovery is just the beginning of a new type of Star Trek. Polarising and needing to find a consistent groove. Right now it's like a Jazz Fusion group with everyone playing a different tempo. The individual musicians are wonderful, though.

Season 3 of Disco was by far the best season. Fresh, way out side of current Star Trek Cannon. Was quite good… few Llooonnngggg speeches from the heart with tears. Did not like the end of season 3. Hell, she could've headed her own show as a totally regular Starfleet captain. Also!! Given the wonderful Clem Fandango (can you hear me?) point-out, PLEASE do Toast of London. Oh my god. It took a while before I watched Discovery, but all in all I liked it. Season 3 was... okay. First half was good, second half not so much. Season 4 isn't looking good based on the previous. BTW I posted on your Voyager video that I thought Lower Decks was the worst of the Star Trek shows; I was wrong... I had forgotten about Picard. Picard was truly AWFUL. HOWEVER... Picard Season 2 is looking very interesting. BTW I'm still eagerly awaiting Season 3 of The Orville. Sigh.

Got some good stuff in it but so frustrating. SPOILERS!!!:: S1 ends with the Klingons (without leadership) about to destroy Earth but stopped because their new Empress can blow up their home world with the push of a button?????? Just dumb. Kleppians can all fly spaceships 10 minutes after being freed. Spock goes through so much, you'd think the one in the original show should be totally together and have no issues.
So, how much did they pay you to promote this show? I made such a comment on the Star Trek reddit, and got censured for that. Then I asked about the unofficial TOS follow ups. I got blocked from posting, told I was not posting "in good faith". Bullshit. They aren't moderating in good faith if they can't take a bit of criticism, and won't allow talk about better shows.

It's kinda weired that the best of the new Trek shows is the animated series, Lower Decks. Which feels fresh and modern and yet someone working on it remembered what Star Trek is.
SNW returns to an episodic format with some continuity running through it. I wonder if Disco writers should tru mini-arcs like Enterprise's season 4. Those arcs were interesting IMO and rewatchable.
For me, discovery reached its peak in season 2, all down hill in season 3&4. Those two seasons are awful. Only decent Trek show at the moment is strange new worlds.
Having only seen the first 3 seasons of Discovery, I saw it as a flawed but interesting experiment--certainly a lot better than Picard, which was the one I expected to like but was actually kind of a mess. The prevailing darkness of Discovery could be a bit much sometimes, though I understand it's what people expect from prestige TV these days. The serialization often had the effect of just slowing the plot down. And some of the show's big dramatic plot twists were frankly ridiculous--this is a tradition going back to the beginning of Trek, but in a more episodic show you can shrug it off and move on; here, it ends up souring the taste of a season-long epic storyline. I have not yet watched Strange New Worlds since we let our Paramount+ (then "CBS All Access") subscription lapse, but since the characters that show revolves around were some of the best things about Discovery, I'm not surprised at the raves it's getting.
Thanks , I tried to watch this show , but I just couldn't. I've been wondering if it was just me that found it profoundly irritating. There are so many good parts, but the way it's put together ....aaaagh!
What an amazingly respectful series this was. Experimented but refocused when fans couldn't cope. Changed time set to calm the upset. Brought back Pike to please traditionslists. Then made it more of an ensemble piece due to the bleating about the central character. What a shame that "fans" are so shockingly narrow minded these days.
3 episodes on TOS, a video on practically every Star Trek movie, a video for, ew, discovery, a video for voyager and enterprise, but no video for the best, deep space 9? For shame
it had some good moments. star trek always has been a bit campy and naff in places though. this series is no different. Michelle Yeoh is my favourite character there. the others are a bit wet behiend the ears.
I think I truly started to despise the show when I realized two or three episodes in that Tilly was supposed to be the comedy relief. It hadn't occurred to me until then because she was so not funny I didn't even realize she was supposed to be.
Watched the first episode when it was free and didn't care for it so I never wanted to subscribe to CBS's streaming service. The more I read about it, the less I wanted to see it. I don’t have the same hatred that most fanboys do, but the series just holds no interest for me.
I suffered through S1 and S2 and that was enough. Woke speed 10 replacing warp speed 10 meant straight to the memory hole as fast as possible. There are no redeeming qualities of the show. Thank God for The Oriville, which in S1 and S2 was must watch, and always enjoy, TV. S3 on Hulu where they went way past hour episodes hurt The Oriville, but it was still light years better than any modern Trek.
I watched the first episode of STD, by halfway through I can say I forced myself to watch it. It might have made a standalone science fiction show, but it didn't remind me of Star Trek.
Ah, Stam Fine, what did you think of Season 3 of Discovery? I have watched all three seasons, and I think they get progressively nonsensical and way too maudlin.
slight improvement for the first half then went back to bad habits later on. Manages to do even less with the majority of the cast than first two seasons. Lower Decks Season 1 is where its really happening out of the three Trek seasons from 2020.
I've heard that Lower Decks is pretty much shit all over the males and women know everything. So identity politics like everything else these days. So pass.
Personally I felt Discovery was moderately good overall at times a 6.5/10 or 7/10, and suffers from some things! Bad looking Klingons and the story telling doesn't feel like the usual positive style Star Trek of old. Most of the bridge crew have no personality nor names I remember (and are window dressing), except the main captain and second in command and Tilley or guest stars that show up like Book. Saru is a great actor though. Michael Burnham is too often considered right and saves the day miraculously, and some fans call her a Mary Sue character (my opinion is mixed). Season 2 with Pike and Spock appearing was great because of them alone. Fans wanted a spin off and got it with SNW. Season 3 is mixed reviews again with some good episodes, Book is great, however I really did not care for the weird alien 10C, but I did like the "math/sound communication" original idea. Story of 10C dragged on too much. Mixed reviews indeed. Space magic often saves the day and we see a lot of it in the 900 year ahead future.
When it was announced a new Stark Trek show was coming like many fans I was excited and couldn't wait. By the end of the first season I hated Discovery with every fiber in my being. I haven't seen every television show ever made. But Discovery is the worst television show I've ever seen and the one I hate the most.

