This is so helpful! I’ve been eating low glycemic index and my pcos symptoms are 80% better but I think dairy is the piece that I’ve been missing! The science you explained behind it just MAKES SENSE!

Very well said! You even sound like a real nutritionist. Salute to you mommy! I wish I could have a talk with you with all these knowledge. I have 0 idea on how and where to start with my healthy eating diet cause I really don’t earn much yet to afford all the expensive healthy foods. My family are not into healthy lifestyle

Thank you! It is definitely overwhelming starting out on a healthy eating journey. My advice would be to try and cut way back on processed foods and try to incorporate a lot more veggies into your meals. I love buying frozen vegetables because they are frozen at peak ripeness. I buy the generic store brand which are often around $1 which is much more affordable than fresh produce!

Amazing informative video! I’ll try to cut out dairy stuff and wanna see how my body responds like you said. But i’m a big fan of greek yogurt.. Is it acceptable to have a cup of greek yogurt or lactose-free greek yogurt(if needed) everyday...?😢

    • @ContemporaryMama
      @ContemporaryMama 3 года назад

I love eating dairy free yogurt! The downside is most DF yogurt has very little protein so I usually mix in some protein powder and it makes a great breakfast or snack!

Just found out that I likely have PCOS and for sure have Insulin Resistance. I am getting ready to do whole30 to kick off the dairy free life (I'm already gluten free because of celiac). Looking forward to learning more and hopefully getting my body on the right track! Thank you for all your info!

Any advice for those with so called "lean PCOS" which was diagnosed via ultrasound scan of my ovaries and through my symptoms as they became so much worse suddenly during the first year after having my son via C-section (I do wonder if having PCOS increases the risk of needing a C-section as my body did NOT want to get into labour despite the doctors trying 3 times to induce it via hormones and lots of uncomfortable prodding....lovely!).
Anyway my PCOS symptoms I struggle with the most is heavy and for the first few days painful periods, not to mention I'm very moody and fatigued with PMS.
    Also I have:
    - chronic cystic acne literally ALL over my face I resemble a pepperoni pizza,
    - various hair issues/terrible hair (my hair is thin, dry, slow to grow, falls out and when I'm particularly stressed long term I get something vaguely resembling a receding hairline on the sides),
    -excess sweating,
    - fatigue,
    -depression,
    - brain fog,
    - facial hair is also starting to become more noticeable so I won't get away with plucking the odds hairs and hiding the problem from my fiance for much longer.... great!
I have PCOS starting the dreaded realisation that dairy and me are not friends, despite my love of cheese and cereal.
However as I also have an higher than normal metabolism (I know what your thinking...but stay with me!), most likely hyperthyroidism rather than hypothyroidism as my symptoms include weight loss instead of weight gain, heat intolerance and excess sweating. However as my blood test shows "borderline" levels, they don't do anything.
Also I have CPTSD and the extreme stress of long term domestic abuse and my body being stuck in long term fight or flight as a result really messed my body up. I lossed a bunch of weight without wanting to and became clinically underweight and quite ill. That was 5 years back, I'm better now, gained the weight back, my metabolism seems to be permanently a bit higher than it was so I can (and do!) eat more than my 6ft broad shouldered fiance and stay a size 8-10.
Any advice for HEALTHY ways to keep the calories up after taking out the dairy but is PCOS friendly?
I know this is LITERALLY the OPPOSITE problem to most PCOS but we lean PCOS women do exist!, I have a very weird body, terrible cooking skills and need help!! Lol
So yes, any suggestions for healthy but high caloried lean PCOS friendly foods pretty please 😁😁
PS: the biggest hump for me is not actually my love of cheese and the thought of giving that up, though it is a factor! But it's my severe lack of cooking abilities (I have autism so issues with executive functioning in some areas, my fiance cooks as a result) and I am unemployed living off disability benefits so I simply don't have the funds for fancy expensive foods/diets often promoted in the media
    One last odd question...
Years ago when I was 16 (I'm 32 now and was diagnosed with PCOS at 26) I was a church going Christian at that time so when Lent came around I chose to give up chocolate. I was (and still am chocolate obsessed!! And the whole being naturally skinny/high metabolism thing is very enabling as it's very easy to assume that because my weight looks healthy in the outside my insides MUST be ok 🙄. Anyway I managed it even though literally NONE of my friends thought I'd manage it and I found that at that time my acne really improved! Would that be the dairy thing? Or something else? Or just one of life's mysteries...?

I swap most of my dairy with coconut milk products (coffee creamer/yogurt) the coconut milk is super creamy and contains healthy fats which should help with ensuring you are getting enough calories. The cystic acne is definitely a big clue your body is reacting to something in your diet. Hopefully cutting out dairy and working on your stress management will give you great results 🤞🏻

Then keep your tea with milk! You can try some dairy free milks but if you can go dairy free except for milk and tea then that is still going to give you great benefit!

So be dairy free except for cheese! Reducing the amount of dairy you consume will still be beneficial even if you aren’t completely dairy free