Decent review. Glad you sort of liked the show. I didn't. I hate Tilly the most. A grating character. Like getting an aggressive massage with sand paper. It gets that itchy spot, but then you require skin grafts.
She started a goddamn war, but thats ok somehow. I stopped watching after the first two episodes of season 4, because the plotholes and outright silly ideas and dialogue was way too much to bare..
This was so shit, designed for god knows who, a lot of crying, but at least Clem Fandango is in it, it should have concentrated on a plot and entertaining people instead of race, sexual preference and gender politics and pushing unbelievable Mary Sue characters, like the 5ft 2 inch nurse that is able to take down Klingons with the moves she learnt at medical school?

@@tentringer4065 Progressive messages that already existed when I was a child are fine, but progressive messages that are new to me as an adult are "woke" and "forced"!
I loved the first season, but after that... meh?
Decent review. Glad you sort of liked the show. I didn't. I hate Tilly the most. A grating character. Like getting an aggressive massage with sand paper. It gets that itchy spot, but then you require skin grafts.
So no season 3 and 4 breakdown. Thought so. Even Stam couldn't take it anymore. Imagine how the fans feel.😂😂😂
This is a 3 year old review bud
Star trek discovery is ok
She started a goddamn war, but thats ok somehow.
I stopped watching after the first two episodes of season 4, because the plotholes and outright silly ideas and dialogue was way too much to bare..
Woke Trek: To bodly woke where noone has woked before, and hopefully noone will ever woke again.
You do remember what original trek was like son? lol
Too woke for me. 🤔😕
What does that mean? Star Trek was always "WOKE"
@@titusmccarthy Original 'woke' in Star Trek had meaning, it dealt with real issues. Today's woke is something entirely different.
ST Disco is unwatchable. I disliked the show after the first few episodes of season 1.
Axanar
Fire Kurtzman and hire Peters. Simple as that.
This was so shit, designed for god knows who, a lot of crying, but at least Clem Fandango is in it, it should have concentrated on a plot and entertaining people instead of race, sexual preference and gender politics and pushing unbelievable Mary Sue characters, like the 5ft 2 inch nurse that is able to take down Klingons with the moves she learnt at medical school?
the show is wrecked by the contractual 25%diffenences, and its new woke bullshit. I gave up after giving it a go for the first season.
I thinks it stinks!
Discovery was by far the worst star trek
